Lucy's Motorworks Started by: Lucy on Jan 08, '25 11:21

Ralph hears Carlo calling for Lucy and comes over at the reception.

"Sorry sir. Lucy's not back yet. But your car is ready."

Ralph gives Carlo the car keys.

"It was an easy fix. Shouldn't be a problem anymore. We've given it a little wash too for free since you're a new customer."

Ralph hands Carlo a calling card.

"If you ever need us, give us a call. Lucy also told me that 'special services' are available for you... Whatever that means."

Carlo takes the keys from Ralph with a small nod of appreciation, his expression neutral but polite. He glances briefly at the calling card before tucking it into his pocket.

"Thanks for the quick work. I also appreciate the wash, too," He says with a joyful tone. <font color="#99CC99">"Tell Lucy I'll be back in a few days for those Special services," Carlo said with a faint smirk, turning to the door of his Lincoln continental.</font>

As Lucy asked Sonny waht it was gonna be he looked around.

Lucy we cant drive this car, we need another truck to move it and something to cover it meanwhile. We dont want the cops to see it. As i mentioned we had a fireefight a short while ago.

Can you arrange something   the faster we get this car crushed the better.

Lucy went over to the counter and grabbed some keys from under.

"Never thought I'd see the day." she said, as she stepped outside.

When she returned, she was driving a Chevrolet 3600 tow truck. She attached it to the car and went to Sonny.

"Listen I won't be able to cover it. But I'll make sure not to drive on the main roads. Plus, my crusher is in a very discreet place. We won't have trouble I can promise you that."

Lucy gets in the driver seat of the tow truck and opens the passenger door for Sonny.

"My offer still stands Sonny. You coming?"

Report Post Tip

Yes lets get going Lucy, got some more needing to be gotten rid off.

Sonny throws a couple pistols into the cars trunk.

I am read able and willing  let hit it.

Report Post Tip

Lucy turns the tow truck's engine and starts driving to the crusher that was located on the outskirts of the city. She made sure that she drove off the main roads. As they were both enjoying a relaxing drive, Lucy engaged Sonny into a conversation.

"We never really talk much about our personal lives Sonny. I've always wondered. Do you have a family?"

Lucy turned off the radio to listen to Sonny. It was playing static anyway.

A few weeks later, Carlo strides into the shop, his eyes scanning the place as if taking mental notes. Spotting Ralph at the reception desk, he gives him a curt nod.

"Ralph," Carlo says, sliding his hands into his coat pockets. "Looks like I'm back sooner than expected."

He leans slightly on the counter, his tone casual but firm. "I need to talk about some upgrades for my car. Something a little... custom." His eyes narrow slightly, watching Ralph’s reaction. "Lucy around? Or should I be talking to you?"

Carlo taps the counter lightly with his fingers, his expression calm. "Let’s just say I need my car to be a little more... extra. And I hear you guys are good at that sort of thing."

Report Post Tip

Sonny looked surpriced at Lucy, he was certainly not used to being asked this kinda thing. He looked at her a little longer to assure himself she was serious.

Well Lucy everyone has a family. But as you know my father was shot not that long ago. My Mama is well like every Italian mother, best cook there is.

But i guess thats not what you meant was it?

Sonny blinked at Lucy.

Youre asking if i am romantically engaged now arent you. I havent married yet. Sonny showed his fingers not wearing any ring.

I have meet someone who stirred my interest though, sadly my latest jail sentence and other business came in the way, but who knows...maybe one day.

Report Post Tip

Lucy was interested in finding out who that special someone was, but she figured she should keep her nose out of people's business. At least for the time being.

"I see... Well. As for me I've got nothing. You've been here longer than I have so I guess that makes sense. I'm sure if you try hard enough, you'll win them over, whoever it is."

Lucy takes a hard turn into a junkyard.

"Here we are... That's the crusher over there." she said, pointing at a giant and kinda rusted piece of machinery.

She parks the totaled car inside the crusher and detaches it from the tow truck. She then moves over to the controls and gets ready to operate it.

"Anything else you want to get rid of... maybe last goodbyes and all that, now's the time Sonny..."

Report Post Tip

"Boss! Someone is asking for you."

Lucy comes out of her office and spots Carlo.

"Hey welcome back! I hope your car didn't break down again. If it did, Ralph over here is in a world of trouble. Isn't that right, Ralph?"

Ralph's face turns red.

"A-A-Actually this gentleman said that he is here for a car upgrade. Something custom they said."

"Is that right... Well Ralph. You're off the hook this time. Why don't you go take a little break. I'll handle this one."

"Of course." Ralph sighed of relief and walked into the staff room.

Lucy looked around to make sure that only Carlo could hear her.

"I'm guessing you're not here for regular mechanic work. Well my friend... I'm all ears."

Outside the shop, a car horn beeps twice as a shiny white, brand-new Buick Skylark convertible pulls into the parking lot. With the chilly weather, the deep maroon colored top is pulled up of course, but it looks perfect with the white-walled tires and trim. When the engine stops, the driver door opens and out pops Sandy Sullivan, wearing a heavy winter coat and a wool scarf over her hair and ears; but also a huge smile. She hurries inside, pulling off her gloves.

"Lucy? Lucy, are you here, hon? I got something to show you!"

Sandy had been on the fence about a car for months, but had finally seen on she fell in love with, and was over the moon to show her friend now.

Report Post Tip

Lucy was once again in her office, trying to figure out how taxes work before the IRS showed up when she heard Sandy calling out to her.

She emerged from her office and greeted Sandy with a smile.

"Sandy! How's life treating you?"

Lucy spots the brand new Buick parked outside and her eyes flashed.

"So you ended up getting a convertible then. Somehow I knew you'd end up with a flashier option. It's pretty nice! Want me to tune it a little? My head still hurts from all the numbers I'm dealing with and I could use a little break. I'll give you a 50% off discount and a car wash if you wish!"

Lucy was happy to see Sandy finally get a car. Meant she didn't have to tire herself with public transport, which for a city like Detroit, was always a hassle.

Report Post Tip

Well i am happy we got that thing crushed, good thing we have you Lucy and your motorworks. Now atleast they dont have the car or the guns i dropped in it as evidence.

I have to go see Jimmy, he took a hit to the shoulder. Hopefully our doc fixed him up and its nothing serious. Ill also have to make sure our man at the station gets an envelope so the pigs dont go to any lengths to solve the shooting we just participated in.

Sonny got out a bottle of whiskey and waved one of his bgs over that took out a couple glasses, he then poured for Lucy and himself.

Cheers Lucy and thanks

Report Post Tip

"Anytime Sonny." Lucy said as she downed the glass of whiskey.

Lucy made sure the car was crushed completely before turning to Sonny again.

"Do you need a ride? I have to get the tow truck back to the shop anyway."

Report Post Tip

Sonny laughed

I am not excatly know for walking now am i. Also i am gonna need a new ride, do you have any decent cars for sale?

Shit maybe i should not be riding to much around town anyways the next couple days untill things cooled down.

Sonny jumped into the towtruck with Lucy and lit a cigar.

Report Post Tip

Lucy started the tow truck.

"Sorry Sonny. I don't sell cars. You are on your own with this one."

At that moment, the radio started playing In the Still of the Night by The Five Satins.

"Ah. That's one of my favorite American songs. You don't mind me turning it up a little, do ya?"

Lucy turns the volume up just enough and starts driving towards the exit of the junkyard and to the family's doc. Lucy hummed along at the tune before she started speaking to Sonny again.

"I can drop you off at the family's doc since it's on the way but you'll have to take a cab to get to the station. Sorry but Ralph must have gone crazy managing the shop all on his own. I gotta get back."

Report Post Tip

Carlo Smirked as he adjusted his coat as he lead closer to Lucy, "You guessed right," he said tapping the counter with his fingers. "Im looking for speed, Real speed but it can't just be fast, it has to be tough too. Reinforced armored, nothing too fancy just enough to take a hit or two. Carlo paused, watching the expression on Lucy's face closely.

"And I need compartments, Hidden ones. The kind that stays hidden when the wrong people come looking, If you get my drift" He said while reaching into his pocket for his wallet. "how much will still cost me?" Carlo lowers his voice as he scans the room.

Report Post Tip

Lucy stood in complete silence for a second. She knew a guy that could sell her steel plates but she had never armored a car before. She also had to figure out how to balance speed and armor. This was definitely one of the hardest orders that she had ever taken.

"I'm sure I can do something. It'll take a little while though. It's gonna cost you 60k. If you'd like bulletproof windows as well, that's gonna add another... let's say... 8k."

Lucy got a sticky note and a pen and handed them to Carlo.

"If you're in, write your phone number down. I can call you when I'm done. You can also call the workshop and ask for me to check progress. Whatever you do, don't mention this to anyone but me..."

Lucy paused for a bit to make sure she hasn't missed any details.

"So... Do we have a deal?"

Report Post Tip

Carlo smirked as he picked up the pen and scribbled his number on the sticky note. "78k, huh? he muttered, shaking his head with a chuckle. "guess peace of mind doesn't come cheap."

He slid the note back to Lucy, tapping it lightly with his fingers. "add the bulletproof windows. I want the whole package, Steel plates, reinforced windows, everything. Make sure it's solid. I can't afford any surprise."

Carlo leaned in, using a low tone "and like you said. this stay between us. Nobody else needs to know what's under the hood." Carlo made his way towards the door "Thanks again, Lucy, give me a call when it's done."

Report Post Tip

When Carlo walked out the door, Lucy checked the time. It was almost closing time, so she figured she could dismiss her mechanics for the day.

"Alright everyone! You are done for the day mkay?"

"But boss I'm not done with this order yet. I am almost finished." Ralph said.

"Doesn't matter. I have some important things to do and I could use some peace and quiet. You'll finish tomorrow."

"But tomorrow is Saturday."

"Well... There's always Monday. Come on Ralph I'm giving you an early leave here. Won't be a lot of those in the future."

"Ok... You're the boss, boss."

Lucy waited for everyone to leave and brought Carlo's car into the workshop. She then reached for the phone and dialed a supplier of hers.

"Good evening. Is Tony there? I need to speak to him... Hey Tony it's me. Never thought I'd contact you but how fast can you provide me with uhh... I'd say... 7 plates?... 2 days? For Christ sake you're killing me here!... Ugh whatever. Can you also provide me with that special glass of yours?... Hm ok. I'll be expecting you on Sunday then?... Right. Deliver them straight to the workshop... Don't worry about the time I'll probably be here all weekend. I've got a lot of things to do. Might even spend these couple of nights here... Alright! I'll be waiting."

Lucy calmly hangs up and brings over a toolbox. She starts thinking where she should make the hidden compartments. After some examination, she thought of a couple of places and got to work.

"This is gonna be a long day..." she said out loud.
