It had been a hard couple of months for Carlo Gambino. He had been in and out of jail due to his involvement in the rackets. He was constantly being brought in on new charges and it was starting to disrupt his mental well being as well as Ligambi family business.
Carlo had gotten word from his jail cell to his long time boss and friend, Uncle Joe that he wanted to go back home to Sicily and lay low for awhile until the heat on him cooled down. Carlo figured the laid back island lifestyle would help him recuperate from the glitz and glamor of Hollywood. Carlo had done a great many things and put in a lot of work for Uncle Joe during his time as a caporegime within the family. He had cemented his reputation as a loyal hardworking man of honor.
For these reasons Uncle Joe would do everything he could do help him get back to their boyhood home and start his path of recovery. Uncle Joe made a call to a judge he had on the take and organized the release of Carlo while awaiting trail for his most recent bookmaking charges.
When Carlo got out he was picked up by members of his crew and whisked away for a farewell party that he wouldn't ever forget. When he arrived at Uncle Joe's compound he was greeted by the entire Ligambi crime family, even the Detroit faction had turned up to wish Carlo well and celebrate their time with him before his departure to Sicily. Uncle Joe made a toast to the man of honor and explained how business would go in his absence.
"With Carlo leaving to Sicily to let the heat die down and recuperate, his crew will carry on with Joseph Clemente stepping up as caporegime. Monella will step up as his number two in the crew and Soran will continue on as consiglieri. This is as solid of an administration we could ever ask for to carry on Carlos legacy with the family."
Uncle Joe paused for a moment before holding up a glass of champagne.
"We'll miss you Carlo, just know that while you're away we'll keep stuffing an envelope for you and keep you in our hearts. Ligambi blood forever."
Uncle Joe reached out and embraced his dear friend Carlo and wished him well. He informed him that he would never be more than a phone call away and that he would keep in touch. Carlo hugged Joe and thanked him for everything. The two would miss each other deeply but business must go on and Carlo knew he was leaving his crew and operation in great hands.
The party raged through the night as drinks were poured and laughs were had. Carlo carried the weight of the troops and would be missed by all. With sunrise quickly approaching Carlo made his way to his limousine. He didn't want to miss his ship home. The entire family bowed and waved as they hoped to see Carlo again in the not so distant future.
It was business as usual for the Ligambi crime family.
