Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown Started by: Dylan on Jul 23, '08 23:23
Strolling down the streets, browsing through the announcements and entertainment that the many men and women are offering, Dylan takes a moment to lean against the side of a nearby brick building on the corner. His hands warm in his pockets and his hair tousled by the sharp wind spurred on by the high buildings around him, he squints his eyes to look at all the people walking by.

So many of them are young, nondescript men and women. Darting in and out of 7-11's and liquor stores like bees in a hive. And like bees, working almost entirely for the benefit of the elite. The cities were full of leaders, both new and old, and one could see them cruising around in their custom Rolls-Royces. But though the world of the mafia was sometimes a vicious one, it was not a world of animals- although some would argue that there were a few exceptions. Smiling, Dylan noticed a Don assisting one of her younger members, helping straighten him out to hopefully lead a more productive life here, as another CL, accompanied by a group of wise guys, emerged laughing and talking from a bar.

Addressing a small but largely silent crowd, Dylan speaks up.

So much of this world is dependent on those men and women who lead us. In creating and leading a family, the values that they hold are magnified and projected on a larger group of people. Leaders stand alone as the sole caretaker for the lives and well beings of those that have elected to follow them. My family line has never been bold enough to lead their own family, but it has been lucky enough to be a close advisor to several different Family leaders in my relatively short time here. The job may look glamorous to those looking up from the gutter, but as judge, administrator, and first line of defense, the life of a CL is certainly filled with many demands and pressures.

Shakespeare once wrote "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown". I'd like to pose a question to the men and women who currently lead us, as well as those whose family lines have been previously fortunate enough to do so. On a day to day basis, what is the most difficult aspect of leading a family and why? On the flip side of the coin, what do you find most rewarding?

She listens intently and starts to speak, her answers coming to her easily.

Well sir, my family line has had the honour of working with, for, and under some of the most talented and respected.. Ok and feared.. leaders that have found their way to these Streets and those before them. I will address your questions as requested and hope that my answers are acceptable.

On a day to day basis, what is the most difficult aspect of leading a family and why?

I would say that the hardest thing about leading a family is having the patience with not only my members but myself to see that we are growing as a family and that it does not happen overnight. However, a part of me also wishes to answer that it's hard knowing that I am doing enough for those people that work so hard for me. I try and thank them daily, I even try to have fun in the headquarters as much as possible, but still at the end of the day I have to wonder if I am doing enough for those that call me their leader. For me it isn't about myself, it's about those who call The Java Cartel their family.

On the flip side of the coin, what do you find most rewarding?

There are many aspects of leading that I find very rewarding but I have to say that the best moments have been when a new face to our world comes to me for help and I am able to help them. Be them a part of The Java Cartel or another family. There are a few sons and daughters of past Cartel members that still contact me on a regular basis. Seeing their enthusiasm and happiness makes my day that much better. It reminds me of when I found myself broke and hungry staring into the eyes of a granny at the church bake sale. Seeing those faces smiling and happily going about their lives, the children growing into adult members of our society, seeing them come out of their shells and into the Streets.. That's what leading is about. It's about teaching. That's the most rewarding thing to me.

She blushes and smiles.

Oops, I seem to have rambled, for this I do apologize. Again I do hope that my answers are what you are looking for.

She bows her head in respect and carries on about her evening.
