Some Old Random Thoughs | Started by: IDC on Jan 09, '25 00:04 |
IDC walks along the sidewalk. Hoping over cracks in the cemented walkway. Nothing seemingly happy going on. Just the same old birds chirping and night stars shing. What a nice ice cold January day to just sit down for a minute. He drops to the floor and sits crisscrossed. Staring down at the road real quick. He takes a sip of his booze before looking up around the neighborhood. "Why does everything seem the same. Same old speakers, same old leaders, and even same old faces. Nothing new around. Nothing really real happening.. Huh. I guess thats just what it is... I guess so Bud... Heeeh." He says to himself quietly before smiling. Time to move on. |

IDC good points. I think this is why we need a Leaded of the Streets, and the ñreturb krì⁹⁹⁸ì
OK, let's get this moving

Now we are in business! Finally! The Toaster takes a seat in a lovely leather, Victorian style chair. He leans back in comfort with his suede robe dangling off his body. A single testicle hangs out. He lights up a pipe - the classy kind - and begins looking over his notes... "So Tommy, it seems no matter how much pressure you receive from mobsters across the nation, you simply refuse to put out another issue of The MR Gazette. I've heard rumblings about another project you have in the works. Care to discuss the details?" |

The money has been returned, and while I do appreciate the support for the MR Gazette, I still stand behind the formation of one news paper, with a head editor, and a few writers, I'd be on board with this and offer to write an article or two for that paper with joy.

Tommy_Vitale I don't support this idea of centralising the power of newspapery into the hands of one head-editor, and I am still in the camp of starting back up the MR Gazette.
Do you even know what you're advocating for?
If we continue down this road then before long we'll get another news tyrant like the late and infamous SaddleFlashing (thank fuck that clown was a genetic dead end), who tried to buy up all newspapers so he could personally curate all news and ensure there was at least one mention of Lobster Ravioli in each and every article. If we centralise the newspaper industry, then we might get into a situation where news articles about post office robberies get censored. Or where asking for tips becomes a BANNED practice. Do you want to write newspaper articles without getting any tips, @Tomme_Vitale? |

Chicken and egg scenario in terms of the same old speakers. My lineage hasn't been active in these streets for a fair old time. I have however, as did my dearest father, decide to change that and get involved. People sometimes have to challenge themselves to speak out here and not be held back by fear. They need to get into the saddle and let the horse ride. Now despite my pappy getting shot in the face for calling out an idiots, I see far less death for words spoken here than ever. I don't see what people have to be afraid of in that regard? We have a Street Leader wanting to lead. Let yourself be led. Get out here or reach out for help. Only by people offering thoughts and opinions can we drive forward. |

You have given me much to consider and think about, so much to the point where I shall visit the old building where the MR Gazette was up for sale. Unfortunately recent high end developments have skyrocketed the prices of land, so much to the point where 8 million used to be able to buy it, but alas it now stands at a whooping 300 million, and poor Tommy can only write in that office, his creative thinking place.

Is there currently a newspaper being actively published? Or are they all defunct? Where is a man supposed to get his news from? Would 300 million dollars bring you out of retirement, Tommy? |

300 Million would fund the paper, with an established weekly distribution.

300 million for a newspaper? What? Weekly? Monthly? Yearly? Lifetime? Absolutely ridiculous. Any Tom, Dick or Harry* can throw out a newspaper for half the price of that. How an earth can something that used to be a free public service now require a 300 million payment? Day light robbery. *Gary has very purposefully been excluded from that list. Have we any Tommy's, Dicks or Harry's here? Ah. I see one.. |

Until my body lays to rest, a weekly newspaper will be released. Also I value my time, 300m is a paltry sum in my eyes. And yes anyone with a notepad and a pen can write up a newspaper but are they the MR Gazette.

Gary, sometimes one has to pay for good things. Quality can be costly. The world doesn't need any ticky tack 150 million dollar newspapers diluting the information flow. We need one serious 300 million dollar man and that alone will do.

The 300 million dollar man. Geez. I look forward to hearing that show on the wireless. Sounds a doozy. Look, don't be getting me wrong Tommy. You're a man of fine upstanding and deliverance of news is vital. But is the Mafia Gazette editor really worth the amount of dough you're demanding? You could feed all the homeless in New York for a year with that amount of base. The Gazette is good but can it live up to such heights of the Bloody Tissue? For 300 million my man we can only hope or there are gonna be some seriously disappointed people around here. Should you manage it I'll be the first to take a few dollars in your cap and give you a slap on the shoulder. I'm assuming you are paying people to read on that wage? |

It is sad when 300m is a large amount of dough for an entire community of gangsters across this entire country. Now correct me if I'm wrong because unlike most I have only been on these shores for but a year, but I do recall early editions reaching upwards of 16m per edition. So I've learned to tip the way I've been tipped since I've washed upon these shores. 300m again I say is a paltry sum, but maybe those days are gone and maybe I just got the tail end.

Money has no meaning? It's the ultimate drug. Well, behind power but then does money bring power? Listen. I'd love to see a paper and I'm only being a flippant dickhead but there was a time just the prestige of running the paper was enough. I can see that time has ended but maybe it's a brave new world |

What prestige, Gary? Journalists are among the most unfairly persecuted and hunted groups around here, if not the most. Where is The Saddle Flashing? The Cyraxx Tribune? Systematic Immolation of Gnus? Banker's Digest? Shuttered, out of print, their editors violently murdered. Journalists have a right to be compensated fairly. |
