Better Out Than In Started by: Dynamite on May 05, '25 13:07

Dynamite awoke suddenly, eye open but not able to see anything. He then switched his focus to what he felt. He felt around and could feel wood all around him and goosebumps on his skin from the lack of warmth. He yelled out and was quickly greeted by his own yell in the acoustically enclosed space. After piecing together the inevitability that he was in a casket, he quickly realized he was likely buried alive.

Panic began to set in, but he knew this was not the time to cower, but rather fight. He began to push upward to no avail.

"Shit," he thought to himself, "I don't know how long it's been, but I'm either stuck in a casket on a table, or underground."

He forcefully through his body weight toward the left and right, with no budge, so he must have been underground.

"Fuck, guess the only way out is up," he said to himself, squeezing his fingers into a fist.

Dynamite began to punch the top of the casket, causing pain with each hit as the wood began to splinter. After a round of punches, he could feel dirt. He grabbed the splintered wood, pulled it apart and had mud above him. He began to claw away at the exposed dirt, little by little, not knowing when he'd reach the top.

Jesus, it felt like an eternity of not knowing when he'd reach daylight. Dynamite's fingers began to blister and nails started to bleed. He had a bunch of dirty in his face, mouth, nose and he thought he'd be stuck down here until somehow he died. Dynamite began to think that he would starve, or scavenging worms would begin to eat away at his skin knowing he'd die soon, like actually die.

Dynamite stopped and pessimism set in.

"Am I ever going to make it out of here?" he thought to himself.

Maybe this was going to actually be his last breath, but this time he had nothing to distract him but his own thoughts, and that was worse.

Then he remembered his son, @Shane_Stetson and his wife back home. He was so busy with the mafia life that he wasn't there as often but he had to make a living for them so they could enjoy a safer life back in Texas.

He could hear @BillyMastrosimone's voice in his head as well. "Dynamite, you've gotta get out of there man. This isn't your time to go yet."

"You're right, it fucking isn't," he said to himself.

Dynamite began to violently punch the dirt above him, feeling the dirt give a little more way, but an exasperation of pain and blood. Finally, he felt his punch break through the dirt, feeling warmth. The discovery felt familiar, sun light maybe? He pulled his hand back in and punch again, greeted by the bright and blinding sunlight. He stood up and cleared a way for him to climb out.

As Lucy was making her way to the supermarket, she suddenly froze at the sight of a man who was literally digging himself out of a hole.

Her heart rate suddenly jumped as her soul almost left her body. She froze, as she tried to get some words out of her mouth. She recognized who he was.

"D-D-D-Dynamite??"

No, she did not believe in the supernatural. But again, how was this possible? And right in front of her very eyes?

She didn't go any closer. She couldn't go anywhere. It was as if she was stuck there. So instead she just stood still, watching this unbelievable sight.

Dynamite, covered in dirt, but still in his good suit finally pulled himself out and still blinded by the sun. He could hear a very familiar voice calling his name, but couldn't quite see yet who it was.

He slowly opened his eyes and and started to slowly adjust to the bright sunlight. To his pleasure, he saw Lucy. He was very happy to see her but was also very cognizant of his appearance and shock of someone rising out of a grave. He did a quick brush off of his suit.

"Lucy," he said to her, waving from the distance, "It is great to see you! I think that potion that @Alysia gave me is still running through my veins. It tasted like shit, but I owe my life to it twice already."

As Lucy saw him approaching, she pulled out a combat knife, not even hearing what Dynamite just said.

"S-s-stay away!" she said in a trembling voice as she almost stumbled trying to take a step back.

"You can't be Dynamite... He's dead! I was there at his funeral! I mourned him!"

With her hand still visibly shaking, she did her best to hold the knife up and point it at Dynamite. She had seen a lot since she started this life, but she was not ready for this moment.

Fredo's eyes were bugged out staring at Dynamite, who was literally rising from the dead. What the actual...? Memories started flooding his head - him and Dynamite schmoozing with the union guys at the Paramount Hotel, making deals, greasing palms. But these weren't his memories, or at least, he didn't think they were. Fredo rubbed his temples, feeling like he was losing his grip. "Dynamite, what the hell's going on?

"Lucy! I promise it's me!" he said to her. "Remember that time we celebrated Saint Patrick's Day at the Paramount? Boy that was a fun time, I still remember how bad the hangover felt the morning after. I promise I'm not a brain-eating zombie! Besides, if I was, you'd be better off with a double-barreled shotgun," Dynamite said, chuckling.

As he was speaking, his eye caught Fredo_Trapani approaching. Dynamite thought he looked like one of his past associates as there was a strong resemblance to one his LA connections.

"Hey man!" Dynamite said to Fredo, "I've been enjoying a peaceful rest six feet under," he said jokingly.

Still in disbelief, Lucy started to slowly lower the knife and putting it back in her pocket, making sure not to let it go. She gave herself a moment to process the situation and finally looked back at Dynamite.

"I see.."

Feeling a little safer with Fredo as an extra pair of eyes, she starts to calm down.

"H-How long have you been in there?" she asked.

Dynamite looked back to Lucy with confusion.

"To be honest, I really don't know how long I was down there. I woke up and realized that I was in a very enclosed space and put two and two together. I don't know how much more this potion can do for me, and I don't think I have @Alysia around anymore to ask," he said, concluding with his voice breaking at the end.

"Speaking of which, I'd better get going so I can find out where things are nowadays," he said. "I know Billy and the crew are gone, so I'll have to see what lies ahead for me today."
