The crisp snapping of dry tobacco drawn through a cigarette. As a last sound of outrage and rebellion before an inevitable draw, pulled up into my lungs and given new meaning by the one in control. Me. It goes out. I relight it. Take a sip my drink. What is the nature of hate? What drives this passion in me? Hate is being driven to act against your own interests. Aware or not. Hate is having to question your own perception of the world based on someone else's input. Hate is whatever motivates you. Hate is what makes your heart beat fast right before you sleep. Hate is a a rogue, in the dark recesses. Immerging to steal your peace. Hate cannot win. It's only a brief whisp. Like smoke in the wind. |
