The young man looked up from his task and viewed the large clock hanging on the wall. Four-thirty. Thirty more minutes until the bank closed. Ninety more minutes until his janitorial duties were done with. Ninety minutes. A lifetime. He went back to work as he thought about what had him in such a state of anxiousness. The contact from his boss was supposed to have gotten in touch with him yesterday in order for him to start the preparations for the heist in a week. One day wasted, and there was no telling when the contact would actually show. He hoped it wouldn't take too long; while stable, he hadn't signed up with a family to do janitorial work. He was hoping to impress his boss with this job; hoping to show him that he could be relied upon, that he would come through and not choke under the pressure of the big jobs. He needed this job to go off right to get any higher in the family. He glanced at the clock again. Four-fifty-eight. Almost time for the bank to close. But still an eternity before his shift ended and he got to resume his waiting elsewhere. |
