As it so happens, I have been shopping for a crew to join.  Something that is of great importance to me is an active (US Friendly), sociable crew chat that does not get trolly.  Here is what I have learned (or experienced in the recent past) through this process in regards to CL/Hands/Sponsors (Using their own words when possible or true to form summary):

Special thanks goes out to Drieza who did offer an opportunity to launch my own crew to build, but with the launch of beluga it doesn't seem likely that a second newly formed crew makes much sense if the desire is for both to be successful.

So as I apparently was not able to find what I was looking for -- in a city I desired to be in -- I shall say fair well and head back to the home country.   Perhaps after the new year things will have improved.

If only you'd been around last year when crew chat was even worse than it is now.  Couple that with the random dirtnaps, you would've had a hoot!

I think the real question here is how do you know what all of these different crew chats are like? 

Mob mails with Sponsors, CLs, and Hands.  Like I said.  I tried to use their own words when it was brief enough and then a good faith summary if it was longer in length.  Mob mails can be provided upon request.

Did you ask which of the crews were active for US time zone before shopping them? A significant percentage of these are not US based so would probably never have been a good fit for you even if they had an active chat. Did you find any of their crew pages useful in aiding your decision? I've recently updated mine to provide information on our activity levels and use of City/Home City chat based upon this thread to give a clearer picture to any prospective recruits.

No I started with the job board with jobs that were available at that time.  When a sponsor or upper reached out to me for doing work, I would try to match their energy and tone.  Some would start with a "Hi, how are you doing?" so I would exchange pleasantries with them.  A couple started things off in role play style recruitment and I would reply in kind.  Some would just jump in with something like, "Hey would you like and invite" or ""Do you have any questions".  

When I got to this point in the conversations, I would then let them know what I was looking for in a crew: An active (US Friendly), sociable crew chat that does not get trolly.

The responses I received were what I recorded in the above table.

The time frames for doing jobs were just random, when I had some time to be online.  Some were during the day here in the US, some were in the evening and then some were early morning (5:00 am East Coast/11 am UK).  I did have to turn the job boards off after about 36 hours so that I could complete petties for my hustle.

No I did not, but this does seem like useful information to include on those crew pages.  Great idea!

Was my job bored never avaliable for you? Just asking to see where I potentially lost coverage at. I find the above information to be facinating.

’ll be honest, it was obvious to most that you had no intention of joining a crew. The reason you did not hear back from some people is solely because of that.

'Most' people were making assumptions that weren’t based on reality but on their own preconceived notions. I genuinely wanted to join a crew back then.
