| Speak Easy Radio Show-Episode 1: Smoke & Salvation | Started by: FatherMacklePenny on Apr 09, '25 02:33 |
Broadcast live from Rosalie’s Speakeasy, behind the altar and with my favorite nun.
"This is FatherMacklePenny—Mac, for the lawless and the lost. Broadcasting live from the confessional in Sinners Saved Church, where the walls have ears, the liquor has regrets, and forgiveness flows slower than traffic during a body dump." "Now, before we pass the offering plate, let’s offer up some honest critique. Our dear associate QuackersFeatherbeak—bless his trembling typewriter—recently produced what he claims is a newspaper." "I say 'claims' because if truth were ink, that paper was typed by a blind man. A structural disaster. Misspellings, misquotes, and enough filler to stuff a mattress. I laughed. I cried. Mostly because my eyes were bleeding from the content." "Quackers, if you're hearing this from your birdcage office—keep publishing. You’re a vital reminder that literacy is not a given in this life of crime."
The Holy Giveaway — “Guess to Be Blessed” "Moving along, sinners. I’ve got blessings to hand out like candy at a crooked communion." "I am officially launching the Durden Mapping Giveaway. No, it ain't geography class. This is a test of guts, intuition, and divine randomness." "I’ve chosen a number between 1 and 5,000, divinely whispered to me by a random generator I keep chained in the basement—fed only scraps and superstition." "The first soul to guess correctly wins 200,000 big ones and a full map to the next Durden spawn—because salvation is best served with interest." "Only one guess per wise guy. Submit via telegram, pigeon, smoke signal, or a whisper at confession. Deadline is within a week or if I run outta patience."

New Segment: CONFESSIONS FROM THE DEADBOX "Got a bone to pick with the guy who whacked you? Want your final words broadcast to the living, the guilty, and the indifferent?" "Introducing: Confessions from the Deadbox — the only segment where ghosts get the mic." "Send me your post-mortem messages. Curse your killer. Forgive your crew. Spill secrets from beyond the scoreboard. If it’s entertaining, it’s getting airtime." "All submissions will be read dramatically, judged harshly, and possibly monetized on the next episode." "Make death worth dying for."
Confessions In Stereo — Interview with a Nobody "Tonight, seated across from me with the confidence of a wet sock in a knife fight, is a man I picked up off the sidewalk and mistook for someone with ambition. His name? Doesn’t matter. We’ll call him Greasy Fingers, cause he leaves fingerprints at every crime scene and dignity at none." Greasy: "I heard you was lookin’ for voices, Mac. Thought I’d swing by, talk my truth, y’know?" Mac: "Your truth, huh? Most people swing by with a bottle or a bribe. You brought a warm soda and half a sentence." Greasy: "We got operations out west. Booze, smokes, some backroom cards. Keepin’ it tight, low-profile." Mac: "Low-profile is one way to put it. From what I hear, the only thing lower than your profile is your crew’s IQ average. You running a racket or a daycare for the criminally mild?" Greasy: "We run quiet for a reason. Cops don’t look where the noise ain’t." Mac: "Brilliant strategy. Hide in mediocrity until the feds just forget you exist. What’s your rank again?" Greasy: "Left-hand to the Capo." Mac: "Not the right hand?" Greasy: "Nah, that spot’s taken by his cousin. Nepotism, y’know em?" Mac: "And there it is. Your whole outfit’s built like a busted staircase: unstable, squeaky, and filled with relatives nobody invited. You got the charisma of a traffic cone and the business acumen of wet toast. Why should anyone care what you do?" Greasy: "I show up. I put in work. I’m loyal." Mac: "Loyal? To what—failure? Showing up isn’t noble if you keep bringing nothing to the table but bad breath and secondhand schemes. What do you want, really?" Greasy: "I want respect." Mac: "Respect is earned, not handed out like street flyers. You want airtime on my show, you better bring stories, scars, or stacks. Right now, all I see is a footnote in someone else’s obituary." Greasy: "That’s cold, Father." Mac: "Cold is the confessional after midnight, kid. Consider this your spiritual exfoliation. I scraped off the lies and left you with what’s real. You got potential—but so does landfill gas." Mac: "Next time, bring more than aspirations. Bring evidence you exist beyond a payroll mistake."

The High Bid Confessional — Buy Your Spotlight "Think you can do better than our soggy friend Greasy? Prove it." "The highest donor this week to FatherMacklePenny’s Radio Revival gets a full interview slot in Episode 2. Come with something worth confessing—or something worth denying with confidence." "This is your chance to carve your name into the annals of airwave infamy. Donations accepted in cash, diamonds, or favor-bound secrets."

This is the worst thing I have ever had the misfortune to have belt against my eardrums, and I have two toddlers at home who scream night and day. Why listen to a horrible radio show when you can get all your news from The Duck's Bill? Bonus: There are no advertisements in The Duck's Bill because Quackers does not need those poisonous advertising dollars. He won the lottery, you know. Somebody call the FCC to get this show off the air. It's terrible. Please God, make it stop. |

Whilst Mac was eating a Sammy and getting to know Sheila, he hears to his horror the screeching of a maniac outside his newly established radio show. Peering out into the courtyard he sees a disheveled homeless man shaking his fist. Catching only words of "Im a engrate, a louse and sod." He chuckles amusingly, retracting his head from the window. From there he throws the half eaten club sandwich down to the beggar and continues about exploring Sheila. |

Collecting his breath, Earl buttons his coat and begins to walk off, almost tripping over a discarded sandwich. Never one to waste a sammie, Earl bends down to pick it up. To his disgust, he sees that it is egg salad... "What kind of weirdo eats an egg salad sandwich on a date?" |

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: This lice-eating dummy Macklepenny could barely stay alive to the end of a single broadcast, so in the wake of his grisly and justified death I've spent an incredibly small amount of my vast fortune acquiring the Speak Easy Radio Show. It will begin operating as a subsidiary of The Duck's Bill with immediate effect. Thank you. |

After hearing both the broadcast, the subsequent gunshots and then Quackers nasally announcement, Simon turned off his radio. There were few things he agreed with QuackersFeatherbeak about - the numbering of his issues, the content of his paper, his still being alive rather than being plucked, roasted and consumed - but he could not disagree that the Speak Easy Radio Show being absorbed into The Duck's Bill was a bad thing. Certainly, it was better than in the cold dead artificially enhanced clutches of MacklePenny anyway. |
