Los Angeles, Paramount Hotel – Private Meeting Room Soft lights, thick curtains muffling the noise of the Hollywood streets. Three men sit at a round table: @Fredo, Babs, and Dynamite — the owner of the Paramount and a man with a vision. Fredo slowly swirls his bourbon, eyes fixed on Dynamite. – What you’ve built here is a classic. But we need something tailored for Detroit — smaller, with soul. A motel-hotel with a restaurant, meeting rooms, and the kind of privacy only we understand. Babs adds, calmly and confidently: – We’ve got an old property on the East Side. Used to be a hotel — walls still strong, the foundation’s good. We’ll take care of everything — permits, labor, protection. You bring your style. And the name. Dynamite nods. – If Clampazzo gives the green light, I’m in. “Paramount Detroit” sounds like something that lasts. Fredo leans back and smiles. – He’ll know soon enough. And once he does, we open the door to a new house. ⸻ Two Months Later – PARAMOUNT DETROIT, GRAND OPENING NIGHT 📍 Location: Eastern Market District, Detroit The Paramount Detroit motel-hotel is located on the corner of Russell Street and Winder Street, nestled in a restored 1920s brick building that once served as a working-class hotel. The area is steeped in history — old red-brick warehouses, rail lines nearby, and narrow alleys that have seen decades of deals, both clean and dirty. In recent years, Eastern Market has seen a quiet revival — galleries, jazz bars, boutique restaurants — but it still carries that raw Detroit edge. The streets of Detroit are dark, but one building glows like it’s from another world. Paramount Detroit — a repurposed hotel from the last century, now breathing again. A golden neon sign lights the name. Red carpet leads up the stairs. Classic cars and limousines roll up one by one. A live jazz orchestra plays 1940s standards in the background. Men in tailored suits, women in elegant evening dresses. A few familiar faces from the screen — a couple of Hollywood actors, a local jazz singer, even a well-known boxer — giving the night a touch of glamor. At the entrance, Babs stands with Limits — his wife and right hand — and next to them, Fredo, calm and composed, watching everything like a seasoned general. They look sharp: Babs in a crisp Italian-cut suit, Limits in a dark evening dress and long fox-fur coat, Fredo in a charcoal three-piece with a subtle gold tie pin. Together, they form a presence that radiates control, respect, and unspoken authority Nearby, Cedric and Vito Brancato move through the crowd — escorting guests inside, checking exits, giving subtle nods to their men. Everything flows smoothly. Clampazzo arrives first, with Vito1925. The orchestra slows down, honoring their presence. Then comes @Joe Ligambi, followed by Jimmy and big_jason. No smiles — just subtle nods that carry weight. From the Trapani line, ZelioMontego, Jack_Provenzano,and Carlo_Gambino arrive next. All are welcomed personally by Babs and Fredo, who stands inside near the restaurant bar, orchestrating the night from the shadows. ⸻ THE SPEECH – BABS WELCOMES THE GUESTS Babs steps up to the small podium by the fireplace. The room quiets, and the soft light of chandeliers reflects off crystal glasses. He pauses, then speaks with calm authority. – Good evening, friends. And more than that — to everyone who believed in what we’re building. – Tonight isn’t just about opening a hotel. It’s about adding something lasting to this city. In a time when most chase the temporary — we build for the long run. – Paramount Detroit is more than bricks and rooms. It’s a place for trust. For loyalty. For moments that matter. – I want to thank Dynamite — for lending us not just a name, but a legacy. And Fredo, who guided this project like a steady captain at sea. Without them, none of this would be possible. (He looks briefly toward Clampazzo, a subtle nod only a few would truly catch.) – To all of you who showed up tonight — your presence means more than words. This is just the beginning. – Welcome to Paramount Detroit. A place where everyone has a place — if they know how to respect it. – Cheers. (Applause. Glasses rise. Jazz swells. A night begins that many will remember — some for the food, some for the faces, and a few… for the foundation quietly being laid beneath it all. ⸻ LIGAMBI FAMILY PRIVATE SUITE – LATER THAT NIGHT Top floor. A suite overlooking the city. Leather couches, crystal glasses, and an old radio playing softly in the background. Clampazzo, Joe Ligambi, Fredo, Dynamite, and Babs — just them. Clampazzo stands by the window, silent for a moment, watching the city lights. Then he turns. – What you’ve built here… it’s got backbone. It’s not just walls and rooms. There’s weight in it. Something that says family. Joe Ligambi lights a cigar, leans back: – My guys — Jimmy, Jason — they say it feels like home. That’s all I need to hear. Clampazzo shifts his gaze to Babs, then slowly to Fredo, holding it for a moment: – You chose well, Fredo. You still got that instinct. Fredo, calm and measured, responds: – I don’t place bets. I back men I know can carry the weight. Clampazzo nods, then to Babs: – You spoke right tonight. Thoughtful. Grounded. You got something in you — I see it. And I trust it. (He pauses, his voice firming) – Paramount Detroit has my blessing. You’re the spine now. Keep it tight. No cracks. Babs, steady and clear: – Order will be kept. Brick by brick, no room for weakness. Clampazzo lifts his glass: – To Detroit. To our way. (Glasses clink. The room falls quiet. Outside — the city sleeps. Inside — the legacy holds its breath and stands firm.) |

Carlo Gambino stood near the back, framed by the soft glow of chandelier lights and drifting jazz melodies. His green eyes quietly studied the room—noting faces, alliances, the subtle exchanges. The weight of the moment wasn’t lost on him. After the speeches and toasts, Carlo moved forward with confident, unhurried strides, nodding respectfully to Fredo as he passed. He approached Babs, extending a firm handshake and a sincere smile that carried warmth, loyalty, and quiet respect. “Babs, ya built somethin' remarkable here. Place has got heart—real class. A man knows when he's standin’ somewhere solid, and this," Carlo gestured around subtly, "feels like a foundation you can count on.” His voice dropped slightly, more personal, with the kind of assurance shared among trusted peers. "You ever need an extra pair o' eyes watchin' the walls, or a hand keepin' things smooth, I’m here—no questions asked.” He raised his glass, offering a respectful nod toward Clampazzo and Fredo, the quiet strength of loyalty clear in his steady gaze. “Paramount Detroit… It's good to be part o' somethin' that’ll last.” With that, Carlo stepped back slightly, allowing space but staying near enough to remain involved, always watching, always ready—true to his word, and his family. |

Dynamite stood in the front of the Paramount Detroit, admiring the beauty of the building. He was quite ecstatic to see the Paramount's reach across the United States and to be working with old associates that he had worked with since his own time in the Ligambi family. It was great to see the buzz among the Detroit streets about the new Paramount. The local Ligambi families were very well-respected as Dynamite witnessed among the people walking downtown streets. Dynamite frequented the Lucky Ligambi's Back Room Gambling Den and he was always taken care of, so the proposal of expanding the Paramount in Detroit was perfect. |

Once Dynamite finished admiring the Paramount Detroit's beauty, he went to the front desk. The clerk looked up immediately.
"Yes, is Babs available?" Dynamite asked. |

[Lobby of the Paramount Detroit Hotel – Early Afternoon] The front desk clerk raises his eyebrows as soon as he hears the name. “One moment, please.” A few minutes later, Babs emerges from the inner part of the hotel, wearing a dark blazer, a faint smirk on his face, and a cigarette lazily burning at the corner of his lips. “Well, look who finally made it… Dynamite himself. Welcome to our little sin city.” They shake hands firmly — like men who share more history than they’d admit in one sitting. Dynamite “Had to see what all the buzz was about. Small, but with soul. This hotel has… the right kind of energy.” Babs: “Everything worth something looks modest from the outside. You know the game — steel doors, silk pockets.” Dynamite (more serious): “The reason I’m here — I want to know how you pulled this off. You know in L.A., we’ve got more money than brains. But cleaning that money, getting it out polished… that’s an art form. Can you show me how you made it work here?” Babs (gesturing toward the elevator): “Come on, we’ll head up to Room 802. No one listens in there. I’ll show you everything — the paperwork, the people, the method.” In the elevator, there’s a brief silence. Babs gives him a sideways glance. Babs: “In Los Angeles, you’ve got two advantages — volume and chaos. Use both. You need three layers: a restaurant or spa as the front, the rooms as digital transactions, and events or parties for cash flow. Everything goes through three hands before it hits the bank. Here in Detroit, it runs through people. In L.A., it needs to run through the system.” Dynamite (thinking): “I’ve got a club in West Hollywood. The idea is to tie it to the hotel — like a franchise, but with our operation behind it.” Babs (smirks): “You mix those two — you’ve got a cathedral for laundering. Just need a man on paper and a woman who can close the books without leaving a trace.” The elevator opens. They walk into the room. Babs pulls out a file with a seal and a network chart. Babs: “This isn’t just business, brother. This is architecture.” [Room 802 – Paramount Detroit] On the wide coffee table, Babs spreads out a diagram — three names, five companies, two banks. Babs: “Look here. Capstone Cleaners — a dry-cleaning company. They pick up the cash on the edge. Then it moves into Blackline Events, all under the guise of catering and entertainment. And from there… it flows into a legit hotel maintenance firm. That’s where the money’s cleaned — through salaries, supplies, room upgrades. Sparkling clean.” Dynamite (nodding slightly): “This is a goddamn symphony, Babs.” Babs (smirking): “You want an orchestra in L.A.? You’ll have it. Just keep the rhythm tight. The first beat hits loud — incoming cash. But the second one needs to be silent.” *Dynamite slides over a folder from L.A. and places it beside Babs’s. Inside: Golden Flare Lounge, Orion Spa, and Dry West Inc. Dynamite: “I’ve got the people. I’ve got the locations. What I don’t have… is you. You know how to connect the dots. How to build a system that breathes.” Babs: “Then listen: – Orion Spa will be your front. But install a control panel in the POS system. There’s a girl from Los Feliz — name’s Layla, she works for us. – Golden Flare Lounge — weekend-only events. Pay in cash, invoices go offshore. – And Dry West Inc — use it for service contracts with other hotels. That’s where all invoiced money flows.” Dynamite: “And who guarantees no one starts singing?” Babs (serious, voice low): “I do. And you know this — when I say it, there’s no third option.” A pause. Silence. Dynamite: “Alright. Then give me the green light. I’ll start with the spa. I want you to connect me with this Layla.” Babs (hands him a slip of paper with a number): “Layla doesn’t talk much. But when she opens the door — every dollar walks in like it was born in a bank.” |
