Jazz was all the rage right now, cozy little joints popping up all around the cities to accommodate everyone's desire to be a part of it. Some had dance floors, where couples would spend the night doing the Charleston. Meanwhile, others were filled with tables and a stage for people to watch the bands perform. Mistletoe had been busy taking care of the family's new puppy, trying to ensure it wasn't peeing everywhere or biting the trim off the walls. The little guy made it hard to get work done, but she was still seeing to it. She desperately needed a night off, or rather a night out! She had heard from a couple of other family members that there was a rocking new spot right around the corner from their family's building. The puppy was currently being tended to by Fluffy_Tummy, really the cat and the pup were off sleeping in a corner. Yet, she decided this was her chance to check the place out. She mentioned to a few as she left that she could be found at the new "it" spot in case she was needed. Redwood could wake up and start causing a ruckus, but she was hopeful he would sleep for a couple of hours. There was also little family business to tend to, so off she went! She had brought a red dress she recently bought with her that day and changed into it before leaving. She wore a shawl over her shoulders and replaced her regular heels, with bright red ones. If she had a chance to look at herself in the mirror she might have kissed herself she looked so good. Walking around the corner and down the block it wasn't hard to miss which place was the one. She didn't even think about there being a line to get in. Yet, she recognized the gentleman standing outside the entrance. He had done some work for the family a few times and smiled at her as she neared him. "Come to check out the joint?" He asked as she walked up. The line was not very short and she knew it would eat up all the time she had. "I was, but it looks like I won't be after all." He looked at the line and back at her. He shook his head and motioned her inside. "I think the boss would be mad if I didn't let a lady like you inside." Mistletoe smiled and thanked him, then made her way in. She saw plenty of tables around, a bar, and a massive dance floor with the band just off to the left. They went all out on the place and it looked elegant. The music was in full swing and she watched as couples kicked their way around the dance floor. She had to take a step back and admire how talented they all were to keep moving so fast and with such energy. She could only dream of keeping up with such a fun dance and the music made everything much livelier. "A seat, miss?" One of the hosts had come over to assist her. "How many?" "Oh, just me, I think." Mistletoe had mentioned to a few before she left she'd be here, but she had no expectations of anyone joining her. He nodded and led her to an open table. "In case company joins you," He said and smiled. He knew all too well that how she looked tonight, she would eventually have company. Mistletoe was more worried about if she was asked to dance, she never had time to take part in the social scene. She had no idea how to properly dance to the Charleston. She was starting to wonder if she made the right decision in coming out tonight. Yet, she was going to enjoy the night either way. If she made a fool of herself then that would just be part of the fun. |
