The Garden Of Delights Started by: Father_OMalley on Mar 20, '25 01:31

OOC: For everyone…

One of Father OMalleys great pleasures was reading to the little orphan children that found their way to Church Of Guinness. Lately he had noticed an abundance of these orphan children, so he thought it would be a tremendous time to read them one of his all time favorite stories… The Garden of Delights!

“Gather ‘round now little childrens”, he said with a smile… “Its story time with Father OMalley. Make sure you’ve got your listening ears on!”

Once upon a time, in a far away land, there was a wonderous kingdom, celebrated for its beauty and harmony. At the heart of this kingdom grew a grand garden, known as the Garden of Delights. It flourished with vibrant flowers, lush trees, and fruit so sweet that one taste could make a person smile for a week. It was a place where the kingdom’s people gathered to celebrate, relax, and find joy in each other's company.
The garden had been cultivated by generations past and lovingly maintained by the current king, King Alistair. His benevolent rule ensured that everyone had access to this shared treasure. It was a source of pride and unity for the entire kingdom.
However, there was one man who admired the garden with a different kind of gaze. His name was Marcus, a wealthy landowner known for his envy and greed. Marcus had vast lands of his own, though they paled in comparison to the magnificence of the Garden of Delights.

One day, Marcus devised a cunning plan. Under the guise of a generous offer, he approached King Alistair and proposed to buy the land at an exorbitant price. “With this gold, Your Majesty, you could improve the kingdom’s infrastructure or aid those in need,” he suggested.
King Alistair, aiming to do the best for his people, reluctantly accepted the deal, believing it to be in the kingdom’s best interest.

With the Garden of Delights now in his possession, Marcus did something no one expected—he closed it off from everyone, including himself. He hired guards to patrol its borders day and night, ensuring no one could set foot inside.
“What are you doing?” the villagers asked Marcus in bewilderment. “Why can’t we enjoy the garden as we always have?”
Marcus replied with a sharp look. “If I can’t have the satisfaction of enjoying it alone, then no one shall. Your joy from this garden has always overshadowed mine.”

Seasons changed, and the once-celebrated Garden of Delights began to wither. Without the care and love of the people, its vibrant flowers faded, and the once-lush trees turned barren. The enchanting place that once unified the kingdom and brought joy to its people became a symbol of desolation and greed.
Years passed, and Marcus grew older. Despite his riches, he found little solace or happiness. His fields, though prosperous, offered him no genuine joy, and the absence of the garden's beauty left a void in his heart.
One cold winter night, riddled with regret and loneliness, Marcus wandered to the edge of the forgotten garden. Gazing through the iron gates, he realized the folly of his actions. By hoarding the garden, he had deprived himself of shared joy and the kingdom of a treasured place.
Driven by his newfound remorse, Marcus called a meeting with all the villagers. “I have wronged you all,” he confessed. “I let my envy destroy what was precious to everyone.”

Even though they had REALLY gotten tired of his shit, the Villagers saw sincere regret in Marcus’s eyes. They banded together and came up with a plan to restore the garden. They cleared the dead plants, tilled the soil, and planted new seeds. Slowly but surely, and with a lot of hard work and even more love… the Garden of Delights was revived! And this time, its beauty seemed even more profound, for now it also symbolized forgiveness and unity!
Marcus, having learned the true value of shared joy, spent his remaining days nurturing the garden alongside the villagers. He discovered that happiness multiplies when shared, and that true richness comes from the bonds we build with one another.

And so, the Garden of Delights flourished once more, and its story became a moral tale told to generations: that holding onto something out of envy and greed only breeds sorrow, while generosity and sharing happiness bring true fulfillment.

Voldemort had heard of a wise man telling a tale in the streets and his curiosity was piqued. He wandered around until he had finally heard a loud booming voice echoing from a loud alleyway. He stopped, leaned against a wall and listened intently, as the story was told it was as if he was being dragged into the world, he could feel the emotions, he could see the story unfolding right in front of him

This was a great tale Father, It was almost as if I was currently living it, or maybe, I am and it took the amazing story to make me realize it. Thank you for sharing, it has opened my eyes to the real... or not so real world we live in

Millicent liked spending time at the church for numerous reasons. It was really pretty inside, with the high ceilings, colorful windows that told stories and changed when the sun blazed through them. But most importantly, it was quiet. Which was something that could not be said for the orphanage she had been stuck in for the last two weeks.

At first she came to the church because of the quiet. Then, because of the choir practice. But now there was a new draw, story time with Father_OMalley which she had only just discovered. Millicent sat in the back, knees drawn up to her chin and arms wrapped around them trying to be as small and unobtrusive as possible whilst she listened with rapt attention.

When it was over Millicent found herself speaking, something she didn't do very often but her brain was abuzz with questions. "'Scuse me mister, Father Sir," Millie said, "But if his crops brought him no joy, why didn't he try planting something better like strawberries? Everybody knows that strawberries are yummy."
