BG hitters are a fact of life in our society. But very little has actually been written about them or their motivations. The truth might actually suprise people.

There are three disctinct groups of BG hitters.

The Underground

Co-ordinated groups of hitters with a command structure and, usually, a PR wing. Various factions have operated like this, two of the most successful squads cost LV, NY and others tens of millions over a lengthy period of time. When organised like this, there is of course attrition, but fighting against Underground BGHs effectively is almost impossible - without levelling the cities where they seek sanctuary.

The Lone Wolf

This is someone of, usually, good standing across the 8 cities. Sometimes, but not always, he will have been part of an Underground Faction and honed his skills there. Basically, The Lone Wolf will shoot a BG every so often, most usually as the result of a personal gripe, but often to try and pin the crime on an enemy. What isn't readily understood is that BH Hitters study the methodology of catching BG Hitters are are au fait with all the tactics. These can be used to cause others to be seen as guilty - this has happened before and will again.  That said, BH Hitters very rarely work alone.

Hitter for Hire

If they are honest, most of the upper echelons have employed freelance assassins at some time or another.  To stir up trouble, settle a grudge or simply for amusement.  It costs millions to train an effective BG Hitter and these costs need to be recouped.

Becoming a Bodyguard Assassin

It is difficult in the extreme to become an effective BG Assassin.  Not many are capable of it.  It costs at least $6M to train to anywhere near combat readiness and even then, the skills need to be honed.  That's why they act in groups - one person having three BG's felled will be confused, statements and suspects will be muddled and those investigating will be more prone to mistakes.

The Future

The widespread killing of BGs anonymously has largely stopped.  There is no longer a "closed shop" feel to the seven cities and people can more freely express themselves in other ways.  There are, however, numerous bloodlines with the necessary skills, ready to take to the night and do it all again.

You forgot one.

The Randomer.

These Mafioso have no respect or honour and pick lower rankers with BGs to attack because they simply are not skilled enough to get Inactives.

How do you know all of this?

*Listening to what seemed like an expert speak on bg shooting Popcorn_Playa begins to shake his head*

"I'm still not ok with any of this. Nobody likes their money played with and when it comes down to it thats all bg shooting is about. Only instant where I can see bg shooting, especially low rank members, as an ok thing is if its an order from you family head which would be in prep for war or to keep a rival family from building strong. But as for these underground societies and lone wolves, it is a shame to see that they even exist. I'll never understand how someone can say they are loyal to someone but have a secret life on the side. In my opinion if you shot my bg you shot at me, and for that I'll ask for your life. Hell, I'd ask for your life purely on being a dishonorable person. That's just the way my father brought me up."

*Continued to shake his head in disappointment as he left to explore the rest of this world his father loved so much*

I wasn't discussing the rights and wrongs of BG hits, I was merely discussing the ins and outs.
