Each day felt hotter and hotter, Dynamite dripping in sweat as he walked from his vehicle to the Paramount Hotel in Los Angeles. It was approaching June and he could see female hotel guests scantily dressed in light clothing as well as men wearing khaki shorts and thin guayabera shirts. Guayabera shirts became popular last year after a wealthy American merchant brought entire shipments from South America to help people stay cool during the hot weather. Dynamite would eventually need to consider getting one as well since his suit wasn’t ideal for this heat.

It had been a great deal of time since he had hosted the Thanksgiving dinner and St. Patrick’s Day celebration for the prominent heads and members of the national mafioso population. Dynamite thought he could open up the large swimming pool at the Paramount as well as offer poolside service and a complimentary place to stay for those who attend.

He called to Jesse as soon as he walked into the hotel.

“Jesse,” Dynamite said, “Get a broadcast out to all the crime families and let them know that we are going to host a summer shindig. Complimentary drinks, pool usage and rooms for those who need it.”

Jesse nodded and went on his task. Dynamite assembled his Front Desk Manager, Chief Engineer, Chef and Bartender.

“We are going to host a bunch of my associates for a pool party,” he said to the four heads. “I want to make sure the pool area is pristine, guests taken care of with a room if they need it, and food and drink keeping them full. Let’s knock their socks off!”

Jesse returned an hour later and said he got the message out to the mafioso broadcaster.

Preparations were made and the day finally came. Dynamite assigned all his bell staff to the front door to greet the attendees and guide them upon entry. They could either choose to check-in first if they needed a room at no cost, or, if they travelled lightly, they could head straight to the pool area to begin lounging and enjoying the many hors d’oeuvres. Attendees could enjoy a scrumptious platter of small sliders with bacon, chicken pot stickers and assorted fruits and cheeses.
