It was another Saturday morning in the cold and humid city of New York. Atropos had just woken up and was preparing his morning coffee. It was a routine he held religiously every day. An hour of enjoying coffee and smoking before he would make his way to the crew headquarters. He dressed up and made sure he got his keys before leaving his house. God knows how many times he had locked himself out in the past. "Raining again" he thought as he walked out the door and looked up at the sky. As he was taking his car key out of his pocket, he realised he could not remember where his car was parked. "Better start walking before the boss lady gets mad" he thought and started walking towards Norella's headquarters. Suddenly as he was taking a corner, he spotted the kid they had for chores running towards his direction. "SIR, SIR" the kid screamed as he was running towards Atropos. " They killed him sir. They killed The Duke! Quickly, the boss sent me to get you to the headquarters. Everyone is already there" The news pierced Atropos' soul like daggers, but there was no time to mourn yet and he started running. Soon he reached the HQ and entered the door only to see everyone inside forming a circle around Norella. "Oh good. You are finally here" Norella said. "We need to talk in my office" she continued as she turned around moving towards it. Once Atropos closed the door behind him, he turned to Norella. "What happened Boss? What are we going to do now?" He asked only to recieve an answer in a very urgent tone "Some wild gunner found a chance and took away our beloved Duke" she said with a broken voice. "But the city cannot wait Atropos. Take these” she said as she pointed towards a set of keys on her desk. "They are to that place at Broadway and Crossbay. Set up your headquarters there". He grabbed the keys and stormed out of the building. He only walked for 10, maybe 15 minutes before he reached his destination. He opened the door and took a quick look inside. The place looked pretty good already but it would need some polishing for sure. "I will definitely need a cat here" he thought as he heard some strange noises coming from the back of the main hall. Thankfully he had thought of his crew name while walking all the way there. He always found the great explorers of the past fascinating and he was an exceptional snowman builder himself. "The Antarctic Expedition" was perfect for combining his passion of ice and a name for the traveling agency the headquarters would operate as a front. |
