| The HQ Bodyguard | Started by: Jessie_Pinkman on Mar 05, '12 07:35 |

Ok the title kinda sums up the idea, I will try to go through the ideas of how they could work and improve the game hopefully.
A seperate BG management page for the HQ. CL's/RH/LH would be able to buy BG's at a higher price, I would suggest something based on how many members there are in the family, and the Upkeep cost is based on this also. with it being careful for it to be affordable to any type of family and not to be abused by rogues or members of the community that would have the cash to abuse it by donating.
The HQ Bodyguard for each one would give the entire family +0.5 of a BG's defence to their management when in their home city (Or town when added) but one whole BG in value on their profile.
The Made+ members of a family would recieve the full 1 boost per HQ bg to their management while in their home city.
Example; a gangster/WG in a family with 15 HQ Bg's would make someone whom didnt have BG's Show Well Protected in their profile while in their home city (Or town when the changes are made) but would only give 7.5 value of actual BG's.
Example 2; Made+ in a family with 15 HQ Bg's would make someone whom had 45 BG's Show Extremely Well Protected in their profile rather then the normal Very Well Prtected they would normally have while outside their home city (Or town when the changes are made) and would give a full extra 15 value of actual BG's.
Both examples based on all 15 BG's being at 100 HP each.
HQ BG's would be able to be shot - The only way they could be killed/damaged would be by shooting at a member of the familys BG's while in the home city/town Other then this, they are unshootable. It would have to be made random wether you would hit the players personal BG's or the HQ BG's when shooting at a members BG's in their home city. Personals on the BG's being shot would automatically go to every member when they was attacked but the CL/RH/LH are the only ones with access to the mangement page for them.
To avoid any BG kills being lost once a crew was to fall, the amount of HQ BG's would automatically be added to the deceased CL's BG's regardless of location.
If a family member does happen to die in their home city/town only their own personal BG's would be shoot at once they was dead.
On the management page, there would have to be a way of choosing which members you wish your HQ bg's to affect incase a CL/RH/LH should need to kill one of their own protected members in their home city without risk of either shooting their HQ bg's or it protecting the member. (There would be no extra benefit to anyother members for turning it off for another member)
I'm not sure if im missing anything on how they work... But now onto discussing. Why would they improve MR?
Familys would be more like familys, Everyone would have more of a goal for donating, CL's are able to use funds not only to defend themselves and main hitters with BG's but the entire family. It will give back some power over the fresh off the boats, as they really will need the family more, and will have to prove their worth for a CL to want to let them have the protection of the HQ BG's.
I am willing to discuss the idea more, But would like to hear other peoples views/improvments.
Can you think of any cons to this? Could it work? How would you improve the idea further? |

one thing you didnt mention. Is it fair if 15 bgs are protecting 20 members at one time? is that how you want it? or would a bg only be able to protect 1 player at 1 time. |

The idea's they are in the HQ at the time, and they cost alot more in upkeep and original price to buy depending on how many they are protecting |

Id consider that BGs could be hired through the Hq then assigned to members at the CLs choice. |

How is that impossible? Think about it in a role play basis, The HQ is a building and if you were in your home city you would expect the CL to send a group of BG's to your house? while leaving other members unprotected? I think not. |

I think this would be a great addition to the game. We have all heard of the "home city boost" so why not re-enforce this idea of strength at home, and even make it possible to take this benefit out of effect with some force. It is perfectly reasonable to be able to feel a bit more secure while operating in your own home city. In the godfather, when Michael Corleone goes to war, there is a scene where he drives up to his mansion and it is surrounded by armed guards. They are not his Family but 'hired help' and they are there to protect his headquarters, not him. If he were to fly out to say, Vegas, those guards would remain and protect his headquarters, including everyone in it. |

I like the idea. It brings the citys HQ into play if there is a war. Makes a lot of sense. People would often lose an attack if they were in there HQ with a lot of BG's around them. I like way the CL's BG's count for the Made man and up too. Of course there wouldnt be 50 BG's stuck to the CL all the time. They would help out the rest of the family too. |

Buxton, you seem to be forgetting the fact that a hq is a stronghold for defence, no the other family won't line up outside. But it is not unrealistic that you would most likely be able to get back to your hq to hide once you have attempted to wack someone. In a different city you would have no stronghold to defend yourself, other than the bodyguards you haul onto planes to follow you around. All parts of your organisation should feel safer on home turf, and as a family it would give a goal that benefits all rather than just your leader. If a family were to decide to attack you while you are in your city they should automatically be on the backfoot, being out of their own city. Out of their own comfort zone, hopefully this idea would promote members to operate mainly in their own city. |

There is already a home city boost? Is there not? Perhaps a rumour. Perhaps not. Been here as long as I have though. |

This is infact a "Rumour" unless there is some fact somewhere to confirm it, Its a rumour, Which is infact fine, We work off of alot of rumors in MR. I personally believe there is a "Home City/HQ boost" depending on size of the HQ and members whom work for it is already part of the game, but could just be improved.
The "Rumor" has been around as long as myself aswell.
This feature would... I feel "Bridge the gap" in a way between the masses of Bodyguards whom protect individuals which are mainly CL's and hitters, and the Unprotected newer players to the game.
This feature, would do such alot of things. What I see it could also add.
While you say Buxton, how can 50 people get protected by them all, Lets not confuse. You are adding the protection of 50 BG's at the gate of the HQ not 50 BG's following each person around at a cheaper cost.
With a family attacking a family with 50 of the HQ bodyguards, I am sure they would make sure they had backing behind them in order to kill atleast 50 Bodyguards in total.
HQ bodyguards would quite easily be able to be targetted, You kill 1 of these and you will be weakening every single one of the 50 members they are protecting. You would infact be able to target them directly by shooting at someone in their home city whom doesnt own any of their own Personal Bodyguards. The Idea so impossible anymore?
I could imagine it would mean alot of people kept their main work to their home city/home town... But is this such a bad thing? You can expect alot of people to want to stay near their HQ anyway? Adding a Visble home city/town protection is a step forward.
I ask you imagine the situation, Your in your home city, Your family is under attack, Your leader is in the HQ with another family at siege killing them off... Someone decides to have a pop at you... Your leaders BG's will stop fighting, and will Allow them to pass with the promise they are not after your leader... but you. Would they really let them pass? |

I agree with this idea mostly because of the home city advantage. This would, as was previously mentioned, make the home city much more important and make people, and newcomers take more time to decide what city to start up in. The changes this would bring about would make this game more interesting come wartime. |

Does the defense boost go away after the CL dies? |

Well yeah, if a leader dies they would become unemployed. But if a grace period came in, where as they are paid for an extra amount of time after that leader dies to continue to protect the HQ for awhile it could change wars in an interesting way. |

It all sounds like a great idea. In the case of if the CL dies, often times when a CL dies, someone else in the family takes over the banner, at least for the duration of the war. So, for a fee, couldn't the family BG's also move to the new family? After all, it's essentially the same family, just overseen by a different individual within the family. |

Actually Squishy I think I covered that.
I mean that the HQ BG's would then effectively be either left showing on any deceased members or on the CL's profile regardless of location |

Maybe when the CL dies, if somebody steps up in his place, that new CL could draw on the fact that their salary is already paid and if the new HQ is purchased soon enough, all HQ BGs could still remain in effect. Just so no rogue could claim those HQ BGs after a CL's death, maybe a password can be given. So that only a legitimate successor can claim those HQ BGs. |

I personally believe and "Auto successor" to these in any shape or form would be a bad move for the game, Every single war, or even death there would be someone whom felt they deserved the chance to continue their work, It would be taking away from the fact that leadership spots are choosen by the players in the game, not someone always continuing their former leaders work. |

It would also be players making the decision about successors and whatnot. If you make it automatic and have it go to the RH, it is still a player made decision, if the CL gives the "password" to any other player, it's still a player's decision. |
