She sits on the window seat in her private suite above the Java Cartel packaging tables. She looks outside at the dreary summer day. The rain sporadically falling, clouds giving the day a grey hue instead of the sunny day she had expected. The people walking down the Street are sullen in appearance. Their eyes directed to the ground, their feet shuffling under them. Occasionally there is a brief interruption in the humdrum of a child running down the streets or a baby crying. She looks up as she hears a sound, it's a young man around the age of 15 with a ciggarette hanging out of his mouth and a club tucked in the belt of his trousers coughing as he takes a drag. She shakes her head at the youth and his attempts too look tough. As she passes by she stops for a moment and places a ten dollar bill in his hands. His eyes brighten and she begins to speak. Kiddo, you got a long way to go before you are intimidating enough to impress me. You aren't doing to bad though. Just remember, we can see through your act... Be real, be genuine, be true to our ways. Then you will get the attention you seek. That club in your pants? You use that for mugging people don't you? A truly skilled attacker can do more with his bare hands than a chunk of wood. The young man blushes and shoves his hands into his pockets. Trying to hide the pistol he found earlier. Is that? Wait a sec, is that a gun in your pants? I'm not trying to sound cliche, but is it? You can't be more than fifteen, the same age as my son. You are carrying a gun around? Why on earth would you do that. Come here, give me that. You'll shoot your eye out. She grabs the gun from his shaking hands and stuffs it in her handbag. Her eyes ablaze she starts to speak in a very hushed and cold voice. You want to shoot do you? You want to go around a needlessly kill those that inhabit our world? Here's a tip, it's not about how many it's about HOW you do it. You could come to me two days from now bragging about murdering 10 men and I would laugh at you. Were the shots clean? Did you make sure to cover your tracks? Did anyone see you? Was it a smart kill or was it one you yourself should die for? Did you approach the situation desperate to feel the warm embrace of a wackgasm as your legs shook beneath you? Do you want to go to jail? Do you want to die? Fuck kid, these are things you have to think about before you take this road. You aren't ready for this. You can't even define respect. You cannot live a life of respect. You cannot imagine what true respect is. You are just a wet behind the ears kid who wants to look the part, play the part, but not KNOW the part. She pulls the cigarette from his mouth and places it in her own. Thanks for the smoke though. She continues down the Street smiling to herself, looking back she sees a puddle has formed on the ground beneath the child. Kids today, they think they can rule the world with a gun and their wit... They have no idea of what it takes to live this life we lead, none at all. There are as many successes as there are "falures". |

Rubiki stands, leaning against a light pole with the bulb burnt out. He smokes his cigar, keeping watch on the poor young child getting a well needed lecture from Iris. When she walks away, Rubiki can't help but laugh to himself "Poor kid. Thought he was hot shit. Now look at him. But Iris does bring up a point; however I am curious of one thing. It is said that to train your body and more importantly your mind, you must get comfortable with the use of your gun, and the empty stare of a body when the bullet hits them should not startle you. A training range can only prepare you so much. I wonder what Iris would think if someone told her the only way to get over yourself, is to train your mentality; by shooting often." Rubiki pauses, takes another puff, then stands up straight "I gotta stop talking to myself. Bad for my health." |

I think shooting often can train the mentality needed to be cold, but that is not the sort of mentality that Iris speaks about. She is talking about the young whippersnappers who try to put up a facade of someone who has mastered the trade. I know of what she speaks. You can't really blame these punks for wanting to fit in or be like those they model themselves after, but it is rather laughable to those who can see through the facade. They are simply making fools of themselves. Along the same lines, you get the young punk who fancies himself a con artist, and tries to pull a scam on some wise old man. You can't con a con, and you can't convince an old man that you are someone you are not. Patience and continued learning are important, and by adhering to this, some day those punks will not have to fake it. |

Although I must say, in response to FlyingPig, that it is of some consolation that the young punks you speak of either grow up or die. If someone tells them off, warns them, educates them early on, they might learn and maybe grow to become a well-respected mafioso. If they continue trying to scam others/act tough...it's concrete shoes for them. |

Call me crazy, but I think that some; not all, but some of these kids act tough just to get by. In their minds, they see no other way to act other than to put on this persona. To keep their rough exterior while they boil with fear inside their hearts. I imagine that still you are not talking about the same punks. But my point is that there are some kids out there with a honorable heart just waiting to show his potential. And, unfortunately, there are kids out there that couldn't spell integrity, while they shoot their guns maniacally. |

Youngings today just don't seem to understand what our world is all about. The come storming out of the gates with more bravado then brains. Maybe it's the fault of us elders not sharing enough of our wisdom. I for one would much rather use words to put a new blood in his place before pointing my gun and pulling the trigger. After all how does another dead body help put more cash in my pockets, or offer me more protection from my enemies. takes his hat off and bows to Iris before wrapping his coat tight and heading off into the wind. |

Furio has been sitting and listening intently. Not looking up, only gazing into his capuccino in th ecool morning air These youngsters are all full of piss and vinegar sometimes. They let the rage and exuberance of youth take over their lives. There is a time and a place for this, however, for every action there is a more powerful reaction. Wisdom of time and experience and paying homage to our ways is the only way to carve a future for yourself |

We have old timers running around with the knowledge but the majority of them are unwilling to teach the things they have learned. They would rather let the kids fend for themselves or learn from those less experience or those that believe it's all in the numbers. They are not being taught as many of us were. They know nothing different. We can have guides and teachings pasted to every window of every shop. We can have universities and colleges in every HQ or Back Alley... They won't help unless we are there to guide them, to teach them that the way of the gun is not just about how many you kill. Until we do something different there will be no change in the mentality of our youths. Our world will continue to be a shooting gallery for shits and giggles, oh and bragging.. "i keelz0red 25 peeps in 3 days. i m r g0d of teh wack!" will become more common than it already is. Is this really what we want? Is this really what our world has become? |

Watching Iris speaking passsionately about training and teaching new Mafioso after having heard her speech earlier, Alessia runs to catch up with her for their lunch date The answer Iris is a resounding NO, there are enough places where kids who want to do nothing but crime and shoot to be, our world is different. It is supposed to be based on talent in many areas. I agree with you regarding the universities etc., that their must be someone leading a we behind the ears kid thru all of it, not just words put in front of it. Our subcrew leaders should be playing a big role in that, everyone in the family should be. Otherwise, our cities are sure to turn into a world like those other places. And to prove our point - look at the number of people, including older, experienced mafioso with a long ancestry here who push at us constantly to war - not for any reason other then to have one taken down. That to me is the ultimate proof that all of us in family hierarchies need to pay more attention and drive our people less to shooting and more to the other areas to learn and work in. |
