(OOC: Might add more lAter, kinda working on a sin city themed story line. Enjoy the first instalment.) It was late, the sun long gone and soon to be back, the moon had already fled for the night as I hurried down the ally, my prey thought he was following a damsel in distress, young and dumb, lost on the wrong side of town. He sure didn't know what he was getting into. I was allot of things, young, pretty, but lost and dumb weren't smart words around me, I run my part of the streets with a quiet hand, but one word would have anyone wearing rock boots and an chain tie. He was a low life, a new man, a thug, giddy to cause trouble, to stupid to see the rising tide and get outa dodge, which made him perfect for tonights questions. And perfect he was. The guys held him in tight fists as I pulled my blade from his throat, he'd put up a fight at first, then cried like a hungry infant when I started cutting, spilled all as he bled, and I knew I had all I could get from him. A name, just one, but it was a stepping stone, and I was one step closer to my answer. Who killed my father? And why? I'll be he first to admit that my father wasn't an innocent, quiet the contrary if rumors of his victims were truths, but he was still my daddy and fast cars, gifts and lots of affection, peppered with cookies and milk when he was in the mood for a chat, made a gal rather attached. We were all there was these days, since mom left us with my little brother and sister, but now I was alone. And some one was gonna pay for that. I wiped my blade on his useless shirt, getting the worse of the blood off, sheething it behind my back as I turned away. "Deal with him. Then get home boys, and remind me to buy you drinks when we get dinner tonight. You've earned it." I heard the grin in their voices as they said their good nights and smiled a little to myself, they were a god send after my mother died, a gift from her killer you might say, but they were loyal to a tee, and I rewarded that well. Sharing all that I could and making their lives easier. They were, in an odd way, my only remaining family. As I entered my car, I revved it up and checked my make up, ignoring the glaring face in the mirror. When I was certain it was perfect I raised my eyebrow at the young man. "Well? What have you to report, the boss need something or were you just enjoying the comfort of my back seat?" He grinned and laughed, the gloomy exterior melting and a rye grin forming naturally on his face. "I can never scare you can I? Well, the boss wants your reports on his desk by Monday, and he'd like to know how your home work is going, any thing new?" Clay and I went way back, his father had taught us both how to survive in the dark world we now ruled over, it'd been a sad day when he died, but we got the bastards who killed him and fed him the freshest tuna you could find, the live stuff. And from there we moved on. Sticking together threw some tough times. "He'll have them. And I have another name, looks like I might be getting closer, I just hope this is over soon, I've got other work to do, revenge is sickening". He smiled sadly and nodded. "You'll get him, then you can move on. Don't worry about it, and let me know if I can help." he climbed out my passenger side and leaned in, dropping a roll of bills on my front seat. "Bonus from the big man, guess he like the way you run things down here. Take care hun, and get some sleep." He waved and was gone into the night before I could reply, so I just dropped my car outta neutral and headed home, suddenly ready to sleep. |

It'd been three years since my father died, I had just turned 19 and we'd come home from a big dinner party he'd thrown in my honor, I was glowing from all the praise and well wishes, and delighted by the car, one more gift from my fathers doting pocket book. He surprised me, bringing a young lady with him and introducing as his fiance, I'd been pissed at first, but gotten over it fast when she handed me the keys with a big grin and a request for first ride. The car, this car, was fast, leaving my hair a mess when I forgot to roll my windows up, if I ran bootlegs, I'd be leaving the flashing blues in the dust quickly, and Lips and I giggled gidily like little gals the whole time, that was, all but the last miles. My father owned a huge property, most of the land near the house was devoted to raising my houses, open for miles to a view of the road in both directions, which made the scene that much more unreal. Flashing lights surrounded the house, the barns, the driveways were packed, but it was the white can with flashing red lights that caught my eye. Lips and I were out of the car in seconds, pushing threw the crowd to the front where I could see the front door, I was stopped suddenly by a blue clad arm. "No civvys Missy." His voice was dead pan, but my eyes weren't looking at him. "Daddy!? Daddy?! Let me threw you dumb pig! That's my house! Daddy!" Some how someone heard me, though the officer at the line ignored my pleas, another man in a suit and tie pulled me in and I found myself being escorted into my house. I stared at the blood on the floor, the walls, the table I'd just been eating at and grabbed the ice bucket, tears and vomit mixed easily but passed quickly. "... He was found here by one of the maids, they confirmed his outfit and rings. He was shot in the back of the head. We're sorry for your loss, we'll let you know when we have more info and when you can get your fathers stuff." They wouldn't though, I'd get my stuff, and they'd get their man, but he too would be in a body bag. Someone was going to pay for my fathers death. |

As the morning light graced the fields around my house I stared out at the herds for horses, my pure breds were highly sought after and provided a great place to loose money. I drove slower then normal, checking the fences and house with my eyes. I'd moved back into my fathers house 6 months after his death. It'd been hard, but quickly it became more and more like he'd never died, maybe he'd come in and toss me the keys to another car he'd just parked in my second barn, or kiss my forehead and slip an envelope of cash in my pocket. My father was a strong man well known and well liked, no one seemed to hate him, no one seemed to mistrust him. Which made his death a hard hitter to many. Lips for one, she died soon after him, some say of a broken heart, others say she knew who killed my dad and went hunting herself. I don't know what happened to her, but I knew my dad loved her as she loved him. The funeral alone was enough proof of that for me. The sky opened up early that morning, as if to wipe the blood from the world and it rained on threw the day. I stood in front of the church like a wilted rose, alone except for the pair of men I'd only just met this morning. They were a parting gift from my mother before she left me, I'd never actually called on them because I had my father and his friends watching over me, but after almost bleeding out in a attempt mugging, my mother had insisted on hireing them for me. Mothers... I'm told they're normally close and loving, warm and caring, but after my parents split I chose to live with my father and I don't think she's forgiven me for it. But who could blame me? I love my daddy, and I've always been closer to him. My brother and sisters stopped calling about a month after my mother moved them to New York, some how I never noticed till I went to call after dad died, the phone went threw to some Chinese restaurant and I found myself crying again. That was the last time I thought of my family, revenge for my father took a fore ground and I joined with Max in a hunt for the family that took so many friends from the streets. My hunt started with those at the party that night, friends and family all, but I had hope someone saw something. At first it was nothing, everything normal. As I worked down the list little things came out, my father had a new associate working for him, who had seen a strange man sitting out in the cars, another man saw him approach my father after I left on my ride. Names came out, he was an enforcer someone said, a wise guy said others, I didn't care, I'd find the root and destroy the men responsible. As I worked my way from the party I found one man after another who could tell me more and more about this stranger, I found a picture and confirmed it with several party guests, and as time went on I got closer and closer to his killer until the day I found myself standing in front of him in a bar. He smiled at me and told me to get my nose off the trail or someone would have it removed, all in a voice that sounded so calluses I almost missed the pity and sorrow that backed it. He died soon after, but not before I got another name. Leon O'Neill. I found myself saying his name over and over as I drove home that night. Leon O'Neal... Who was he? And why did he have my father killed? I thought killing his killer would be enough, but I was already hungry for another death. Leon O'Neill. I'm coming for you. |
