Good or Bad childhood memory Started by: Benny on Jul 19, '25 08:47

Lets hear some of the special memories from your childhood.

A good one from me is the first time i got a bike with gears. I had wanted one for a long long time and i seen some kids in the school have em. I just loved to see the chain change gear and hear the metallic noise, my mother didnt have alot of money so we always got used bikes as cheap as possible. But then for my birthday we went to a store that had this 5 gear bike, metallic green and hand breaks. I was so hope and the next day i almost flew to school biking on that metallic green stallion.

I don't think I have any one specific significant positive memory from childhood, but I'd often find myself in early morning car rides around the countryside on school break, and now that feeling is one of the strongest sources of nostalgia for me

Well, I'm going to start with my father's name was truly Salvatore, you can think what you will about that. I remember our little barn and I'd grab the tools he needed out of his set by the time I was 4 or 5. When I was eleven, I remember he had purchased a new (to us) Chevy Silverado, he got home at midnight and asked if I wanted to go for a ride with him. After his passing in 2017, I had a boyfriend who wanted to get the old Chevy working again, but when he couldn't, I remembered crying as they towed it away. GRHS.

Should have had the boyfriend towed, instead of the car. Then find a boyfriend with better mechanic skills...

In the fourth grade, so, like 10-11 years, I had my face cut by a broken beer bottle. Good and bad memory at the same time :S

I broke my leg while raging to call of duty, i dont even remember how i broke it. I maybe kicked something so hard it fractured my bone or something.

A bad childhood memory is always having a bad feeling when going to school because i had rarely made my homework.

Then i would sit hoping it would not be found out, which it offcourse always did. Lay the foundation to a background kinda feeling of always being behind and owing someone somethign.

I had a fascination with snakes when I was around 4-5 years old, which was fine because where I lived it was very rare to find anything poisonous. I would catch garter snakes and the occasional bull snake and handle them with no fear, probably because I was a dumb kid who didn't know any better. Anyhow, the family takes a vacation to Florida and for some reason we were at a laundermat (doing laundry, I suppose). I went behind the building and saw a pretty red, yellow, and black ringed snake and ran after it trying to catch it. Years later I realized that the snake I was trying to catch was a coral snake - the most poisonous snake in North America. Glad I didn't catch it.

Report Post Tip

That was pretty luck that you didnt catch that snake. Sometimes kids get away with the most dangerous stuff because they are fearless out of not knowing the danger.

I have often struggled to remember anything from my youth. After many months reflecting I've come to the conclusion that is relating to my inability to remain present in the present, and worry about what is coming rather than what is. Still, I remember lazy days on and under the water.

Good childhood memory

Vacations were always enjoying, despite the dangers they bring with the fun

Being chased when I was in like 6th grade by some guys who were beefing with my brother who was in high school. Shit was wild. The saw me walking home, stopped their car, backed up fast. I cut through the alley, they turned down the next street over, raced down the street after me. I managed to cut through more streets to make it home.

When we were kids, my sibling and I used to build blanket forts whenever Mom and Dad weren’t home. We always kept a broom as a weapon, just in case a kidnapper showed up. It felt scary but fun—like we were little heroes in our own world.

We just came home from spending the weekend at my parents and we recollected the stories from summer holidays.

We've explored all over Europe, mostly by campervan. I've got loads of little memories about skipping stones in small streams, catching fish, letting ocean waves crash down on us and many more. I'll be forever grateful of that as those things gave me more value than any toy could've.
