Boxing, a heads up to plan for the future Started by: Squishy on Feb 25, '25 05:34

TL;DR - Boxing coming soon, train some BGs of various skill levels and distributions if you want to have some ready for boxing beta.

We will be rolling out a beta of Boxing in a few weeks (only the fighting side, betting against each other will come in the following update)

I am giving a pretty large heads up so that you may prepare by having a few trained BGs in different tiers.  The way boxing is written, there are strategies that you can use to edge things into your favor, however, things that work well in some tiers may not work well in others.  I suggest training up a few different tiers so that you can really play around and come up with your own methods.

It uses the BG stats that you train to fight the Durden Raids.  People will be grouped to participate in their own tiers which is a total of all their BG skills (and a few other things) for that particular BG.  For example, if you have 37 points, you can fight people in the 35-39 tier.

These are the quantity/contributions of the stats that make up the tiers:

max of 10 Wack (Counts as 10 points) (Attack related. Reduces energy cost.)
max of 10 Defense  (Counts as 10 points) (Defense related. Increases energy recovery.)
max of 10 Stealth  (Counts as 10 points) (Boosts success to pulling off an attack. Negates opposing fighters countermove/counterattack)
max of 10 Info  (Counts as 10 points) (Boosts success to countermove/counterattack.  Negates opposing fighters stealth)
max of 5 Rage (Which is 10 training - counts as 5 points, but can be applied to any skill as needed during the fight) (Will be used in events of two fighters doing opposing moves which ends in a "tie" and uses some rage as a tiebreaker)
If HP is above 100, its 1 point for every 5 HP above 100 rounded up.
If HP is below 100, its -1 point for every 5 HP below 100 rounded down.
Every fight adds 0.0X.  Every win adds 0.0X.  Every loss subtracts 0.0X.

So basically: Grand Total of (Wack+Defense+Stealth+Info+(Rage * .5) + (HP Math) + (Record Math)

You will know your total points score, the public will only see the tier.

The tiers that can be fought in:

00-05 High Five Trained
06-09 Pillow Fight Trained
10-14 Not Trained
15-19 Slightly Trained
20-24 Trained
25-29 Well Trained
30-34 Very Well Trained
35-39 Extremely Well Trained
40-44 Obscenely Well Trained
45-49 Insanely Well Trained
50+ God Tier

Setup:

Moves each have their own energy cost, damage given

You pick your gameplan ahead of time by building a list of moves (or selecting from previous saved ones, defaults or random) for each turn.  You pick enough to ensure you can finish the fight.  Every tick, it compares your move against theirs, does the math, and proceeds until the next tick.  This continues until someone wins.  It is narrated on a specific lounge channel for the public to see.

Fighters in general do not die, however manipulating your tier by coming in with lower HP is a risky move.  It is possible for a fighter to die if they start the fight with very low HP and the finishing move is a critical while the other fighter is 'still fresh' and hits like a truck.
