Xiphos, Jordan, and Jack Pepper were sitting in a family owned bar in New York City. Xiphos had called Clarity, asking he if she wanted to get a drink, relax, and enjoy the night. She had promptly agreed. The entire upper structure of New York had been quite busy the past few days, and they could all use some relaxation. He had a surprise for her though, something that was sure to put a smile on her face. He had gathered the whole syndicate together tonight in celebration.

"When is she supposed to be here?" Jordan had asked.

"She should have been here already, I told her to meet me 15 minutes ago." Xiphos replied, sipping his drink to calm himself.

He hoped she didn't forget. With all that's been on her mind, it wouldn't surprise him. It was just then that he had seen her silhouette in the far window. He looked around, making shushing noises making sure that everyone got quiet, so she wouldn't suspect anything more than business as usual. Clarity had made it to the door, but couldn't seem to get it open. He could see her face palm, and push the door open. She had forgotten that it was push, not pull. Xiphos chuckled to himself as she walked in.

"SURPRISE!" everyone yelled as she walked through the door.

He could see the shock on her face as she stared out at the crowd. Her face slowly transformed from shock to a large smile that reached from ear to ear. She knew exactly why they were here, but she didn't know it would happen. They had all agreed not to make a big deal of her reaching the rank of Godfather. It was an agreement that Xiphos refused to adhere, so he had gathered her entire city to celebrate. She made her way to the table that Xiphos, Jordan, and Jack were sitting at, giving a bit of a glare at Xiphos, but he smirked in return. It was her day, whether she liked it or not. When she sat at the table, Xiphos stood up, lighting a cigarette on the way. He knocked on the table a few times to get everyone's attention.

"Excuse me, all. I'd like to say a few words tonight. As we all know, our friend and colleague Clarity has reached a pinnacle in her career in this life. She has risen to the esteemed position of Godfather, now one of the two that currently hold the title in our world. It is an honor to be proclaimed a Godfather, and an honor that Clarity deserves."

He takes a moment to collect his thoughts before continuing. He scans the room, then looks down to meet Clarity's eyes.

"Clarity, it has been an extreme honor to have worked by your side for so many months. We saw our ups, and our downs, but you made sure that we made it through alright. You concern yourself more with the well being of those around you, rather than yourself. There are so many traits about you, that I've come to admire. It feels like we've grown up together. My father knew your mother, but we didn't meet until we were dragged into this life. It feels like a lifetime has gone by, and you have been one of the best friends I have. You've worked tirelessly to reach this position in order to better serve your city, and I can't think of another soul that I would desire to work for more. You've done so much for me, and I can only hope that in the days to come I can begin to repay the kindness that you've shown me."

Xiphos sets his glass, and his cigarette down. He makes his way to the other side of the table, and gives Clarity a hug. He straightens himself, and turns back out to the crowd. "I've never been that good at speeches, but I tried. However, I would now like to pass this along to Jordan, who has more to add to my inadequate speech."

He turns his gaze to Jordan.

"All yours dear."

The phone in Jordan’s office rang loudly and there was a pile of envelopes on her desk waiting for her attention. It seemed for every correspondence she answered she received ten more. It was a busy day for the leader and she loved every minute of it. All of the work made the successes in business worth celebrating. There was no bigger success than the one that made Jordan rush out of her headquarters that evening to celebrate with her colleagues in New York.

The crowd in the bar put a smile on Jordan’s face. She enjoyed seeing the New York families mingle and celebrate together. It was a rare occasion to see all of them in one place. After making rounds to greet everyone Jordan sat at a table with Xiphos and JackPepper. The big moment of the evening was when the new Godfather of New York arrived. Jordan smiled proudly as Xiphos stood up to say a few words about Clarity. When he was finished Jordan stood up beside him for her turn.

“Godfather.” Jordan addressed Clarity by her newly earned title. “That has a nice sound to it.”

A few people in the bar nodded to agree while others applauded and raised their glasses.

“It’s hard to believe how long it’s been since first time I heard you talk on the streets and thought to myself, there’s someone I‘d like to work with.” Jordan thought back to when she was a young mobster in Chicago. “I didn’t know what to expect when I joined your family. Other than a few things I heard you talk about in public I knew very little about you. Our bloodlines hadn’t worked together in the past, or so I thought. I was surprised when you told me our ancestors worked together a very long time ago here in the great city of New York.”

The mention of their beloved city got another cheer from the crowd.

“As I said I didn’t know what to expect, but where we are today is far more than I could have hoped for back then. From Chicago to New York you’ve lead a family of respected and honorable mobsters. When you have a good group of people working for you and constant requests to join your organization it says something about your leadership. There are a lot of qualities to admire and respect about you, but the one that stands above the rest for me is that you take care of your own. An obvious example is the protection you hired for myself and others. Another was about a week ago in the middle of a busy night you contacted me privately in one of the coffee shops to remind me of a small detail I forgot then you took it upon yourself to take care of it for me. For that and everything else you’ve done for me I’ll always be grateful. I have the utmost respect for people who think of others as much as themselves.”

Jordan paused for a moment to pick up a glass of champagne from the table.

“Working for you has been a memorable experience. I’m proud of you and happy to see you achieve the most honorable title in this thing of ours. From working for Godfather Kimble in New Orleans to becoming Godfather of New York you’ve accomplished what most people dream of. Congratulations, Clarity.”

Mercury hears all the commotion upon the announcement of Godfather Clarity. She applauds with the crowd then picks up her glass and raises it.

Congratulations Clarity!

ISeeYou  watched the surprsie on Clarity's face as she walked in and everyone yelled surprise. Waiting his time he walked up to Clairty to offer his congratulations in person.

Godfather, three generations of my family have faithfully served you and the Family. We knew that with enough hardwork you and the Family would rise to the very top. Today is the day that we have long awaited the day where all your accomplishements have been rewarded with the ulimate reward. I and my bloodline will forever be by your side.

Sammich stands up with champagne glass in hand. He raises his glass toward Clarity.

Clarity our bloodlines have known each other for some time. In that time I've seen you grow so much. I'm proud that I have been a part of your New York and I'm proud to see what you have built in your short time in New York. I look forward to working with you for a long time and continuing to develop the city. Congratulations on your new position of GodMOTHER. You have earned it and I'm very proud of you!

Congratulations Clarity.

I remember reading in my fathers journals about him working with you back in Chicago. It seemed like you two had some laughs and some times where laughter wasn't really the first thing that came to mind. Over my short time here, I have grown to respect you greatly, you have been the Godfather of New York for a long time in my eyes.

Once again, Congratulations.

Sam was giddy. It had been a hell of a day and he'd lost a damn fine lover to a tragic accident. Betsy was in the ground and so Sam was deep in his glass. As Xiphos launched into the surprise it surprised Sam who had been away with the fairies, staring through the glowing glaze of a champagne glass and thinking back on those tender afternoons having violent sex with Betsy in his favourite caravan. He remembered smoking post coital cigarettes and staring out the caravan window across the dahg covered waste land, wondering when the cops may come and move the camp site on again, with it moving on his love. Heady days. Now gone. Xiphos' voice cracked his dream. He looked up and was struck like a bullet by the sight of Clarity entering the room.

He had seen the acting Godfather of the city many times around town but never like this. Standing resplendent in her new suit, she walked with an ethereal grace that stopped Sam's heart dead. His breath caught in his throat he stood clumsily, his feet betraying him, he almost spilled his drink. He felt as clumsy as a love struck teen. But this was different, this wasn't some adolescent infatuation. This was a reverential appreciation of one of the world's rare and beautiful things. Sam ripped up in applause, cheering heartily with the others. What a woman!

He waited patiently as various people approached before he dared go near the majestic creature. He approached softly so as not to startle the fabulous vision before him. The closer he got the more painfully aware he became that he was prowling with cat like motions, past virtually all of New York's most hardened criminals and murderers. Padding cat-like toward the most fearsome of them all, the Godfather of the city. He caught hold of himself and stood up straight. Reaching Clarity he bowed respectfully and tried not to dwell on the fact he was just walking across the room like some love-struck panther.

Godfather Clarity. Congratulations on this momentous day and acquiring the status befitting your role as matriarch of our beloved city. My deepest respects and congratulations to you on this most joyous occasion.

Stuck for anything further to add he bowed again and turned away. Noticing Xiphos and Jordan smirking at him he chuckled and grabbed Xiphos by the shoulder.

Congratulations to you too my friend. Its a fine thing to see you here in this shiny new suit. Loud and proud baby, you'll do well for us all I'm sure.

Turning to Jordan who stopped giggling long enough to do a stalking cat impression, he winked.

Ok ok. You know how I am. I'll be sober tomorrow and then I'll be after you young lady! Right now its all I can manage to get out of this building with my dignity in tact.

He wandered toward the door with Jordan's mocking voice telling him that ship had long since sailed. As he got closer to the door he saw Jack, Scream and Sammich all standing together, shaking their heads in unison while stifling smirks. He lowered his head as he walked past, smiling to himself.

I know I know. I'm sorry. I'm drunk. Its been a long day...

Stamina approaches Clarity holding a glass of champaigne in one hand, raising it towards the new Godmother

Godmother Clarity, I've known you since you first stepped foot on these streets. Starting out life in New Orleans as a lowly Gangster, we've seen you rise the ranks to stand where you are now...

I'm not going to take all your time by keeping you busy with my ramblings, but I wanted to tell you that I've seen the good work you've done through my involvement with you and your city. Ever present and leading from the top, I think we all know you shall continue to grow New York and make your members proud.

Taking a drink of the whiskey in her glass Melody walked over to Clarity and put a hand on her shoulder.

"I am so glad to see you as Godmother. I am even more honoured to have worked with you. You've worked so much to get here and I couldn't miss it. You've been an inspiration to myself and I know others. I like to keep my speech small and sweet.

Taking another drink, Melody raises her glass in the air.

"The best you my dear Clarity and to all of New York."

Jack was nervous with anticipation sitting in the old familiar bar with Xiphos and Jordan. Clarity was always a prompt lady, her tardiness this evening had Jack on edge. He was chain smoking and drinking far to much to calm himself. He snuffs out his cigarette and lights another when the door slams open and Clarity emerges squealing as we all yell

SURPRISE!!!

Clarity made her rounds greeting everyone in the bar. As she approached Jack he snuffed out the cigarette he had just finished, took a sip of his whiskey and stood to greet Clarity and congratulate her.

Clarity this is quite the achievement and well deserved. I remember when I was newly set up and you approached me with the proposal to become your partner in crime as we ventured out to the streets of New York to rebuild. I accepted the opportunity without hesitation I had the feeling then that you would achieve greatness here in New York and today is one more step towards your pinnacle of greatness. We've long been awaiting the day that you would challenge the reigning power and succeed. It gives me great pleasure to see this coming to fruition.

I have enjoyed every moment of being your partner and even more pleasure to see you on top. Congratulations my dear friend!

Jack knowing that Clarity had many more people to speak to didn't want to take up all her time. He gave her a hug and raised his glass of whiskey and shouted to the rest of the bar

Tony_Scarpone sips his Champagne as he awaits his opportunity to approach Clarity.  After she sees a few of her associates Tony approaches.

“I’m honored to be a part of this moment of yours, and the city of New York under the leadership of Godfather Clarity.”

Tony discreetly slips Clarity a sealed envelope in tribute.

Tunechi is walking past when he heard good news in the streets. He stops and wants to say few words so he clears his throat.

"Congratulations Charity, This is a great day for New York, It is always great seeing a city grow. You have been running city for while now and I know you will carry on doing a great job. So well done on getting Godfather."

Tunechi carries on walking disappearing into dark.

Crouched down behind a chair, drunk as a skunk Fist-O jumped out as Clarity walked by greeting everyone.  Fist-O yelled,

SURPRISE CLARITY!!!  Congratulations! I'm so proud of you!

Fist-O grabs a bottle of wine.

I would also like to make a short announcement.  I would just like to say to everyone that nothing pleases me more than to see Clarity where she is today.  Though I've known her for only a short time she has taught me so much about this world than I could even have time to list.  I have every faith that she will continue to run this great city full of all these great amazing people. 

Today is a great day ladies and gentlemen.  Today will be remembered for some time, the day Clarity made her dreams a reality.  We love you Clarity.  Congratulations!

Fist-O raises bottle of wine and takes a great big drink.  She then proceeded to stumble/run towards Clarity and gave her a big hug.

Drake hears the news, and brings Godmother Clarity a gift basket with a bunch of treats and and drinks.

"Godmother Clarity! It is nice to see you achieve such a high position in this thing of ours. I am proud to see you here, and I know my father would have been too"

T-Man approaches Clarity and shakes her hand.He then sits down beside Clarity

Its so wonderful to see you as the Godmother of New York.You are a strong leader and I know you have worked very hard since the second you landed her in New York.I am so so proud to be working for the great city New York and you!Oh and please accept this bottle of red wine.The wine is the Italian`s finest.

T-Man then gets up and heads away from the crowd to the local pub

It's been a long time coming and I am delighted to see you take this chance Clarity.

Superman smiles at the new Godmother and flies off

After sitting at his table for a bit and catching up with a few old friends, Aeolus chugs the rest of his beer. He looks over at the bar and watches as Clarity chats and shakes hands with many of the people in the building. A familiar song with an upbeat tune begins to play and Aeolus stands up immediately. He makes his way towards the crowd and pushes through to jump on top of the bar. Dodging drinks here and there, he finally reaches Clarity's seat. He winks at her and puts out a hand to pull her up on the bar.

Ya know Boss, you've done some amazing things in this fine city and it's only the beginning. I look forward to working with you on a new, challenging level. I appreciate the opportunity you've blessed me with and all the dedication you've put forth into rebuilding New York.  Keep up the great work. Now how about we celebrate with a dance?
