You think you know how to be a great success, make an impression and rise to the top of the pile. Sure? Scorched poses this question to the crowd, and watches them carefully as they exchange looks, nodding hesitantly. Picking out a Mafioso from the crowd, Scorched addresses him and waves him up to the front of the gathering people. You sir, tell me what you believe is the quality that will make your name imprinted in stone throughout history as an outstanding Mafioso. The man hesitates, and collects his thoughts before plunging into an explanation. Well, you obviously need skill. You know, leadership skills. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to run a family right? And I guess you have to run a pretty good family to be remembered. I dunno, intelligence too I spose. You gotta be intelligent to be able to impress your leader during the early days so you can get promoted to Made and shit yeah? So intelligence is kinda important. Uhhh, I guess that will do? Nodding, Scorched smiles and thanks the man as he steps down with a pleased grin on his face. Another person steps up toward Scorched with the purpose to speak, a female this time, and Scorched waves her up. Go ahead miss, tell the crowd and indeed myself what you believe to be the most essential and integral qualities to be successful. Smiling happily, the woman turns from Scorched to face the crowd and takes a breath, then follows on from where the previous contributor had left off. I know this isn't necessarily a quality, but I believe it takes a certain degree of luck to be successful! Sometimes things can fall into place for people, and grant them the opportunity to make a success of a situation, which is the luck part. But also, the ability to grasp the opportunities as they arise is a skill that I think has been essential to the previous successful Mafioso that have graced this world with their presence. Maybe communication skills play a part in this too, after all, good communication with the right people can go long distances I think. Finishing off her sentence, the woman glances at Scorched, nods at him and steps down to signal the end of her contribution. Scorched watches her get to the crowd and turn around, waiting for the next person to talk. Scorched looks away from her, and does likewise, waiting for the next individual to grace this speech with their own opinion. |

A very fat asian man who happened to be listening to Scorched spoke up just then. Although I agree with these two folks, I'd like to add that loyalty is a much more important trait for one who wishes to succeed and make it to the top. He paused briefly to let his words sink in, and to also wipe the beads of sweat from his large brow. There may be times when a boss may think that a subordinate have too much intelligence; this may not be true most of the time. The boss may feel threatened and have the subordinate...removed. However loyalty, like luck is something one never has enough of. If someone is as intelligent as the ancient philosophers, yet turns out to be a backstabbing wretch, he is just that; an intelligent, backstabbing wretch. If someone is not as intelligent, but is loyal to their boss like a dog to its master, then that person will be rewarded. Seoul shrugged his shoulders apologetically and smiled. I hope I didn't babble on too long. |

the son of a once brilliant mind steps up to speak In my opinion, the most needed/essential qualuty that makes a good mafioso is balls... no, not being male either!. The first thing you do when stepping off the boats unto our world is (hopefully) find a family, it takes balls to approach someone you dont know and intrigue them with witty repartee to make them agree with you hat you deserve to be in your family. Ok so you're in a family now, then what? Exactly, maybe you dont know. It takes balls for a lowly gangster to ask a higher-up what their supposed to be doing. Ok so now you're getting better at the game and you want to dabbe in posting and the irc rooms, you dont know what to do, or what to say. It takes balls to think of something to post clears his throat, and apologizes for taking so long In fact, it took balls for me to post this, one of the last posts my father posted lead to his untimely death. bows and steps off the stage |
