The -Squaddie- bio

Origanally from Chicago, i was introduced to a life of crime at an early age. My father was always away on business trips, all my life he had told me that he was in the food market industry and he was always away for looking for new business opportunities. I believed him. Until one day when i returned home from school to find my mother sitting in the garden crying. She turned to look at me, tears rolling down her eyes and said ''Squaddie, there is something i need to tell you''

I do not remember the whole conversation, i was a mere 10 years of age. But one thing i will never forget is when she spoke the following:

''It's your father, i have some bad news. He was shot last night by a very bad man. I do not know why this happened but......

I do not remember what the rest of the conversation was, the news startled me. Who would want to kill my father? He was so peaceful and loving, i do not understand why this has happened.

It was not until i was 16 that my mother told me the truth about my father. What she told me blew my mind, but also opened new doors to me...

''I was not and have not been honest with you. Your father was not in the food market industry, he was a criminal who was involved with the mafia.''

What! The news threw me back. I could not believe what i was hearing. My mother jumped up and threw her arms around me.

''You was too young to know before, you would not have understood, but the time for you to know the truth has come, it is only fair you knew. Your fathers 'business' trip to philly was not about anything to do with food or markets. He reason he went to philly was to murder someone who also was involved with another mafia crew. I do not know the reason for this, me and you father never discussed his business.''

Later that eveing after i had been thinking about it all day, i had a strange feeling and heard a loud noise. I went downstairs to investigate. As i opened the door i could see my mother lying on the floor. She was not breathing and was lying in a pool of blood. I was shocked and felt fear, i turned around and ran out of the door. I never returned....

2 years later

After living on the streets for the past 2 years, i decided it was time to try and sort my life out. Living in cardboard boxes and scrounging through bins for food was taking its toll, i knew if i did not do something soon, i would probably end up dead. It was a beautiful day and i was walking through the town of Los Vegas, all my life i had been to numerous cities, my method of travel either by foot or by in the back of someone cab. I was hungry and to my joy i spotted a fruit stall on the other side of the street. Despite been busy i knew i had to get some food, anything at all just to take the stomach pains away. I started to cross the street towards the stall, as i reached the other side of the street the onwer of the stall glanced at me. The glance turned into a stare, he knew exactly what i was up to. I stopped and stared vack at him, hoping that he would feel sorry for me and offer me something to eat. Instead he picked up a rock and hurled it at me, i tried to jump away but it struck my knee. The man was still staring at me when i got back to my feet, our eyes were fixed to eachother. For a second it seemed everything went quiet, then all of a sudden..

BAM!

A loud sound rang out and the man fell side ways onto the floor, blood was pouring out of his head. I watched as he hit the floor and closed his eyes. People were screaming and running away, my hunger took over and i ran to the stall grabbing a box of apples. I picked them up and ran, i had no idea where i was going, all i knew is that is was in the opposite direction of everyone else, but i did not care, i had food. I ran down the narrow street, in the distance i could see police lights and hear sirens, so i turned into an alley. Not looking where i was going i run straight into the back of a tall man in a suit. It was a hard hit and it knocked me down, my apples went everywhere. I felt dizzy and lost my balance, falling onto the concrete floor. My vision went blurry and my head had sharp pains running through it. My eyes shut.

A few hours later

I woke up and placed my hand on my head, the pain still there but wearing off slowly. It took me about a minute to come round, when i did i jumped to my feet in shock. Where was i?

''About time you came round, we was getting worried''

I looked to my right and there were 2 men sitting at a table eating, they motioned for me to go over and pointed to a seat, a plate of food was was on the table. I slowly walked over and took my seat, i was not fearful of who the 2 men and i was finally going to get some food so i wasn't a bout to start complaining. The three of us sat at the table quietly until one of then men asked my name. I told him my name and where i was from. The 2 men looked at eachother and i stopped talking. Oh no, what have i done? Have i stolen something off these men before? They looked shocked and one of the men looked at me and said:

''Was your father called Antonio Larizzi?''

I was shocked, how could they possibly know my father?, Yes, i replied, anticipating what was about to happen.

For the next 3 hours not one of us left the table, the 2 men did indeed know my father. They told me everything including what happened the night he died. They explained to me that the 3 of them were in the same 'family' and worked together. They told me that during a raid on another family, my father got too greedy and wound up dead. I did not need to know any more.

2 years later

For the past 12 months i had lived with Pepe and Brian. They looked after me even let me do a couple of 'jobs' for them. After 12 months training, crime had become second nature to me. I felt no remorse for the victims and was loving the way my life was going. One night Brian and Pepe told me that i was going to have an important meeting with a very important person but they would not tell me who.

The next day Pepe gave me a suit, he winked and said i would need it. I had never wore a suit before and put it on immediately. For once i felt good and looked it too if i didn't say so myself. We departed and headed off for the meet.

We pulled up outside a massive house, more like a mansion. On guard were men in suits, hat and rifles. We enetered the house and went upstairs, we were greeted by a man who called himself Skulls. Pepe told me to follow Skulls and he and Brian would wait downstairs for me. Skuuls took me down the corridor to a big door at the bottom, he opened it and told me to go ahead. Sitting in fornt of me behind a big desk was a relatively short man, dressed in the finest suit i had ever seen. He looked like a well respected man and i was starting to feel a bit nervous.

''Come and have a seat -Squaddie-, we need to talk.''

I sat down and the man poured me a glass of water and handed it to me.

''My name is Animal, i am the Don of La Cosa Ombra.'' he said in a firm but proud tone.

I knew what La Cosa Ombra was of course but had never heard of of this Animal.

''Briand and Pepe are 2 of my finest mafioso's, they have worked for me for 12 years. They have always told me great things about you, i am glad to finally meet you. They tell me you are ready......''

Ready? What on earth was he talking about? I was clueless as to what he meant.

''Excuse me Sir, but what do you mean ready?'' i said in a surprised tone.

He replied..

''It is about time you really got to know about La Cosa Ombra and what we are all about, i am offering you a job into the finest family in all of the states. Are you ready to take the next step and become a mafioso?''

My eyes widened, during my training with Pepe and Brian they had always told me that one day i would become one of them, but had to wait until they thought i was ready to take the next step. This must have been the step they were telling me about. I felt a sense of achievement and a smile beckon across my face. I had never felt so proud of myself in my whole life. This was the greatest achievement ever.

''Yes Sir, i would be honoured to become part of your family.'' i said with full of excitement.

Animal stood up and smiled, he took my hand and said...

''Welcome to La Cosa Ombra''

From that moment on i have never looked back, i am happy with my life and my family. Now all there is to do is to look to the future and see what is in store.........

Finishes listening to the story of one mafioso's trip through our world..

Good effort sir and thanks for sharing your story with our world. At least you put effort into your thread and are attempting to become more active in our community - unlike others who try to be active but do not put effort into it.

Keep up the good work..

Thinks about his own life..and then goes back into the Casino to gamble
