This letter is addressed to the high ranking mobsters of Philadelphia.
If you find the desire to share this with those you trust, the doggo doesn't mind.
After all, as the mobsters and thus watchful guardians of Philadelphia,
it is your oath to decide what is necessary to keep your city alive... and thriving.
On that note, let's discuss the city of Philadelphia. And how her leader came to be.
You see, your leader Cadhla comes from a long line of mobsters. She is very long in the tooth, but perhaps not as wise as she should be. She's been around the block over and over again. Yet she always seems to one of the more fortunate lines, who often seems to land on her feet. Always seems to be given positions of power. Always seems to just, get away with it...
My ancestors have crossed paths with the Ladyfighter Cadhla line for many generations. We're not friends, but nor would I consider us real enemies. But I am well aware of what her line gets up to. Both the good and the bad. I'm sure she's heard plenty about my line, too. Hopefully her bloodline understand this is not personal but given the history of limited yet revealing interactions between us in the past, I will not bank on that. I dare say this may be the straw that breaks the camels back - this may be what gets the dog. We'll see.
For anyone who may have seen me wandering the streets, you likely already know... I'm Dog aDog Doggo. I'm a good boy. And I'm here with a treat for you today. I'm not convinced you all deserve a treat, I'm sure some of you are as guilty as our Cadhla here. But well see... We'll see how many true monsters still reside in this thing of ours.
Over the years, my family have thought it wise to collect... Information. Artefacts. Evidence even, maybe. We've always tried to be fair with it. We've tried not to abuse the positions we have been entrusted. Again, for those who are experiencing the dog for the first time.... We've tried out best forever to be fair in our dealings throughout my entire line. However, this is not a fair world. There is nothing just about mafia. My life failed to understand this for too long.
So back to the artefact... Don't worry, we do have one here... You will see it. But first, let me set the scene...
In years gone by... The future of Detroit was looking bright... At the time, at the the top of the Detroit's criminal underground sat two of this world's most powerful mobsters.... Corky and Music.
Now, I understand you're all busy people, far too wrapped up in what's happening today in this very moment, so I'll try to keep the history lesson brief.
Corky ran Detroit from Bricktown and put great trust in Music, authorising them to run Corktown as her counterpart. Before long, as always happens, the men in suits came knocking for Corky. She was murdered and her most loyal men were attacked alongside her. However, it turned out Corky unfortunately had less loyal oath takers than they were actually aware of. You see, Godfather Corky was under the impression that Godfather Music was their closest ally. Why would they not be? They gave them everything in this life. Without Corky, who would have even known who Music was? Not many, that's for sure. However, that's not how history played out. While Corky's most loyal men were being ripped to shreds, limb by limb, in a flurry of bullets, Music and their cowardice band of yesmen remained silent. They did not even appear in this thing of ours. They hid. All day. Cowering. Like cowards. Only when all of Corky's most (actually) loyal were dead and the lies and excuses had been spewed in the streets did Music reappear.
When approached, she would claim she was entirely unaware, blissfully ignorant. Some of the more honourable mobsters around the globe waited and watched with pause. It sounds like a load of rubbish, right? She just so happened to be elsewhere while this all happened and arrived just too late to do anything about it. Okay, sometimes it happens, really, it must do, right? The law of averages dictates it must. So they all watched... and waited... They were waiting to see if Music had a spine or if Music was yet another puppet on strings. Did they have any care or compassion for this thing of ours? Or did they just hope to consume it unnecessarily? To abuse their friendships... and loyalties?
Music never shot back. She never defended the person who gave her everything in this world. On the contrary. Music went on to take over the city. We've records from the time showing that Music claimed this was best for those loyal to her. Corky was loyal to her. As was she supposed to be to Corky. But that didn't matter to her now. She had her city.
A fair amount of time has since passed since this event, but it is still relevant to today's history. You see, Godfather Music may be dead and buried, but they are in fact directly related to your Godfather Cadhla. I wonder if the apple has fallen far from the tree? I wonder if you all are worth more to Cadhla than Corky was to Music? I do not know, if I am honest with you - I wish I could tell you which of you are worthless and should expect the chopping block. I wish my knowledge stretched that far. Unfortunately, I am giving you what I know. The rest is up for you all to decide.
Music went on to pay for her sins, but at great cost to many real mobsters around here. Family lines that did and do care about what this place is supposed to mean. After a long time hoping Music would step up into Corky's large shoes and become a prize example of what a Godfather should be, eventually some of the mobsters got restless. It had been months of hoping. It was time to right the wrong. These mobsters were powerful, but not in charge of making the decisions. So they asked for a meeting to discuss such matters. During the meeting, the more powerful bloodlines at the time made the decision. It turns out they agreed, Music and her counterpart in Corktown, Slash, were to be removed.
While the mid-level mobsters offered to take care of the entire matter themselves, in an attempt to please those holding the strings, they were refused. The top table wanted to participate. They wanted to run the show. Perhaps they too were real mobsters after all! They produced the plans and it was set in motion. See? I told you there was an artefact... Unfortunately, I have been forced to redact the identifier on the owner of the sheet, so this is where you may need to trust me, but hopefully I can earn that trust in this last part.
The owner of the sheet was from the bloodline of 'JTG' - or JesusTheGangster. He's had many names and been around for a very long time. In fact, he was a bloodline mine once heavily respected. We believed our bloodlines had a mutual understanding of what this place is supposed to be. I know... Foolish. My bloodline were warned so many times throughout their generations, but they like to collect their facts first hand. Honestly, my bloodline should have known better than to trust them. JTG had shown many signs and reasons to distrust, even as early as the first generation my bloodline met his. It wasn't long before my bloodline even had details about JTGs very private shooters that he'd been hiding within the depths of the game... Back then, most of which went by the name Niflheim, we're told.
So you see, it has been obvious to my family line for a very long time that most of the blood on these shores cannot be trusted. Not even after many generations of tentatively testing that trust.
We, my bloodline, have been wrestling with the great strains that have been weighing on our shared consciousness since the first days we arrived here. We've decided it's time to put down the weapons and step away from the hunger for power. We've decided to stop abusing our knowledge, information and prowess for our own self-absorbed run at participation. We've decided to use our power for good... Like Ben would have wanted. We've decided to share the truth about the scourge of Mafia.
Hey... I was just looking at this artefact one last time before it left my possession and I noticed and extra list at the bottom... What was maybe a safe list? Not sure... But there's one name that stuck out to me: "Woof" - haha, I hope you're out doing living your best life, Woof!
Thank you for your time, mobsters of Philadalphia.
Please do forgive me for the disturbance, I'm sure you are all very busy people.
I hope it was worth your time.
