*Mr Lombardo sits in front of the local coffee shop eating some cannoli and drinking an espresso. When something comes to mind that he feels is lacking a bit these days.* *He sees a passer by that he has seen at a few underground meetings that Mr Lombardo has attended and attempts to stop him.* Excuse me, Sir. I would like to ask your opinion on something that has to do with this thing of ours. The man nods to Mr Lombardo. Thank you. What is your opinion on the respect given to a Made Man these days? Is it still something respected the way it should or has it totally lost its meaning? *Mr Lombardo clears his throat and sips some of his espresso.* To me being a Made Man means nothing to some. Those not yet fully apart of this thing of ours seem to forget what kind of respect they are to show to a Made guy. They go about talking and doing business with them like they are just another goomba on the street. This is not something that would be allowed ten years ago. *Finishing up his drink he continues.* Ten years ago if you disrespected a Made member of any family you were dealt with swiftly either it be death or by paying tribute to this person. I think we have drifted from our ways and need to be knocked by in line so that future mafioso can live longer and keep this thing of ours alive and kicking for years to come. Otherwise the feds will eat us alive. *Mr Lombardo sits back down and waits for a response. * |

Treat them as if you wanted to be treated and then some, and you'll be fine :) Disrespect a MadeMan, pending on what you've done, you'll be dealt with swiftly. |

Picks up a cannoli and begins his two cents. I think the respect for Made Men has fallen every since the Recommendation system fell out of place. Nowadays, if you have earned it, then you are given it. Crew Leader willing of course. There was no need for other people to say yes, this man or woman deserves the promotion. Finishes his cannoli and two cents. |

Even with the recommendation system in place, there was precious little to separate the Made Men from everyone else. Rank, in and of itself, lost it's meaning a long long time ago. Sometime around when CL's figured out they were stronger with a crew of high ranks than with a crew of Wise Guys. Granted, my family take pretty frequent extended absences from this life, so I may have missed a few, but the last family I knew of that truly made that rank mean anything was 94Octane's and that was a pretty long time ago now! |

It's all well and good being a minion and saying that such and such a rank doesn't mean what it is supposed to do...but totally different when you are the Family head, and it's up to you who is promoted to what position. You must take into account not only the person involved, and whether or not you deem them qualified, but also you are forced to look around, check out the opposition, see what your rivals are like, where their strengths lie. |

Monk, therein lies the issue. It only takes one CL to promote everyone regardless of merit before everyone else is pretty much forced to follow suit or become weaker by comparison. We have now reached a point where it is the norm to promote everyone regardless of merit (with the occasional exception regarding one or two specific members perhaps) therefore anyone NOT doing so is leaving themselves at an enormous disadvantage from the off. Just to correct my earlier comment: I did see a few months ago someone (sorry, I forget who, could well have been one of Fakeman's family) actually using the family/captaincy thing well, with only made man + allowed in the main family. I'm not convinced that earning the rank was any harder in the first place, but it was a nice way to make it that bit more of an achievement. |

Ace is wondering about aimlessly when he hears a discussion going on between a group of mafioso, he stops and listens while he collects his thoughts before deciding to speak This has always been a fairly hot topic & I belive we should bring back traditional values and only reward those truly deserving of becoming a part of the family with the rank of made man. A made man should be someone the boss trusts with his life, if you do not trust someone with your life you should not make them a man of honour. I also believe that the lower ranks should show some respect for made men such as my family have been warned they are to treat fellow mobsters with respect but especially made men unless they want a new pair of cement shoes. When we have problems with made men those involved should have a sit down like back in the old country and decide what the punishment should be with all parties involved plus a neutral body such as a leader from another family. |

I certainly am going to try and only promote those who I have felt deserve it. But it is hard. Because as was said earlier, all it takes is one person promoting willy nilly to put you at a disadvantage. Idealism is a wonderful thing, but practicality dictates that a Don with 30 people Made Man or above is in a better position than a Don with 7 truly deserving people Made Man or above. |

Getting a promotion to Made Man should be an honor. Its the crossover point to where you know your a part of something on another level. You are truly a member of a family and everyone in that family will die for your honor. Lets not forget that a Made Man can go off and go rogue. Do we really want to blindly promote people and give someone the power to possibly kill our leaders. Do we want to put our stability at jeopardy by possibly promoting and untrustworthy person. No disrespect but I think a leader that blindly promotes people and hands out buttons probably shouldn't be a leader in the first place. A leader should have a respect for our community first. Without the community and this thing of ours, and keeping it the way we like it, we are nothing. If I'm blindly handed a button without proving my worth I will turn it down. It's not the way it should be handled. |

All in all the responsibility still lays with the Family head As it has alway been / now yes there has been mistakes along the way but we all grow with time. Yes the respect should still be given no matter what family you come from. Making the rank of Made in these streets still can be a difficult thing, and well it should be. If I was a Boss you would have to impress me on a daily basis if you were to get that shining button. |
