South Side - LouisFratto Retirement Started by: Svetlana on Jan 19, '25 03:36

The air in the makeshift headquarters for the Famiglia Di Fantasmi reeked of mildew and desperation. LouisFratto, with a pale face surveyed the wreckage of his crew headquarters. His prized possession, a desk that was gifted to him by a grateful politician laid shattered amongst his feet.

The raid on the building had been swift and brutal by the F.B.I. They were tipped off by an anonymous informant and proceeded to storm the compound. As they seized assets and were arresting known mafiosi, Fratto and Svetlana escaped capture. They both watched from a distance as his legacy had crumbled around him.

It was a devastating raid which left the stark reminder that the tides were turning and the old ways of the criminal underworld were no longer favored it seemed. The F.B.I. was relentless with their surveillance and their resources seemed unlimited as no stone was left unturned when they raided the headquarters. Fratto seemed relieved almost looking at the wreckage. The constant bloodshed and weight of responsibility left a large toll on him. He was old and his body was aching from the strain of the life of crime. The life of a Don now felt like a burden to him...

LouisFratto began to decide how he wanted to go out. He felt it was the time to step down and relinquish his reins of power and fade into the darkness. One day he had his driver deliver a letter to Svetlana... in the letter he described that he wanted to leave this life of crime forever. He had enough of the killing, seeing his friends die, and friendships change. He wanted to retire...

As she read the letter, she was reminded by his kindness to her. He gave her a chance that many others did not. She knew the reason he wanted to leave and respected his wishes.

"I hope you find the peace and relaxation you're aching for."

One day as Svetlana was working in her art gallery, she was reminiscing about her time with her former Don, LouisFratto. As she was sweeping the gallery she had a cold shiver down her spine, a sudden sense of unease. She glanced at her grandfather clock and watched as the pendulum swung, ticking in rhythm. It was precisely 12:07 PM, the exact time as the day before as she collected her unopened mail. She had a package with she was expecting and a couple of letters of various folks. And then she remembered...

She walked over to where she kept her mail and noticed the odd looking envelope. It was different, like from another country. She looked at it more closely and realized it was from the old country, Italy. She wondered who could've mailed her, but in her heart she knew it was her former employer and mentor. As she carefully opened the envelope, she saw a letter with handwriting she recognized... it was definitely LouisFratto. She revealed the letter and started to read.

Dear Svetlana,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am doing rather well, and finally relaxing on the beach like we talked about. Perhaps one day you can join me for some relaxation...

Sincerely,

LF

Emotions filled her as she loved hearing about her friend and mentor finding the relaxation that they ached for. She knew that his last days in the New World trying to run a criminal organization took their toll on him. She was happy to know that he was doing well. Hopefully, they continued to do well and he didn't have to worry about her anymore. And perhaps one day, she would take him up on his offer to enjoy the beach in the old country.
