| Bad Day To Be A Wise Guy | Started by: Riina on Apr 11, '25 14:12 |

Riina had just left the hospital after a long morning. He spent many hours in the trauma unit checking up on his loyal bodyguards who had been attacked early in the morning. Gunther, his most loyal protector, had been grazed in his groin and his family Morningwood was narrowly saved by the skilled surgeons at Cook County Hospital. Cletus, Gunther's brother, hadn't fared much better. He was in the intensive care unit but in stable condition. Riina opened the door to leave the hospital when a sea of flash bulbs went off. It seems word spread quickly in such a tight-knit town like Chicago. The media had been alerted of the mass attack perpetrated by unknown, faceless terrorists upon Riina and his entourage. He knew he couldn't just walk away without answering the public's questions about the attack and retaliation. With a deep breath, Riina turned back towards the camera to give them some answers. "Good evening everyone," "This morning, there was a heinous attempt on my life. At 8:15 in the morning, a hail of gunfire rocked my secondary headquarters in Detroit. I had been sleeping peacefully after closing out the day's affairs when the first shots were fired. My entourage was patrolling the perimeter of the building when the shooting began, killing and injuring many of my personal bodyguards. Because the walls are so thick, I did not immediately hear the commotion outside. It wasn't until a bullet sailed through my bedroom window and killed Barney, the man who usually watches my door, that I was startled awake. At the same moment, investigative journalist SimonTheSwanHunter dove into the room to alert me we were under attack." Riina hung his head for a moment, remembering Barney solemnly. "I rolled out of bed faster than a man my age should be able to and returned fire. I do not remember how many rounds I fired upon my attackers. I must have seen red at the loss of poor Barney and so many others. I do not remember firing and reloading so many times. It felt like the attack went on for hours, but it was likely only moments in reality. By the time the smoke cleared, there were no fewer than 16 Wise Guys from various mafia families laying dead around my building. I can't be sure I got all of my attackers, but I am confident I killed most of them. These men and women had come to attack me in my sleep without provocation or cause." "I can only assume they had hopes that I would sleep through the attack, and they could kill more of my protectors while no one noticed. I am an extremely lucky man to have friends like Simon, Spike, Cadhla, Santo, Miguel, Jimmy, Angelo, Marie, Craven, Spacepole and so many others who were ready to respond at a moment's notice. I have had many attempts on my life in the last few weeks and it is only thanks to them and God that I am here to speak with you all now." "I ask for privacy for myself and the families affected by this botched assassination attempt. To the innocent people who were potentially caught in the crossfire, I am sorry for the loss of your kin. To the loyal bodyguards I lost in this senseless attack, I say thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice. To the friends who came to my aid the moment they knew I needed help, I love you dearly." "To my enemies, go fuck yourselves." The flashbulbs again filled his eyes with light as he finished his statement. He thanked the reporters in the crowd for their patience. Rinna was sure this would be front page news across the nation by lunchtime. He moved quickly toward the waiting Rolls-Royce that was there to carry him off to a secure location. |

SimonTheSwanHunter was amongst the crowd gathered around Cook County Hospital to try and catch the Don's words. He had been late getting here thank to having to get a quick update printed so he was towards the back. He elbowed one paparazzo in the press, drawing a grunt as he tried to get nearer as Riina began to speak. He thought he heard his own name mentioned, twice in fact. Sadly he couldn't have been sure from his position over the noise and the complaints of photo Fred next to him. Did Riina call him his friend? Maybe. Probably. He was a popular guy. Had to get to the front though. So he kept shouldering forward thinking that if he had heard correctly, part of him lamented the missed exclusive, but another part was pleased that amongst all the chaos and the loss of poor Benny, or Burnie, or whatever the big guy who worried over Riina's door was called, his boss had remembered his name and the small role he had played. He hoped it meant more than the thanks Craven had once given FatGrin for his help, which had actually turned out to be a bullet in the back of the head and ignoring follow up questions about it. Before Simon could get through to the front and confirm exactly what had been said, Riina was climbing into a waiting Rolls-Royce and off to parts unknown. He sighed and then doubled down on the sigh-sigh as he turned and saw QuackersFeatherbeak sidling up to him with all the grace of a constipated toddler. Probably looking for Simon to give him content for his forgotten rag seeing as he was kind of a big deal these days. Simon wasn't in the mood for any of his nonsense. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 were how you ordered things, everyone knew that. Before Quackers could speak, Simon took a page out of Jimmy's book and copied Riina. "Go fuck yourself," he said and swaggered off. |

Spike listens to the speech and quickly takes down the only part he actually heard on a piece of paper with a pen.
"I am an extremely lucky man to have friends like... Spike"
Spike takes this and puts it on top of the trophy chest on top of a dresser. It stands with many others like it. Riina likes looking at these keepsakes, and is reminded of them often, fondly. |

I like to think of this whole thing as a "Reap what you sow" kind of moment. We act as if leadership has not sowed the rage and anger that is currently directed at them. If you hold every line down now that you do not like, do not act surprised if one or two decide they have had enough of it. That just seems like solid logic. |

*Katerina watched as her leader came to the streets to describe the attempt on his life. While she was happy that he survived the attempt, she was more proud that he came out to give the details of the removal of various Wise Guys across the world.* Real shame on them who think they can attack our leaders and get away with it. Despicable actions by wannabe made men. *She glanced at Riina again and gave him a friendly nod before she went back to knocking over another post office.* |

Route took the first flight out of Vegas upon hearing his father had been gunned down. Knowing Detroit wasn't a safe place to be at the moment he landed in Chicago to get more information. He arrived at the Cook County hospital just as Riina was giving their account of what happened to reporters. Walking up to the crowd of reporters their camera bulbs snapping every few seconds in chaotic rhythm muffled the any words coming from Riina. Route turned sideways and tried to slither through some of the reporters to get closer, but by the time he got closer Riina was already on the move racing to a waiting car. |

"To the innocent people who were potentially caught in the crossfire, I am sorry for the loss of your kin." Oh, well that makes it all better then, right Riina? I don't notice any offer of compensation to the unfortunate mobsters slain without any sort of intel to incriminate them, are they supposed to just accept what you've done without question? 17 dead, with only guesswork to guide your aim. You can't even say how many assailants there were, but now you're "sorry". Well, forgive me, but that doesn't quite hit the mark, I'm afraid. There are investments made to these lives. Innocent bystanders have incurred genuine, real losses. How do you propose compensating the innocent parties for the losses they sustained? Or should they just absorb the losses caused by you, fueled by your blind rage? |

Riina, your words about senseless violence hit close to home. My family knows the pain of losing a loved one to gunfire. My father was an innocent man, gunned down without cause. Now, my family line seeks justice and accountability. |

For those that got gundow, rip all. Rufus really hopes all can put those sad thoughts some has, promise that all gets killed sometimes, no one lives forever. So best is to try out another life in here. I's not any use to be sad or angry, take three deep breaths and it will be fine. |

My father was a very hardworking honest man, social and fun loving, gunned down simply as a suspect by those in charge, a blatant disregard to anyone trying to make a life for themselves |

By golly RufusWatchdog got it right when he said nobody lives forever. With that said I think he is worthy of being recycled every 30 days. |
