Background Story:

Andre grew up in the poorest neighborhood on the outskirts of New York, a rugged suburb known as Hempstead. His family was fully thrusted into Poverty but his parents tried to maintain the middle class appearance by providing all they could for their two children. Andre and Dominic being the youngest. It wasn't the roughest of neighborhoods in comparison to Harlem or a few other places deeper in New York, but it still had its problems. Being a segregated neighborhood, it lacked funding for the local schools and job opportunities were often scarce leaving many families on the street or in boarded up abandoned houses next to drug addicts.

It was a rough upbringing to say the least, but Andre learned early in his teen years how to survive. In the late 40s after the war, the economic prosperity and growth brought many good things to his neighborhood as the downtown area finally was paved with solid roads, but this new infrastructure brought more crime and drugs to this impoverished community and by the age of 17 Andre had already dropped out of school and was a full time drug dealer in his neighborhood, and it wasn't long before violence would hit close to home.

In 1949 at the age of 20 his house was shot up by rival drug dealers, his mother had been in the kitchen and was hit by bullets that sprayed the house, leaving Andre without his mother but also stricken with revenge. Later that year, it would be said he murdered the man who pulled the trigger and killed his mother, and in turn while wiping out his rivals, became the kingpin of his little suburb of Hempstead and in turn earning his nickname "Philthy Rich" for the amount of money he was bringing in from the heroin trade.

For the next six years he would expand his drug empire from the small little suburb in Hempstead to the gritty streets of New York where he was supplying some local dealers out of the Bronx and a small hole in the wall front known as "Club Sugarline".. Being a man of color though was rough, and in a world where organized crime was dominated by the Italians, it was only a matter of time before some came knocking and he had to pay for protection, this was the price of business and how he became associated with the Mafia.
