(OOC: The beginning is broken up into two posts, just to make it a bit easier on the eye's and less of a TLDR, even though it is still probably TLDR for many)

Bluey

As a young girl, Zita had lost her mother the day she was born. Leaving her father with a burden that he never cared to have to begin with. Her father was a factory worker and instead of leaving her with someone that would take good care of her while he was at work, he instead brought her to work with him and let her wander around the shop.

While only a baby she would typically stay right by her father, crawling around the factory wasn't very appealing to her, but by the time she was four she was starting to venture off. The conditions were far from safe, but being so young she hardly understood that the world was a dangerous place. Zita was a very curious girl and even at an early age showed her interesting personality that she would carry into adulthood.

Being an ordinary day for Zita and her father they headed out to his work. He never spoke a word to her, but she happily hummed as they walked. Today, was her fifth birthday, but her father paid no heed to it. Yet, even though her father showed her no affection she had came to think him taking her to his work was his quiet way of saying he cared. Once they arrived he clocked in and went to his work. Shooing her off, Zita went about her normal routine of exploring the factory.

There were huge tubs that carried an unknown liquid that she had yet to venture towards. Towering over her as she reached them, Zita's fluorescent blue eye's examined them with pure excitement. Seeing the ladder next to one, she began to climb. No one in the factory noticed the small child scaling a ladder as they were all to busy at work. The place was noisy and many times gave her a headache.

Reaching the top, she glanced around in amazement, the liquid has a blue tint to it, but she had no idea what it was. Leaning over to get a better look she lost her grip on the ladder and slipped in. Screaming, Zita tried to call for help. The tank was deep and she had never learned how to swim. Her arms flailing in the air, she tried to reach the surface of the liquid and let out another scream. She couldn't keep herself above to breathe and call for help much longer. With her muscle's tiring she used all the strength she could find in her to let out one last terrifying scream.

Employee's below thought they heard something when one of them caught the sight of a hand just barely going above the top of the tub. The man that spotted it just happened to be her father. Running over to the ladder he quickly climbed to the top and saw his daughter sinking to the bottom. Jumping in he swam down and wrapped his arms around the limp body. Climbing out of the tub and went down the ladder and laid Zita down on the ground. Frustrated and angry he began to curse. Finding the shower that employee's would use to wash the oil off, he quickly got all the liquid off of himself from having jumped into the tub.

Walking back over to his daughter he had found one of the other men over top of her. Throwing the man off of her, he glared at him and looked down at her. Her breathing was soft, but she was still alive. Picking her up he left, his facial expression showed how displeased he was. Having had enough of having to take care of the child he never wanted he went straight to the orphanage.

Walking in the doors he placed her down and left. The lady sitting at the desk waved her hands and tried to run after him, yelling that he needed to fill out paperwork, but he didn't stop to even hear a word from her mouth. Turning around she looked at the girl, she had the blue liquid all over her body and clothes, her hair being soaked in it. Letting out a sigh, she picked her up and headed to the washroom.

Zita was passed out for around 16 hours before she finally came to. Opening her eyes she found herself in a room with around twelve beds in it, six on each side. She was still too weak to be startled, but her eye's showed her fear. She wasn't home and she looked around to try and find her father. He was no where to be seen. Holding the pillow close she felt a small tear run down the side of her cheek as she realized she was alone.

“Up, up,” Said a sweet voice, from the lady that stood before her now. “You need to drink this, my dear.”

Zita attempted to sit up, but failed with the little strength she had. The lady gave a soft smile and helped her sit up against the pillow. Taking the glass she felt the woman's hand hold it in place in her hand, she helped her lift it to her chin and she took a sip.

“You'll be fine by tomorrow and then you can meet your new family.”

Looking at the lady, confused, she just smiled at her. Her eye's now saw other boys and girls in the room, some playing with toy soldiers, others telling secrets and giggling. Feeling the pat of the lady's hand on her head, she watched her as she left.

Zita couldn't shake this feeling that she was being watched from her right, so she slowly turned her head to look over at the boy that sat on the bed next to hers. He was staring at her very intently, he seemed to be in awe of her. Smiling when he realized she was looking at him, he waved.

“Hello there!” He happily said.

Zita cleared her throat and smiled. Her body was still recovering from nearly drowning. Yet, this didn't deter the boy from asking her questions. His smile shined bright, almost as bright as the lights around her. His blonde hair matching the sunlight and his eye's as white as the moon, with a hint of silver around his pupil.

“You're hair...it's so blue, how did it get that way?” He asked with a hint of eagerness.

Zita gave him an unsure look so he picked up the mirror laying on their night stand and held it up to her. Her eye's grew wide as she saw the deep blue hair that surrounded her face. Realizing she didn't know, the boy quickly put the mirror down.

“I'm sorry! I thought you...you...were like born that way! It is very pretty! I've never seen anything like it!” Feeling as if he was only making things worse, he quickly piped up again.

“Can I call you Neon!?” He asked excitedly. Zita smiled at that. She actually liked it. Nodding she responded.

“Only...if...if I can call you Li...Lights,” She croaked out. They both smiled and spent the rest of the day and night together, giggling and smiling.

Neon Lights

It was a muggy morning as the two finished packing. All the years they had spent together formed a bond that was unbreakable, like brother and sister. They never went by their real names and always called each other by Neon and Lights. Looking over at each other they held smiles on their faces as they took one last look around the apartment they shared.

Having left the orphanage a few years back they shared everything they had. The only way they got through life was with each other and so what was one's was considered the other's. Lifting their suitcases up they made their way down the stairs and out of the building. Their new lives lay ahead of them in the two tickets they had bought. The voyage over the sea to America. A few ships were leaving today and all were heading to different parts of the United States. Some to New York, which many chose to go to, some to Portsmouth, Virginia, and some all the way to Los Angeles, California!

There was quite the crowd at the docks, so many faces and noises. Neon's head was quickly snapping back and forth looking at all the people. She quickly grabbed Lights's hand and held it tight. Feeling the eye's upon her she looked at him and he just gave her a smile and a soft squeeze with his hand to comfort her.

They both had planned to take the ship to Portsmouth and start a new life. Granted they would both have to go their own ways eventually, but for now they were all each other had. Seeing their boarding area, they made their way over. Yet, suddenly she felt a rush of people shoving them around. Panicking, Neon let go of his hand for a moment and then felt herself being shoved away. Screaming she reached for him. He tried to grab her hand, but the people were all rushing to get on the ship to leave. Neon continued to try and push her way to him, but the crowd continued to move her farther and farther away from him.

“Lights!” She screamed out. “Lights!!!”

It was no use, her path was chosen for her by all the people and she could only hope that when on the ship she could find him. Boarding she gave them her ticket and found her place. She would have to wait until everything died down before she could search for him.

As time passed she finally got up and began to walk around. There were many families and a few couples. Some men by themselves, but no women alone. Her heart began to sink as she searched the faces for his. He wasn't to be found.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, we are now on our way to Los Angeles. Please make yourselves comfortable as this will be a long journey there.”

Neon stopped in her tracks when she heard Los Angeles. She had boarded the wrong ship! She was never going to see Lights again!

Report Post Tip

From the moment Lights' hand left Neon's, and the crowd pressed around them, he panicked. He had never truly been alone his entire life. His parents had never wanted him, so the day he was born he was dropped off at the orphanage, or so he was told. The people there were nice enough, but never seemed to comprehend the definition of tact. They told you how it was, no matter what you thought of it. So, from day one he lived at the orphanage. He always had the other boys and girls to keep him company. Then, when he was seven, he met Neon. They were inseparable, and even when he moved out of the orphanage at 19, he did so with Neon. She was like a sister to him, and he couldn't bear the thought of losing her.

She had once gotten lost trying to get back to their apartment. She was gone for a few hours when Lights began to look for her. He searched for a few hours more, just to find her back at the apartment. Neither of them took the thought of losing each other lightly. They made jokes of it all the time, her getting lost on such a simple trip to the market. She hated when he did it, but it always made light of the situation, and made him laugh. He was like the typical big brother, always picking on the younger sibling. They had a good life, until they decided to move to America. That's when things fell apart...

He saw her fading away in the crowd. He heard her calling his name. Screaming frantically for him to come back to her. He tried to push through all the people to get to her, but there were too many. It seemed once he pushed past one, there was another two men to block his path. Soon enough he was pushed onto the boat. He thought maybe she'd end up on the same boat, but once he boarded he noticed it was full of nothing but middle aged men. His heart sank at the thought of never seeing his sister again. Suddenly a voice came over the loud speaker.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please be seated. We will be departing shortly. We are on our way to Portsmouth, Virginia!"

Portsmouth was Neon's idea. He wanted to go to New York City. The thought of living in a big, bustling city seemed to excite him, but Neon got her way, as she did most of the time. He couldn't stand her pouty face, and she knew it. He was going to begin his new life on his own, for the first time in his life. He couldn't help but feel a bit excited about getting away from home, but the thought of Neon being lost ate at him. Having been restless with anticipation the past few days, he propped his head on the wall of the boat, and drifted into a dreamless sleep.

He awoke hours later, to an announcement over the loud speaker.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we will be docking in Portsmouth in a matter of minutes. Once we arrive, you will be put through an immigration process, and after that you are free to live your lives."

Lights had literally slept through the entire trip. He had no idea how long it took, but he still couldn't seem to find the energy to move. Once they docked, he found his legs, and exited the ship. He went through hours of processing, but finally received his green card. As he looked out at his first glimpse of America, he had a wonderful idea. He could make his way to New York, and once there earn some money to hire some help to find out where his sister had ended up. He began to smile, and began to look forward to the future.

Days later, he decided to stop in Philadelphia to rest before making the final leg of the journey to New York. He was sitting in a diner, having some coffee and pie when he noticed a well dressed woman enter. She looked at him and he flashed her one of his winning smiles. Being the dashing, and incredibly handsome lad that he is, the woman couldn't help but blush. He had finished his coffee, and laid a few bills on the table to cover his tab. He noticed that the woman watched him walk out.

He made his way down the street towards his hotel room. On the way, he noticed a man with a noticeably fat wallet in his back pocket. He had become rather adept at picking pockets, and stealing what money he could. It was the only way to pay for his journey as he couldn't stay long enough to hold down a job. He made a decent living off other people's hard earned money. He had every intention of stopping once he reached New York. That was when he looked back and noticed the woman from the diner was following him. A little nervous, he dipped into an alleyway to wait for her to pass by. Once she did he grabbed her and pinned her against the wall, determined to find out why she was following him. Before he could get a word out, however, he noticed she had a gun pressed into his abdomen. He let go of her, and backed away slightly.

"Heh, wasn't expecting that were you?" she asked. "I noticed you stealing money from that poor gentleman, you realize you're stealing money on my bosses turf don't you? My name is Coco, and I work for a man named DeadlySin, he doesn't take to people skimming his cash flow lightly..."

Neon arrived at the dock in L.A. Grabbing her bag she slowly followed the crowd as it made it's way down and onto their new home. Getting through the immigration system was a pain, but it only took her a few hours before she was on her way.

She needed to find a place to stay and quickly find a job. This was her first few steps that would lead her to find her brother, Lights. Asking the few people around her where the better part of town was, she then came to the realization that American's weren't going to be that friendly to her. The looks the men gave her made her feel as if she was a piece of scum. Nodding and saying “Thanks anyways.”, she began to make her way into the city.

The area right around where the dock was bustled with life. This was where people made their money selling their goods and where others spent it on buying what was best. For her it felt a little like home, but the voices and people looked far different. Moving along she headed to what looked like apartments.

Suddenly, she could feel a few eyes upon her. Having dealt with this before from her government, Neon kept her head low and continued on. Yet, she could feel that those watching had not stopped. Gripping her bag a little tighter, she picked up speed as she headed towards a more crowded street.

Then feeling a hand on her bag she turned and kneed the man before running. A bunch of thugs had decided to make this new girl their target. Rounding the corner she dipped into the shop and then pretended she was a customer walking out. When the last thug came around she tripped him and then put her arm down against his throat.

The boy stared at her, Neon drew her arm back and stood up. He looked to only be about 15. Why would he be bothering with this kind of stuff? Thankful, the boy got up and ran after the men. Glancing around, she threw her bag over her shoulder and started on her way until she her someone trying to get her attention.

“Psst.” Frowning, Neon let her eyes look back and forth. “Psst.”

Spotting an older man sitting on a bench nearby, she made her way over to him. He lifted his hat a tad and gave her a grand smile.

“Nice moves you got there, gal.” He said to her and extended his hand. Taking it cautiously, Neon gave him a small smirk before putting her hand on her hip. “Although, in these parts that could make more enemies than friends, unless you have the right protection.”

Tilting her head to the side, she then raised her eyebrow. She didn't exactly understand what he was getting at. Seeing her confusion he motioned for her to sit down. What he wanted to say wasn't for others to hear.

“I can tell you're new here. You look frightened and lost. Like a little puppy. Yet, I know a man who can turn a beautiful and unique girl, like yourself, in a women that all men respect. Good pay and no one will harm you. Interested?” Grinning he gave her an address and sent her on her way.

Neon still didn't completely follow what the older man was getting at, but she knew this was an opportunity she shouldn't miss. Asking directions she made her way to the large building that was on the paper. There were a few men hanging around outside of it, that eyed her up and down. Yet, they allowed her to walk right in, but it wasn't a few seconds that she had been inside that a man approached her.

“The name is Kurtz and unless you have business here, I suggest you leave as fast as you came.” Neon could feel her hands tremble a bit, but she then showed him the paper and told him about the old man. The tension ceased and he smiled. “Right this way then, Marston isn't very busy at the moment and I'm sure he'd love to chat.”

Report Post Tip

It had been about a month since Lights had met Coco in that alley. It turns out that all she wanted to do was offer him a job. A job that would pay a lot more than he was making picking pockets. And that was saying something, as he was making quite a bit there. It turns out Coco's boss was DeadlySin, a mob boss with ties across the country. When he found this out, his spirits lifted, as he knew that it would help him find Neon. He missed her, it was strange not being with her all the time, but he was adjusting to this new life quickly.

It took a few weeks for him to work himself into the organization to ask for the favor of finding his sister. He had apparently made quite an impression on DeadlySin and Coco. Not only did they agree to help him, but they wanted to make sure he couldn't be touched by prying fingers. They had spent a large amount of money paying for a mass of bodyguards to protect him. He thought this was a bit unusual, but what did he know, he was new to this life and for all he knew it was normal for them to spend that kind of money protecting someone they valued. Lights had found Neon a couple weeks back, but didn't know what to say when he called. How was he supposed to tell her he had joined the life of crime to make a living? It wore on him, until one day when his life was about to change.

"I want you to head up your own crime family, now that I've taken the reigns of Godfather" DeadlySin had told him. He knew it was traditional Right Hand Man to help things run smoothly, and he had finally figured out how he was to tell his sister about his new life. She would be proud of him, he knew it. He made his way to his desk, and picked up his phone. At the same time, he pulled the slip of paper out of his pocket with Neon's phone number. He began dialing the number, and waited for a response.

"Wow...it's good to hear your voice..." he said when she answered the phone. She had begun shrieking into the phone with excitement. It lifted his heart to know she had missed him as much as he missed her. They caught up for a while, and it made the conversation a bit easier when she was the first to admit that she found her way into the life of crime. She had joined up with a man named Marston, a friend of DeadlySin, which made it easy for him to find her.

"I'm really glad you're doing well for yourself...No I don't think it's bad the way you're making a living...Actually, I have something to tell you...I've found my way into a similar lifestyle here in Philadelphia...Crazy right?...Actually, it's a bit more than that...DeadlySin took up the rank of Godfather, and he left it up to me to pick up my own interests in the city...Heh, that means I'm the newest mob boss of Philadelphia!...I know right!? It's amazing, I never would have imagined I would end up like this...I need a favor though..."

There was a period of silence after the last sentence, she had began to worry what he was going to ask her. This would be an amazing change for the both of them.

"You still there?...Okay, here's the thing. I need some help...I need some help with my new business of course. I want you to by my partner in crime, my right hand, so to speak. What do you think?"

His heart lifted even further when he received her answer.

Neon stood on the other end of the line in shock. She looked over at Marston and felt her heart sink a bit, but at the same time her stomach had butterflies. She owed everything to Marston since the day he took her in and gave her a name. Yet, he seemed to already know the news that she was just now being told. Smiling and nodding at her, he reassured her that it was okay.

“To be with you again? That was always my dream to get back to you. Yet, not only would I return to you, I'd help you run things? Oh, Lights! I would love to!” She said joyfully.

Looking back over at Marston, her smile glowed bright, almost brighter than her hair. Putting the phone down she walked over to her boss and hugged him tightly. She felt a few tears run down her face as she knew she would miss him greatly, but at the same time she was overjoyed to be returning to her brother.

Heading to her room, she began to pack her things. Putting her gun in the holster on her leg under her dress she then went through all her dresser drawers. She grabbed a few pictures she had framed of her current family and placed them down in the suitcase. Neon stood there for a few moments staring at the pictures. Even though they wouldn't be far she was going to miss them greatly. Hearing a knock on the door, she turned to see Manius standing there. Smiling she waved to her friend.

“Your train leaves tomorrow morning. I'll be driving you there.”

Neon could tell he wasn't happy that she was leaving them, but he was happy for her. Giving him a hug. She thanked him and made sure he knew she would call from time to time. He was one of the people that had helped her out along her way as a mobster and because of this they had grown to be very good friends.

Nodding goodbye to him, she closed her suitcases and laid down on her bed for one last time. Life for her was about to change. Not a whole lot, but she was about to take on quite a bit of responsibility. She had very few worries though, seeing as she would be working alongside her best friend and brother.

Lights hung up the phone, relieved that she had accepted. He knew she would, but doubt tends to linger in the back of his mind. His sister was coming. That's all he had to think about now. He began over thinking the situation. Would she like his set up? Would she approve of the way he was leading his family? Would she be more comfortable with him than the new friends she had made? It had been a while since they've seen each other, and he hoped it didn't mean they grew apart.

He turned his mind to other things, knowing his sister would love everything about her new home. He had to make preparations. He was going to throw her a surprise party to celebrate her arrival. He already had an amazing family started, and it was about to get bigger. His family would welcome the new comer with open arms. She had already begun making her name with Marston, just as he had began his in Philadelphia with DeadlySin. They were about to forge a new name together, one that would linger in the minds for generations...Metropolis.

He began making phone calls to begin preparations for tomorrow. That's when she arrived.

Lights couldn't sleep well that night, too much excitement for the day to come. He was now sitting on the platform at the train station waiting for Neon to arrive. Her train was supposed to pull in at 10am, and it was now 11:15. He was beginning to wonder what happened, but he knew how unreliable train schedules could be. He looked around at the few bodyguards he had brought with him. They had done their job as some low life tried to pick his pockets when he arrived. He didn't know what happened to the boy, but he could hear his cries of pain from around the corner. The thought that it used to be him tickled him. To look at how far he's come since arriving made him smile.

In his memories he failed to notice a train had pulled into the station. He looked up just in time to see Neon step onto the platform...

Stepping down onto the platform at the train station, Neon struggled a bit to get her two suitcases off with her. Smiling at her bodyguard who helped her, she then nodded and looked around. Spotting Lights as he came towards her, she felt her heart flutter. Dropping her suitcases she ran over to her brother and hugged him tightly. After quite a few minutes she heard one of his guards clear his throat and tell them they needed to be on their way.

Neon jumped back and quickly looked around for her suitcases. One of his men had already grabbed them and was on his way to their ride. Walking hand in hand as they smiled happily, the day became so much better now that they were finally back together. Having spent all that time trying to work her way up to go out and find him, only to have him contact her asking her to come here and help him. Life had worked out perfectly.

“We have a lot to do, Neon.” He said to her as they rode towards the HQ“Yet, first...I have a surprise for you.”

Upon entering their headquarters, she was startled by all the people inside who jumped out and screamed SURPRISE! Almost jumping out of her two inch heels, Neon squealed in excitement. Thanking everyone she couldn't hide her grin. Things were starting to feel a bit more welcoming and she knew it wouldn't be long until she felt at home.

Lights was staying out of the way as she met everyone in her new family. Then as things began to die down and people had got their fill of the cake and booze, he made his way over to her and watched as her eyes glowed at the sight of him.

“Tomorrow we will begin our new life together. It will be a long and bumpy road, but I know with you beside me, we can do anything, just like we used to do!”

Neon smiled at his words. She nodded and gave him a small hug as they enjoyed the rest of the party.

“It was never over, just a new beginning!” She cried out and raised her glass.
