I was out on a run when this hit me. One of those long ones where your legs stop negotiating and your brain finally shuts up long enough to tell the truth. Mug City does that to you. The longer you stay out there, the clearer things get. Not the motivational-poster kind of clarity the uncomfortable kind. 

Somewhere between mile who-the-fuck-knows and the point where the city smells worse than usual, I realised something.
This world isn’t unfair. It’s honest.

IF more people have mocked your mother’s death in public than attended her funeral
THEN you learned early that sympathy is a currency you were never going to be paid in, and resilience was the only inheritance on offer.

IF TextBasedMafiaRPGMan is deluded enough to think he can run a crew leader masterclass
THEN the barrier to leadership is officially low enough that action finally matters more than competence. Confidence is the entry fee. The streets don’t care if you’re qualified they only care if you show up and don’t fold the first time someone laughs.

IF a weakling like EIkmilk can get his own organised crime family
THEN the bar is not strength, fear, or respect. The bar is taking responsibility for something and not immediately running away. That’s it. That’s the whole test. If he can pass it by accident, no one else gets to pretend the system is rigged against them.

IF the Gutter Saints can set up for a third time
THEN failure clearly isn’t fatal here. Reputation damage is temporary. Embarrassment only lasts as long as you let it. Persistence counts for more than talent, history, or dignity ever will.

IF you can stay loyal to the family that took you in even when an old friend is on the other side, even when it costs you, even when it would be easier not to
THEN this place could actually be great. Because families would mean something. Trust would exist past the first gunshot. People could be brought in, given responsibility, and allowed to experience the real work without everyone immediately assuming betrayal.

The opposite is what breaks everything. When loyalty only runs as deep as familiarity. When old names outweigh new blood. When people smile, nod, take the oath and then play both sides the moment it’s inconvenient. That’s how families rot. That’s how paranoia replaces leadership. That’s how every setback turns into purges. Not because people are cruel but because they’ve learned they can’t afford to trust anyone who won’t choose a side.

IF you’re reading this and feeling attacked
THEN you already know which part applies to you.

And IF all of this can happen in the USA
THEN this place isn’t broken.

It’s functioning exactly as it should. 
It doesn’t protect pride.
It doesn’t pause for mourning once the ground closes.
It just keeps moving.

Which means anyone still standing didn’t get lucky.
They adapted.
They endured.
They stayed in the fight long after it stopped being funny.
That’s the test.

Goggins, you walk and talk like someone who cracks walnuts with his forehead and I respect that. But I have to say, your comment about my masterclass is way off base. My boss EIkmilk has decades of leadership experience that deserve to be shared with the new generation of upstarts making their way up in a cruel and unforgiving world. Just earlier, he expertly negotiated a settlement with the famously stingy and unforgiving DetroitSimon, who you might remember as the guy everyone hates now because he is the central reason and puppet master for all death and war that happen here, which rendered us completely off the hook for damages. I'm not sure whether it was the sheer volume of tears or the blood flow being cut off from Simon's lower torso because of how tightly EIky was squeezing and begging him for mercy, but it worked. And just as the best nobility is inbred rigorously, the best ability is effectivity. So, instead of bubbling up like a boiled tomato, have a glass of milk and relax. The education of the world is in safe hands.
