Catriona sits at a table in a corner of a crowded cafe, clutching her cup of coffee as though it was some sort of life preserver. She looks tired and worn; the strains of the past twenty four hours having taken their toll on her. They were twenty four hours which would undoubtedly change her life, maybe even end her life. She had been back home, a sleepy village called Foxford, in the west of Ireland when she had received news of her mothers death. Although the nature of her mothers work meant that it was safer for Catriona to live away from her, in Ireland, the girl had grown up with a fascination of the life of crime, and she knew, in the same second she knew of her mothers death, that she would continue the family bloodline through another generation. Many years ago, following the death of her Grandmother, Catriona had been given a letter by her mother, with strict instructions only to open it in the event of her mothers demise. The letter was a set of detailed instructions as to how to join this underground world. Catriona had done as instructed, taking the earliest possible flight to her mothers home city of Philadelphia. She looked up the people her mother had suggested, informing them of her intent to continue her mothers work. She even gained admittance to the family her mother had loved and died for, La Casa Rossa, for a brief period. The final things she had done, before taking up her seat in the corner of the cafe, were firstly, to attend her mothers funeral, and choke out a tearful farewell and promises to work hard to make her proud, and secondly, to take the tiny amount of possessions she had thrown into a suitcase to bring with her up to the small apartment her mother had rested her head in. In the apartment, as detailed in the letter, she had found not only her mothers old journals and diaries, but her grandmothers, and even her great-grandmothers too. After a good number of hours reading, learning some of the ways of this world and the like, she decided to visit the cafe to get herself a drink and rejuvenate herself for what would be a hectic time until she found herself a family in this thing of ours. Draining what was left of the cup, she read aloud the final lines of her mothers diary. "Today, things have changed from their usual happy pace. We have become engaged in a large war, and I am well aware I may not see the other side of it. I've learned an awful lot in this life, and I have so much gratitude and love for my old family, every single one, and especially my boss, Corbin. If we die tonight, we had a great run in a wonderful city, and to those who may end my life tonight - respect". Sighing softly, Catriona closes the diary and slips it into her handbag. She then leaves the cafe and walks out onto the street, and immediately, her eye is caught by a wealthy looking lady with a very inviting looking purse.. |

Catriona smiles at Civ's words I agree most strongly Civ, I really do. Corbin gave my mother chances and helped her to grow in many ways as a mobster. He ran a family that truly did feel like home to her. He really, really was awesome, and I too hope to be under the leadership of his kin once more; it would truly be an honor to be. |
