I'm having a problem...my computer is periodically beeping, always in three beeps at a time. It does not come from the tower but from the speakers however nothing is running...do you have an idea what's going on? I'm using Windows 7 btw.

try a reboot ?

I've tried, but it doesn't work. It always beeps whenever I run Internet Explorer but I've removed it and it kept beeping.

That tends to be a hardware error, could be something like the fan not spinning up to full speed when the CPU is under load causing it to overheat.

Check your processes and run anti virus to make sure it isn't a program or virus messing with yo stuff (i've had viruses make unknown popup noises before). After that check your speakers to make sure it isn't something like a bad connection or batteries dying (if they use batteries) then check hardware. Always look for the easiest (and cheapest) fixes first.

I started ending processes and it stopped beeping after I ended a process called taskhost.exe (or something like that). Now, I don't really know what it is so is it safe to remove it?

Their is a windows program by that name that is often attacked by malware. Run anti virus (I use avast, it is pretty effective with prevention and catching these lil bastads when they sneak in. Plus it's free with email registration.) If the virus is really stubborn and your issue keeps happening, consult a bigger geek than me. :P

Scanned it with avira, found like 10 viruses. The damn beeping is gone, thankfully.

You see now why it's bad for your computer to look at porn? :P

Just shut down your comp. Take RAM out... give the RAM holder slot a good blow and put ram back. Beep is usually RAM or Harddrive failure, but I sense it sounds more like RAM here. 

As I already said, the problem's been solved.
