Transitioning away from the current district system. Started by: Squishy on Jun 21, '25 09:03

We will be reducing the districts to 2 per city. Crews should decide which one is to be closed and signal their intent by emptying that district of all HQs before the June 28 deadline. If you are unable to sort out the moves before the June 28th deadline, we will be close any districts over 2 based on the criteria of users Loyalty settings, and then using crew size as a tie breaker if needed.

*If there are currently more than 2 godfathers, I can (with everyone in that cities approval), stuff 2 GFs into one district in the same existing city, with additional code that prevents any of the uppers from shooting any of the other uppers of the joint city for the life of that character. I can also do a cosmetic demote and move them into another district of the same city (no loss of date/xp), without the need for the no-shooty-other-uppers code.
Report Post Tips: 35 / Total: $700,000 Tip

Would you consider keeping the 3rd districts where applicable open for drug trafficking? Like make it so that HQs cant be purchased there, but the location still exists?

Report Post Tips: 4 / Total: $80,000 Tip

Ehhh I'm not sure I'll be able to do that.  There are already plans for users to take over the drug trade via areas that they will acquire, build up, and then manage outside of the traditional crew structure. I am leaving in a 2 district drug setup (Since every city currently has at least 2 districts) for the purpose of being able to run testing at the same time as still supporting the old system. No promises but if there is a way to do it without derailing progress with a ton of extra code, then I'll try.

Report Post Tips: 4 / Total: $160,000 Tip
I see that you are leaving 2 open currently to still be able to run testing, will the districts be closed at some point completely?
I feel this is a needed change for sure, I definitely understand and supported the orginal purpose, but with the current user count I think triming down, and I do hope we go back to one district(the city) one Godfather I think that will spark up the current user base to strive to have the wheels spin more and engagement as the current status getting godfather and your own slice is basically just to easy at the moment and to many "chiefs, not enough Indians.".
Report Post Tips: 3 / Total: $60,000 Tip

is no real surprise this has been coming for a long time, like izzy speaking on the lack of investing in advertisement for the game if the environment is unwelcoming and hostile.   Is just a case of action and reaction.  I however thing there can never be 2 Godfathers in a district, either age served as current units or age as godfather being a better qualfier with the other dropping to don even if with the present units.  Place continues as it is, a few years will be back to cities not districts with 1 district in affect

Report Post Tip

Since moving district will make the crew loose its dfp's.

Would it be possible for you to move the crew and let them keep the dfp's ?

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

Step in the right direction. The playerbase is small, makes sense.

Report Post Tips: 2 / Total: $40,000 Tip

I am not sure moving dfp's should be considered. The way I am reading this game change is a reaction to the current regime driving the userbase into the ground numbers wise. I may be totally incorrect but that's my feelings on the matter at hand.

Report Post Tips: 2 / Total: $40,000 Tip
I respect your thoughts on the matter, but I’d like to keep my DFP (if I moved my HQ) having bought it at a time when there was no rumour or suggestion of districts closing. This despite any attitude towards the current ‘regime’, in isolation DFP’s should be retained, they aren’t cheap.
Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

I don't think DFPs should carry over. Unless there are spots available in that district. I see this more as a consequence to the actions of the regime, and I would say this regardless of what group holds power.

Just as I am not a fan that there could be 2 GFs in a district that may not be able to shoot each other?  I have never been in a fan of multiple GFs in one city, as it does not make a lot of sense to me.

If you participate in driving the user base away, there should be some consequence in that.

Report Post Tips: 2 / Total: $40,000 Tip

Wait, I missed a line.

with additional code that prevents any of the uppers from shooting any of the other uppers of the joint city for the life of that character.

Why this?

Report Post Tip
DFP’s are open for all, I’m not sure owning one contributes to ‘driving the user base away’. If I’m being forced to move district as a CL / non-CL / gangster / *Insert rank here* I don’t agree I should be penalised for a forced-changed by losing a feature I’ve worked for to make cash; wether that district closure descision is the result of a regime driving people away (subjective) or not.
Report Post Tips: 2 / Total: $40,000 Tip

I respect your thoughts on the matter and understand why yourself & anyone in a HQ which is going to have to move would want to keep their DFP, but the fact you have put 'driving the userbase away' in quotes makes me think you are not really concerned for the plight of the game and just holding onto your resources. Which is fine if a little short sighted (subjective)

Ultimately its an admin decision but to try and explain this in terms we both might understand each other on:

"If I’m being forced to move district as a CL / non-CL / gangster / *Insert rank here* I don’t agree I should be penalised for a forced-changed by losing a feature I’ve worked for" is very similar to If I'm being forced to keep being shot in the face as a *Insert rank here* I don't agree I should be penalised for a couple of mental midgets who are in charge declaring I am am undesirable on characters I have put work into.

Report Post Tip

Well you've jumped to a really big conclusion there so let me put it right, as you're a bit wide of the mark in your assumptions.

'Driving the userbase away' was put in quotes because it was a quote, and was someone else's opinion, not mine. Admins can see numbers are down hence the reason for the change (I assume), they don't however quote the reason as people building characters to end up being shot in the face and becoming disillusioned. Am I concerned about the plight of the game? Yes I absolutely am, numbers are down, there are too many crews, rogue's are just non-existent because of the HQ cooldown change which I don't agree with...I've never hidden the fact that it's quiet and not much happens anymore to anyone in my crew - ask them. Other people feel the same too. Terms we might understand each other on - my point and yours are not similar in the context of what we are discussing here, which is losing DFP's.

Whatever the reasons are for the change and the district reductions, and we both have a very good idea - and FWIW I think our thoughts aren't exactly identical in their structure but are not too dissimilar - it's unfair to legitimately work for something in good faith, to have forced-change, to have to work for it again because you've missed by moving districts. Plenty of people in my crew have DFP's, it's not fair on them either. Unless admin come and and say 'it's because a few people in charge don't like some people ranking' then that just isn't the point. You're taking a small complaint I've made and making it fit the wider murmur of unrest we read about in the streets to suit that argument. And again, that's a feeling I think we all feel to some extent, as I've already said. But I want my fucking DFP goddamn it!

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

10/10 response to be fair.

I was reading the 'Driving the userbase away' quote in a single quote mark, girly high mocking voice to negate the point and would have considered a "Driving the userbase away" as a legitimate quoting what was said. Tone is very difficult to pick up over text and this apprears to be a mistake on my part.

I applaud & admire your concern for the plight of the game and have one challenge for you...Are you going to do anything about it? Do you not feel complicit in managing the decline of this place? Not one I am expecting a written response on of course, as if you are planning anything violent / world rocking then announcing it publicly would be pretty life shortening.

Its easy for me to sit here and arm chair quarter back and I make apologies for doing it, but at present it feels like based on your publicly available character activity you are more motivated to make effort to keep a dfp than to do something positive for the userbase. Perhaps you are an amazing crew leader and behind closed doors you are making your family happily but if you are managing to do that, and not just phoning in an effort to lead / a place holder CL then you can do more. This place is screaming out for a leader to say out loud "I am here, I am active, you are not purging my people"

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

It's really disheartening it has come to this. Do what you got to do preserve the integrity this world was built on. Much respect to you.

Report Post Tip

I am not entirely sure why youre so absolutely distraught and disheartened by this. It's a good thing. We dont loose anything, and everywhere is neat and tidy. Tow districts is ample. We can still auth as many was We want per district.

It does however stop diluting the GF rank. Wich for me, is a fantastic move for the game.  Logistically its good. Also, with less room for gfs id suspect it gives the game a touch of urgency that its missing,  for those that don't have the gf rank, but want it and want to take over it etc etc.

Im not sure how dropping a district per city, looses any integrity... That one is absolutely lost on me.

Report Post Tips: 2 / Total: $40,000 Tip

Would it be possible to calculate the average price of drugs in the city based on the two districts that will remain, instead of all three?

Report Post Tip
Said this would start two years ago. It took a bit longer than I expected. Confused why you won't just push the community to have wars. There could be wars every other month massive ones, weeks that you could earn more than some months with the current state. Your pop is much more lively and people are more willing to spend during and after a war. Keeps people around and keeps people interested. Instead the pace has been slowed over the years.
Report Post Tip

I am not surprised Spacey was lost on my kins thoughts. For starters my kin stated do what you got to do to restore the integrity. Nothing was said about losing districts destroys integrity. But Spacey just loves to follow me around and every damn time he talks gibberish.

This change prompted exactly as me and another predicted. Let's start with Spacey who purged 2 of his own a couple days after this change. Paranoia at its finest with Spacey. Both were 100% baffled and turned off with his lunacy. We did lose one of them. I wish he was around to visit the scouse's own demise. Thank God for 1%'s.

The discussion took a few turns. We discussed how this change places NY in a bit of a conundrum. And part of it was they would come after Cadhla. And Spacey is coming up on taking GF and he would probably move into Philly and take GF. Our discussion did not take place as discussed or did it? I mean there was a curve ball thrown into the mix. Or was this one of Spikes plots with the curve ball?

One thing is for certain some damn life came back into this place.
