Transferring money from hand Started by: Aidan on Apr 18, '12 01:10

I don't know how hard it would be to code in, but since the game already checks to see if you're money is banked or on hand for things like PPing, I think a few things could be switched around for RP purposes.

When you use the credit marketplace to offer credits for sale, when people buy them, that money should go to the bank since you are not not there sitting eagerly to sell them instantly.

I should be able to transfer small amounts of money to a person's on hand cash instead of the bank. It makes no sense, RP wise, that if I want to return money after PPing somebody I have to run to the nearest bank.

Good point.. So pretty much your saying that there should be a way to return the money the same way you got it ?

I disagree with your first point Aidan.

Credit sales should go on hand, as often its not clear to people with large bank balances whether or not they've received the cash and so they can't raise an issue to admins about lost cash if they don't know whether they lost it or not. Cash going on is much more noticeable.

Just my opinion though.

That sounds like a great problem to have. "I'm so rich I can't tell if I got my 2.75 million from the ten pack of credits I just sold"

lol

Regarding your first point. I think credits and marketplace are OOC, but this just my opinion. I agree with Slash here.

As for your second point, yes it should be possible to transfer (give) people cash on hand'. Not because of the point you make though. Picture it, you just pickpocketed someone and you walk back to give the cash back? If it was me you wanted to return the money to, I'd say 'thank you' and still beat the crap out of you..!

If you want to transfer on hand cash (again?) out of a roleplaying perspective some things will have to change? If you would be able to 'transfer cash on hand' and 'between banks' there should be a difference for roleplaying purposes. Why would you implement two ways of transferring money for the exact same purpose? Now we go back to paying a % for every dollar we bank. Banking is safer so you should pay for it, right? If people don't want to pay interest over every dollar they bank, they should keep the cash on hand, which is unsafe because of the possibility of being pickpocketed. So they will put 'NO PP' in his/hers profile....

Now you're back at the pickpocket debate!

I wish it was one I suffered from lol, sadly i'm just looking at it from all angles and I know having been a CL in the past that with the amount of tributes etc that can come into your account then its not easy to determine whether or not you have actually received monies when they are put straight into your account. Its much clearer though with on hand as most people know what sort of cash they are holding, mainly because most hold very little at all due to the risk of PP.

GaiusAdams; I couldn't agree more. Though if you think about the fact of charges for having a bank, then realisticly you should also look at the fact most banks offer interst for keeping your cash with them, so although we can argue there should be a cost for making your money safer, there is also a reward aspect for choosing to bank your cash (though I'm not saying we should implement this, just again looking at all angles with regard to the RP aspect of things..)

That said; Most banks generally only offer decent interest when money is placed in the account and held for a period of time, i.e you have no access to that money for a period of x months in order to receive x interest.
