| Additional duel option | Started by: Dean-Winchester on Oct 08, '25 21:40 |

So I've had an idea I've been playing with for about a week, and I want to apologize if this comes out a little scatter brained been super busy and only have a few minutes to get this down. So we all know dueling is a near unused feature within MR, mainly because it comes down to a coin flip for who shoots first and we all nobody is accepting a fight they don't think they can win. So the feature largely is disregarded by most players. What I'm suggesting is an additional option to duels, where it plays out as so. Both players accept the duel, they get a 60 second pro timer. The players race against one another for the each shot (if they both miss maybe give them another 60 second timer and run it back, whatever timer people thinks works best). It would play out as if the two are racing a rouge head to head but they're on the other end of the gun instead of a rouge. I'm sure someone could have expanded better on this but yall get the general idea of what I'm proposing. Pros: It hopefully adds some fun to the dueling feature and makes it more likely people use it because they're going head to head against the other person and it's not a matter of chance. Cons: If it ends up not increasing how much the feature is used, this could be creating alot of work for really no reason.
So thoughts? |

And to be clear this isn't replacing anything, just an additional way things can play out for those that would like to remove chance. |

Are the participants protected from anyone else trying to shoot? |

With your last post in mind, does the duel eventually time out if the participants fail to complete it? Are both killed? What is the end game against abuse |

Sorry Madoka just seeing this I’d say if a shot hasnt been fired in 3-5 minutes both just die. This shouldn’t be something people can use to cheese war or anything, so whatever keeps people from doing that I’m in favor of. |

So would this make a duel like thr blinking game? The first one to not do something dies? That could be really enjoyable |

The current duel code sort of takes this into account, if both are under a 1% chance of hitting the other, it bumps up 1% with every round so that its not a 3 hour affair, but if 1 player is at any bit higher than 1% naturally, then it does not escalate and just keeps the existing math so they do not lose their advantage. As far as timers go, we can provide temporary pro during the window of the duel, and restore any previous pro they ad after the duel is over, obtaining no additional pro time afterwards, just the remaining (if any) from any pro they had before the whole duel was initiated. |

Alright so I'd love to say "initial thoughts" here, but as has been pointed out by multiple people...this isn't exactly the "tomorrow" that I'd mentioned. Sue me OKAY! 1 - How exactly do you see the race working mechanically. Rogue or Roguette style? IE: Would each participant have a set HP that they have to chip at, or would they both have a random(presumably same??) pro time? Or would it be as you said - they just both get a 60 second pro? Notes- All of those would be cool, but obviously if the 2 participants had different pro times it would not be fair. 2 - I like the idea about it having a time restriction so that it's less likely to be abused. 3-5 mins no activity seems long imo, but I suppose that we should probably account for the classic "my router cut out" situation... 3 - Just to clarify Dean-Winchester, this would not take in to effect peoples gun or BG/Defense, it would purely be a race to see who gets the kill? |
