They aren't asking for donations expressly, the main point of the whole project/whatever you want to call it, was to raise awareness. So I doubt you can call it a scam.

To call it a scam is not right at all.

This is the ONLY way to stop that bastard.

Um, do you not see something inherently wrong with lobbying to send the US army to advise the Ugandan armt on warring an Army of children?  Incidentally the Ugandan army also has huge human rights issues.

The cause is fine, Kony needs to go, but Invisible Children, in my opinion, is not the best choice of charity to do it.

As I said in a previous post, all this campaign has highlighted is the massive power of social media to mobilise a massive amount of people to support a cause when they are not aware of 100% of the story.

The Kony2012 'Invisible Children' campaign is but another front for a foreign venture into a military campaign that DOES NOT serve the interest of the Ugandan citizens.

Kony is a tyrant, so is Osama, so is Cameron, so is Netanyahu, so is Assad and so is Ahmadinejad.. but Kony is being isolated and scapegoated for the purpose of intervention - and intervention serves the interests of Corporations. This is all about cold, blood drenched money.

the whole situation is very sad indeed but what makes this guy so special?....he isant the only dictator doing this in africa it has been going on for years! rebels and dictators fighting for power in virtually every african country killing women and children. forcing children to work in diamond mines.

Well, the whole situation is shit. I feel bad for anybody who has to live in a country where this happens and especially bad for the people this stuff happens to. 

But I don't care if it is a scam or not. 

My stance on anything happening in foreign countries is exactly that. Something happening in a foreign country and not our own. The people in the US should worry about it's own country first and foremost. Worry about the hungry, the homeless and the kids without families. Start a foundation for those people and finish helping them before you start focusing on other countries. For a country that helps people so much, we concentrate on our own so very little.

Obviously it isn't a scam.  They've even came out and said they don't want or need money, the whole point of the video was to get Joseph Kony as famous as George Clooney or something like that.  

But in saying that, there's a sad case of people supporting it in a fad-like fashion.   

I agree that Kony needs to have his throat slit with a rusted spoon, but Invisible Children is fucked. The dude makes 500k a year and only 3mill of their last years rev which was almost 9 mill went to Africa? Kony 2012 is a crock of shit. They cause is acceptable but the way they're going about it is fucked, IMHO.

I'm split on this one. They have the right idea, and they are doing a fantastic job of bringing this whole thing to light and getting the younger generation involved.

I do think though that their idea that military action against Kony is far far off base. That would cause more harm than good at the end of the day.

Nevermind; I see DeadlySin included the details to that event in his post a couple of days ago. Typical Scottish newspapers have only reported it today!
