When the burden of leadership is thrust upon you what is your first reaction?

Is it that you are happy with the power you have or wish to consolidate it?

Or is it an ego trip? Or do you lead like some of the best where your own personal wants and needs are second to the city and your loyal members?

We have seen all examples of these in this thing of ours but the turning on your own city and members because an entity not even in your city makes a call. It could be your closest ally or friend, even your crew leader or even the hands you chose to represent you?

Would you step down to save your crew or just be a nodding dog and follow the orders of a tyrant.

Many revenges in our world are due to a failure of loyalty or even the slaying of the children of a past family.

Winston tips his hat to the crowd and awaits the reaction.

Sarto looked at Winston, and gave him a short nod, before proceeding to say..

A lot of people are living in the past, and seem to struggle to separate what is relevant now, and what may be relevant for the future. My main concern is that a lot of people lost their lives recently, over old and family related grudges. Not to mention that people that had no involvement in the past, also lost their life. I lost my father, even though he had done no harm in the past, and were not involved in any of the recent wars that spread around our country.

It's never going to change, even though I believe a change would be better for everyone.

Enricho had joined the forming crowd on its skirts. He didn't know if this was going to just be some more ramblings of the mad. Taken by the wisdom of Mr. Churchill:

"I,The Great Enricho!" He turned heads and cought a few eye rolls. With a shining grin from the attention, he continued, "I have but one question!" pausing for dramatic effect which likely cought a few more eye rolls. "If the point of what you've all created throughout the years is to have fun and build friendships, why hold grudges? New bloodlines can be formed, new families emerge after every war with the same plot, and yet believing that you must avenge yourselves without any realistic reasons? After months? You spent more time wallowing in hatred than you did having fun. What's the point? Learn to forgive. Learn that this place is meant to be a revolving door. Your place here is temporary, your children's place here is temporary. Let grievances be known, work with crew leaders and the godfathers if you expect reperations for what's looked as a disrespectful cut down of your fathers or mothers. You just look like fools to The Great Enricho." Enricho didn't seem to have taken a breath in that entire rant. Having reached his self designated title a second time, he allows a moment for his words to pull effect. "I would love to see you all figuring out a way to make what we do the center piece of everything here. Hidden revenge archs are stupid and immature."

Enricho leaves.

Don listens to what has been said, nods along with some points being made, he removes his cap, takes a pace forward and gestures towards Mr Churchill.

Thankyou sir, if I may, this is a curious one because in my mind this is less about leadership and more about character. We all stand here today trying to make our way in the world, making prosperous lives for ourselves and our families. and everyone of us thinks we are not just doing it for the right reasons, but with the best intentions at heart. 

Those whose bloodlines go back several to dozens of generations, I can understand that any hurt and pain suffered would be carried intergenerationally, an intergenerational trauma if you will. but here is the thing, if that trauma leads to us be born with hatred in our blood, it can be a long life, hatred wears you down, grinds at your soul and you miss out on some of the precious joys of this life. 

I think what we sometimes fail to consider is the collateral damage of our hatred, our intergenerational trauma. Think of the lives that have been lost because of a multi generational feud. Innocent lives that would have never seen coming what lead to their demise. 

How do we solve this? honestly, I don't think we can. We are human, and for all of our good intentions we are fallible creatures. Capable of the greatest of errors, mistakes and misjudgements, and so our lineages will continue to go on, will continue to be gunned down because Joe Bloggs great great great grandfather fell out with John Handcock's great great great grandfather. It is a tale as old as time, and will continue to be told when we are all long but distant memories.
