Rogues vs. Burgerhousers. Started by: Indifference on Jul 19, '25 15:14

Indifference didn't really give a fuck for flowery words.   He couldn't make a decent newspaper or have the zesty humour of some in the world - but whatthefuckever. He didn't wear a trench coat often or a fedora often, but he would today for the purposes of popping his head out.

"Folks, I come here with a question for the masses that has been eating at me for the last few days.  We've lived through some dark times here recently.  Lots of people lost their lives perhaps needlessly.  Other people lost their lives because perhaps they deserved it. I don't think that any of us will pretend to act like they know everything that's going on here. Well, OK, maybe one person..."

Indifference puffy puffed and sippy sipped and adjusted his trench coat and fedora and continued...

"My line has been accused of being a rogue at times. Sometimes, it was probably justified - but I would say mostly wrongfully and out of an abundance of fear and paranoia.  However, some of the most ball and chain-freeing figures in our history here in this thing of ours have been rogues.  They can be frustrating, but they have also done a hero's work for many. The tag is most definitely is one of those things that sticks with you - that accusation of being a rogue.  I would even suggest that people use it wrongfully just to attach the negative connotation to your name. Or - they just use it because they actually have no idea what they are talking about or what is actually going on.

With that - Indifference looked at a few people out in the crowd small gathering wearing terrible costumes...

"I've never been accused of being a burgerhouser.  But!! Oh man, have I ever been burgerhoused!! I think a lot of us have parents here that were burgerhoused!!  It was unsurprising, but mildly infuriating. As I see it - this is a lower form of mafia strategy.  It requires no mafia skill.  It requires no social skill.  It just requires a metric fucktonne of selfishness and a lack of loyalty to your family. I'd even go so far as to question that burgerhousing is a form of roguing in its own right? It is possible the rogues and the burgerhousers are the same type of person, only on the other side of the fence while the people sitting on the fence in the line of fire just get mowed off by both sides.  I guess time will tell."

Indifference felt himself starting to ramble.  He was bored.  Everyone has ADHD.  It was time to wrap it up.

"So - with that - I guess my opinion is clear.  I am comparing when I should perhaps be contrasting. But!!! I am just really looking for something to talk about in these streets."

I ask our beloved community - what's more despicable?  The rogue?  - or the burgerhouse?

Can we have option C?

SimonTheSwanHunter is worse, for he is an evil and impoverished man with less than 5 bins, and a fetish for killing swans.

Didn't Jesus already once said to his followers "He who never rogued, throw the first stone."?

Frankly, I'm not smart enough to understand what burgerhousing is. Not familiar with the term, not sensitive to pick up on potential fun behind it either. So I can't actually say which one is more dispicable. I guess roguei-ing never shed it's negative sentiment, but it evolved perhaps to be more of specialized tool, rather than a molotov cocktail that tries to burn things down.

Conceptually, rogue-ing is not being authorized to do business, but you do so anyway, typically aware of it and you start firing your gun. In that sense, it's not behaviour thatis expected by the general population. Interestingly, the behaviour of authed leaders also often is not what's expected by many. I'm tempted to call it a blurry line between a rogue and a leader, but that's generalizing. Perhaps it's more yin-yang, opposites in balance. The dispicitability of a rogue, or a leader for that matter, is the opposite of what they stand up against.

Burgerhousing is far worse than roguing without a doubt too. Can any crew leader ever shoot their member, miss or god forbid, wackback, and then in a state of panic begin demoting their member and still be reasoned with? Leaders like Brent, Mokus and Allie deserve no sympathy or even love from anyone, even though all three are all big nobodies in this life of ours. I sometimes forgot Brent was even a Godfather Chairman, leading his city of four active people of which one rogued and the other two were strange erotic space vampires. Mokus killing Otis was classic after his speech of letting his members have free speech, only to kill Otis (GRHS) for said free speech when ole' Space Pole, Godfather, NY, complained about his feelings getting hurt. As for Allie? I sometimes forget she was even a Godfather, or a don? Was she a right hand man to an inactive godfather? I truly cannot and do not remember. Some people are just not memorable at all.

While I went off on a small rant on some of our less known and less popular members of our community, I would like to apologize. Not to them, but to anyone listening, I thank you.

My father had a near attempted burgerhouse, his crew leader Shifty had been murdered in cold blood by a protection shot and my father, GRHS, had joined SantoRubio who had sent him an invite immediately without a message, which wasn't surprising, since Santo did very little with anyone in New York if you weren't an upper or one of the three semi active people within his headquarters before his death. After my father had wacked Santo back, he left and the burgerhousing had almost began. Had Santo not been sent to prison for having a large forehead and buckteeth, similar to UglyInbredGeorge, my father would have likely been demoted, or worse, had their gun taken away.

And my father, GRHS, was only one of many.. Look on to Otis and Ranger. One was a strong man with morals who tried his best to protect his family under getting burgerhoused and the other was Ranger who killed some non capped idiots who thought they could sit without protection.

All in all? I'd rogue every day of the week. Imagine your name getting stained with Burgerhousing? You'd be known for that FOREVER

I was unaware of what happened to your father, beluga. That must have been terrifying for him. Having just dodged a bullet, then to be staring straight down the barrel of a burgerhousing is a traumatic experience. I know. My great, great grandfather was Otis, betrayed and burgerhoused by Mokus. In some small consolation to Otis, he managed to reclaim a weapon. He went back and tried to shoot Mokus right between the eyes, but the eyes were too close together. It was a doomed mission from the start.

There is no comparison here. To burgerhouse someone is the ultimate betrayal of family. Murder used to be honourable. To strip someone of rank and weapons before they are butchered is another way of saying "I never loved you. I never loved you from the beginning". It is a breach of the social contract between the crew leader and the crew member. It also shows the divisions of loyalty in this thing of ours. To date, every victim of burgerhousing has been loyal to their boss. The sentiment was never reciprocated. The bosses loyalty was not to their family, but to other family bosses. In this sense, the "boss collective" operated in a way we used to describe as an "underground group". That's a term that has not been used in recent years, but think about it. How did we used to describe an "underground group" back in the old days? Loosely, it was a group of mobsters who operated together outside of and independent of their real family ties. Doesn't that exactly describe our former leadership?

That's getting a bit off track, but the similarity is that both are the ultimate betrayal of family. The Rogue usually acts out of desperation and knows that they will probably not get out of it alive. They are willing to die for a cause. The burgerhouser is the opposite. They will die for nothing and no one. They stand for nothing but their own survival, at any costs. They are willing to destroy the very foundation of Cosa Nostra - family - in order to perpetuate a cycle of poor leadership. To gloat as they burgerhouse a pile of ashes.

After having just survived a shootout Fanta was quickly running back to his house. On the way he found another person making yet another speech and as usual Fanta couldn't help himself but listen. He heard Indifference say a lot of words but not all of it made sense to him, maybe cos Indifference was being unclear or maybe it was because of all the adrenaline gushing through his veins. Anyway, he figured out one thing. Indifference wanted to know if rogue was the right term for roguing.

After thinking long and hard Fanta comes to the decision that there can in fact be another term for it. "Traitor" but since it doesn't roll off the tongue so easily he was still partial to "Rogue"

As he was thinking and mumbling to himself Fanta heard Indifference say something about burger. Fanta was hungry and so a burger would be just the thing that Fanta needs right now. So he paid attention to how to get a good burger. But again  Fanta got was disappointment. There was no burger. Fanta was femished by now. So he mumbled a dozen swear words and walked away looking for a burger place.

Oblivion wandered into the streets, trying to rub an odd red stain from his white tank top, and struggling to do so, when he heard Indifference speaking of rogues and burgerhousing. He listed to various arguments, before finally deciding to speak.

I feel like the great TomJoad hit the proverbial nail on the head here. To burgerhouse is the ultimate act of betrayal. You're betraying yourself, and your family, and your values. When you become a leader, you're taking a vow, not dissimilar to a marriage pact. You are pledging your life, and the remainder of your criminal career, to the protection and support of the family you are starting. It doesn't matter if that member is a thug fresh off the boat, or a Consigliere that's been with you from day one. Each and every member of your family deserves your utmost respect, and trust. To burgerhouse in order to extend the lifecycle of a perpetual state of poor leadership is akin to taking a giant shit on everything you're supposed to stand for.

Oblivion takes a moment to gather himself and take a few breaths. He reaches in his pocket and pulls out a silver flask, taking a few sips to wet his now dry throat, before returning it to his pocket.

To rogue on the other hand. It really depends on the purpose. Is the person going rogue just for the hell of it, because they're bored? Then they're no better than the burgerhouser. Are they going rogue to make a purpose, to try to forge a better path forward? Then perhaps they're not so much a rogue after all, and more of a martyr. Sometimes a rogue is the only way out of a bad situation, which in some measure makes it justified, whereas there's never an excuse to be a burgerhouser. Never betray family, never betray your values.

Report Post Tip

Burgerhomes over burgerhouses. Brent nearly put the entire wedding of Tyler Durden and Robert Paulson into jeopardy with his act of brazen inter-crew violence. However, Mokus is remembered for nothing except burgerhousing Otis, so you could also say it was a bit of a legacy-shaper for someone who would've otherwise been completely forgotten. And what of SimonTheSwanHunter? How long until he snaps and starts b-housing his payday chasers?
