Minaxi didn't grow up thinking she'd become a legend, but it was her destiny. In the bars of New York it was smokey, the cards were flying and so were the insults. Most people knew how to take a joke, and it was all in good fun. She grew up in this environment. Her father, a tailor and degenerate gambler, took her to poker night more times than she can remember. Her mother ran off with the milkman, fed up with her husband's failed attempts to strike it rich at the poker tables. She witnessed more than her fair share of cheating and backroom deals. She was quiet, but she listened and took everything in. When her father's shop burned down, it was the local crime family that stepped in. They helped him rebuild but at a cost. You see they wanted interest, but they also had an eye on Minaxi. They noticed her quick wits and invisible hands. While she lacked brute strength, she made up for it with stealth and precision. She was always thinking 3 steps ahead at all times. She rose with a whisper, not a bang. Others would fight for power, Minaxi would wait for them to kill each other off, and then she would step in as the level headed person she was. She built in silence but her reputation grew. Cooking books, finding lost shipments, dealing with rival crews, there was nothing too little or too big for her. The men around her constantly underestimated her, mistaking her kindness for weakness. Something that Minaxi encouraged as it made everything easier. The years came and went and word spread about her beyond her family. Some whispered that she had a photographic memory, others that she was clairvoyant. The truth was simpler, she paid attention. Every little detail did not escape her. Where others were sloppy, she was careful and organized. When the old boss was shot down in the streets, chaos could have erupted. It was Minaxi who stepped into the shoes, but she didn't use force, she used logic. One by one, the doubters fell in line, or disappeared... She was never officially named Boss. But everyone knew who ran things. In the familiar smoke filled bars she grew up in, they waited for her nod. Minaxi always composed and always watching made sure that the empire didn't just survive, it thrived. Power without a title was more effective because no one saw it coming. |

Kristoff , your insight after hours of dusk till dawn conversations is extraordinary. As you know, I didn't learn power from books. I learned it from watching men lose everything over a bad hand and a bruised ego. I learned it from the way my father's shoulders dropped when the cards didn't fall his way, and from the silence my mother left as she walked out of the door that day. People think chaos is loud. It isn't. Chaos is quiet, it's the moment before someone flips the table, the moment before a deal goes bad or a moment before a bullet finds it's target. That is where I lived. When the shop burned down, everyone saw tragedy, I saw opportunity. The family stepped in, and I watched carefully. Who spoke, who stayed quiet and who collected the debts. They thought they were helping my father, but they were introducing me to my future. I grew into a woman with sharp eyes and soft words. I showed kindness because kindness opens doors. Three steps ahead wasn't enough, I always liked five. I learned early on that power doesn't have to be loud. it doesn't need a title, or fear, or attention. Sometimes it's just being the person others turn to when things feel uncertain. If I can be that then I feel accomplished that I have contributed to keeping the peace in the only world I have ever known. |

Ah yes Minaxi "not the Boss" yet somehow the person everyone looks at before making any decision like it’s completely accidental. I've also not noticed this ongoing theme of her stepping away from this life which is honestly very convincing right up until everything continues running perfectly like nothing changed, pure coincidence obviously I'm sure. She’d probably say it’s just about keeping the peace or being helpful, which is a great way of describing quietly running absolutely everything without ever admitting it. Personally I 100% believe she’s not in charge. Completely. No doubts at all and if that sounds slightly forced it’s only because I value my health and would quite like to avoid any unexpected lessons in respect. So yeah she's not the Boss. Never was. Merely just the person everyone listens to, waits on, and definitely doesn’t fear at all. I’ll just be over here minding my own business. |

"Exactly Matt 'not the boss'" Touches his nose twice while looking at him. He turns to the crowd "Perhaps the looks are due to Minaxi and her striking beauty. It sure doesn't seem like a coincidence to me." He looks back to Matt. "I think if I were in your position I'd believe it as well. She's mean when she's angry. Just ask TinyTim the poor fucker still walks with a limp to this day." Just then Tim walks by dragging one leg behind him. Kristoff looks down and shakes his head. "Keeping the peace must be referring to other people then?" |
