AI > It started good, as AI, especially early ChatGPT models where you could ask questions and get sources, I used it as "web browser" when I needed few sources for XYZ, really good stuff.

My IT related complaint is that a NAS drive has been giving problems, so eventually i turned to ChatGPT for an analysis. I think it gave a sensible diagnosis of the problem but concluded: 

Reality check: is it worth saving?

Funny that the beginning of this thread a lot of the (totally valid) complaints about the world are AI/expensive tech etc. A few months later we're on the edge of world war 3. At least things can only get better right?

Well I have a short ran, what the hell is going on with this USA/Israel vs Iran... Hormuz is closed, half of the Middle-East gas and oil production has been blown to smithereens, ships can't go, but NOT because of the war, but because ONEEEEE insurance company in London (Loyd something) refuses to INSURE during this period, so basically, even if guarantee is given that civilian ships won't be hit, it STILL depends on one bloody company, deciding the fate of the world, trough a laptop that says "Insured" or "Not Insured".

Not to mention everything else, US losing its grip, Israel voting on a law to hang "terrorists", EU losing it's brains as they banned RU oil and now they have ZERO, but it is OKAY because it is for a good cause, which is CO2 or some crap.

you're not really seeing the forest for the trees on that one hydra, they (Lloyds of London, though they are part of a collective of maritime insurers at the heart of this) aren't refusing to insure, they are receiving criticism for the exagerrated spike in their premiums, which have gone up because of the significantly heightened risk (i.e. because of the war). They are a business saying, 'Why are we risking a payout of hundreds of millions, up to a billion+ if things go really wrong, on hull, cargo, liability, ecological damage and environmental cleanup, for an oil tanker moving through an active war zone, across a heavily-mined strait?'. That's what insurance does; if the risk is higher, the premium is higher. You can't expect a private corporation to stand up for the moral good and put themselves on the precipice of a situation that could devastate them because a sovereign nation decided to invade another and throw the entire region into complete chaos.

Not to mention, in terms of guaranteeing civilian safety, Iran have set a blockade that still passes 'friendly' oil (Chinese, Russian), and left a dangerous corridor for the others to navigate, so you would have to convince oil tankers themselves to run their fleets through an active warzone involving the largest military force in the world, across a mined gauntlet, in the heart of modern drone, naval and aerial warfare, and within a situation that is by all means about to get worse (if the US commits to a ground invasion). There is never really any guarantee of safety, as Iran knows too well after the Tanker Wars, after the US entered the conflict as mediators and then proceeded to destroy Iranian tankers while protecting Kuwaiti interests (and accidentally blowing up a civilian commercial airbus to boot). Insurance is a greedy business, and they are almost always the bad guys, but saying all of this is "NOT because of the war" is crazy.

Also, the EU is still not taking Russian oil because they are continuing to practice energy security against a hostile in active conflict with an EU candidate nation, with the added idea of not funding the continuation of that conflict. Russia has historically weaponized their energy influence against the EU in order to dictate policy, and the EU establishing energy independence away from, at the very least, 'less' malevolent interests is smart (not just because of "CO2 or some crap", which is also very important, but a different topic entirely). 

For those in the UK, I wonder what your thoughts are on Keir Starmer? He seems like a man with no backbone - both weak and slimy. 

Overall just better pc prices, pc requirements are getting higher and higher, you know it's bad when my pc can't handle RE4R, but I think I will get RE2r, it's a fun game I played the demo.
