It had been a long night. People had been coming in and out of the house and asking all kinds of questions. The more narcotic edge of the wine had taken him eventually and he'd managed to get some sleep. Even then he was woken to more bad news. Wandering down the street he went through the events of the previous night time and again in his mind.

That had got his attention and no mistake. When he got the news he'd gone straight to his guard and tried to get information and medical attention for him. Not wanting to kick up a fuss, Kurtz had taken account of the various mobsters active in town at that point and a general look at the people making moves round the country that night at that time. He took a few notes and resigned himself to having nothing more than confusion and suspicions. He went back to work and an hour later got another call.

It would appear the assailant wasn't happy with the harm they had already caused and returned to finish off the recovering guard while he lay in his bed. What the hell was going on? Confused, Kurtz put in a call to JackPepper who promptly started his own investigation, sent out people to Kurtz location and provided aid for his remaining guards. Kurtz went back to work. For a little while. Then the call came in.

Kurtz hung up the phone and checked the various sources Jack had placed. No one had seen anything. The normal information gathering took place. Who was active in town, what was happening nation wide etc. The list of possible culprits was growing smaller. The hits had come like clockwork, surely the work of one assailant and Kurtz was starting to get an idea of who it might be. More calls were made and a few high ranking members of the family were deployed to add to the help. Everyone waited. The main suspect vanished.

The hours came and went. Nothing. The main suspect didn't return. No shot was taken. After several hours Kurtz gave up, downed a few glasses of Merlot and got some sleep. That sleep was interrupted in the early hours.

Kurtz was tired. As morning finally came he climbed out of bed and into the shower. The flowing water brought some sense of togetherness back to his worn mind before he pulled on his suit and headed out into the heat of the LA morning. He'd made the calls and everyone was as aware of the situation as they could be but Kurtz couldn't understand the fundamental motive. He was just a Thug. He hadn't spoken to anyone other than old friends of his father's and from what he knew, his father had never caused problems for anyone. As far as the journals he had read went, he had been well liked by those he worked and ran with.

At a loss for an explanation, he walked into a local square. It was a good place to speak since Jack paid off the cops and boxed off the area to mob based businesses. Kurtz grabbed himself a coffee from Jordan's bakery and addressed the mafioso around him.

I had thought my introduction to these streets would have been under more positive circumstances but it seems my first conversation with you all will surround a most underhanded practice.

When I arrived on these shores a few of my father's old friends came to meet me and provided me with a few guards to help me along. Very generous people who loved my old man. No arguments there. However during last night several shots were taken at these guards. Three of them were killed! I have been at a total loss to explain why someone would do this.

I haven't said word one to anyone so its impossible that I could have acquired any ill will in the single day I have been here. Also, from what I understand, my father did nothing during his life but help everyone he came into contact with. He was cut down in his prime by a gun malfunction. As it stands I have no idea why an assailant would want to attack someone of my standing with so little protection. There are a plethora of more succulent targets. People of all ranks and standings dragging around hundreds of guards, so why me? Why anyone for that matter?

As you people are my peers and your opinions are ones my father taught me to value, I ask you this:

What makes a person attack and kill Bodyguards? Especially on such an insignificant target?

Taking a sip of his coffee, Kurtz pulled a tasty bear claw from the paper bag the old woman in the bakery gave him and took a seat in the morning sun. Chewing on his sugary treat he waited to hear what people had to say.

Kurtz It is a sad fact that while you yourself are a low rank it makes it easy for such people to target your BGs so while they are Stealthed it makes it damn near impossible to catch these fiends not impossible but hard. They dont care if you did or didnt do anything its that you are an easy target as there guns as a rule of thumb are weak.

I hope that your family can help you catch these Stealthy buggers though for everyone that gets get another takes up the mantle i guess it has been an on going game i guess you can call it of cat and mouse.

Kurtz, my old pal, we once came up with a good initiative to help aid the process of finding these sneaky bastards, it was a actually a good deterrent. If you check your mailbox, I'm sure you will find it helpful.

The practice of killing bodyguards is a very shallow one at that. Sadly, it is something that has been practiced in our community for a very long time. Your low rank only makes it easier for these assailants to kill off your bodyguards, they don't need any provocation. While I look down upon such cold blooded killers and would never stoop to their level, the killing of bodyguards IS a very quick and effective way to train your firearm, should you play it safe. Believe it or not the killing of BG's is not so common compared to a few months back, but it still is a major problem in our society.

Honestly, I don't think there's anything we, as a community could do to stop this senseless killing, I do however hope the gods find some way to put an end to this.

She looked out with a tired face, having heared of these unfortunate complaints so many times before and each time wanted to squash the person like a bug on concrete.

The sad part is people are going to take advantage of a skill in place from birth, there have been rumours for ways to build defences against such a skill however even this takes time and when the people are caught they do not worry about their death, just laugh at the compensation bill left on their bosses door.  Is tragic, selfish ad unfortunately an element of the world we live in.

     I share your feelings, KurtZ. My father too died, but instead a wack back by a Durden. To help insure that the chances of myself getting a fatal wack back is small,  my family provided me with a body Guard. The person/people who are doing this have little respect for those who are of younger base, and they see that since we are young our body guards are easy prey and the chance of us seeing them in the act is unlikely. The only reasons I may think of a person/ people doing somthing like this is so they can better thier weapon, or because they themselves are jealous that we have Body guards and they don't, so they atack them to help themselves feel better. If any of them can hear this, I would like to say that you WILL get caught, it is only a matter of time.

It is a shame that there those out there who target bodyguards. Sadly however I feel you answered your question yourself. As you say you are and insignificant target, barely even a gangster and already being attacked. There in lies your answer, see these people are small minded weak individuals. They think of themselves big and clever but really they are nothing.

The ability to stealth a few bodyguards off a gangster is not a hard one to come by and sadly among our world there are those who prey on the weak and don't follow the rules set forward by their family heads or godfathers. To me these people are pathetic, sniveling, honor-less mooks.

They may think they are going to get somewhere, but down the line they will get caught, they will get killed and even though it's not the done practice their grave might get a little work over as their actions in life lead to them never being deserving of respect, in life or death.
