*The ghost of Billy Bathtub temporarily inhabits the corporeal ((too much Oblivion led me to using that word)) form of KaBoom* Something has been grinding in me over the last few weeks. I see for the most part the world has grown substantially, that is good... Now let's look at the bad... Nay, the abominable. The awful practice of naming captains as new city heads and allowing them to leave the nest. On paper it looks cool, but in my opinion, captaincy should not be proving grounds for people to show their worth in running their own city. First of all, people who pledged loyalty to LargeHamster and Daera joined those crews to be a part of the larger families run by Alessia *shudder, I know* and Iris respectively. Why is that never thought of when leaders foolhardily auth captains to run cities? Shouldn't those very same members be given the courtesy to join any new captains set up in their stead? What good is the captain rank if none of the leaders adhere to its role in this world? This is not the only problem. We're left with a bunch of leaders, but they all belong to bigger factions. People like Czar, LargeHamster, and TM-Scarface will always be associated to Alessia, the same with Kangaroo and Daera to Iris. This is actually one of the biggest issues that grated my nerves during the CP era - the homogenization of families. When a person is auth'd into a city they are supposed to offer a new, vibrant style to this world. I know guys like Daera are very capable of bringing the heat, but does anyone see him or LargeHamster ever acting without their former family head's consent? No. When a family head that runs their own city is restricted to asking for permission on anything controversial, I have to wonder, how is that use of Captaincy effective? Right now there's a bit of stagnancy, and I'm not speaking just on behalf of war, or lack thereof, but everyone seems so concerned with not stepping on anyone else's toes that they stick to their safety circles of old friends and family. For all I know war between two families could break out tomorrow and stay concentrated in those two groups and prove this entire rant wrong. However, I think we all know that if LargeHamster got into a scuffle, amidst the protection shots he incessantly takes from Twisted Sister, he would call on Alessia to save him, and she would more than likely oblige. And everyone can say, "That's 100% untrue broham", but nobody in this world has seen anything that would prove it otherwise yet. I implore leaders to STOP authing captains into becoming city-heads, because the ties that bind are too prevalent. Think about it for a second crewleaders, when someone mails you when you are filled to capacity and is like, "Plz to make ur crew acquaintance", what do you say? "Plz to send ur application to my captain crew, they are a part of this family 2." I think it's irresponsible to do that and then send said captain to a new city. The only time a captain should step up to become the leader of a city is when their leader dies. Kk, love you. Boo. |

I hope that your words are taken to heart. The worst death is a slow death, and the cities die a slow death when this "homogenization" of families takes place. The lowest point in our history was when the U.N. controlled every city about two years ago. People left for the old country - not because they were angry or sick of being killed. They were just bored. Bored shitless. When my ancient ancestor Piggeh the First became a crewleader following that era, his top priority was to ensure diversity among the cities. It worked out wonderfully, in my opinion, as that policy continued through the families of Black Fog and Anita. There was always tension and politics in the air. That simply does not happen when every crew is a veiled extension of another family. In your example, you claimed that there were really only two families here at the moment. I'm not sure I agree with that, but the underlying point is valid. Leaders need to stand on their own two feet and demonstrate their individuality and independence. Families should stay together rather than splinter off into separate groups. If a city needs to be filled with a new family, don't split your family in half and send half to another city. Auth a leader who has their own unique and separate group of loyal followers, who will have their own identity. |

I don't see where your getting at on this subject. If a Family head auths anyone for a chance to run their city, wouldn't they be from their Family? Wouldn't their loyalty and hard work be the reason their former leader authed them in the first place? Iris felt Daera was right for the job, which he is, and Alessia felt the Hamster could handle his own as well. Granted there is a bond, but would that bond not be there even if he/she was just a standard member, or even a RHM or LHM? Nothing is wrong with stagnancy when trying to create a popular and safe world for those arriving to shores. Crew leaders auth those they trust can do the job, in these cases, they felt their Captains would make a better fit. Asking them to do otherwise is just ridiculous. Alliances come and go it's always come and go. If I'm not mistaken people were more upset about the rotation of the same bloodlines over and over being authed during the Cp days. There is new blood that has given the chance to prove themselves, and being some may have never had the chance of being in that position, I would rather them have that experience of what it's like to run a Family rather than authing those who have been in that position numerous times. I personally don't see an issue, but that's my opinion as you have yours. Then ask yourself another question, is it right to to question a leaders decision publicly? I would assume you know that answer being you've waited until an untouchable rank to bring it to the public. |

I do agree with one point you make though, the Mafioso with that Captaincy are there for the Family as a whole. They should be given a chance to decide whether or not they want to press on with the Captain. Though in this case, when these Captains were given the chance to run their own city it was shortly after a large war, and housing became a huge issue. They were setup to assist with the problem being at the time there were few selections the Crew Leaders had at the time, so they went with who they could trust, their captain. Either way they made their decisions off what they felt was right. You make some good points and I admire your enthusiasm, but in overall aspects of things, roguing has been near non existent and wars have come to a halt for the time being. This world was in dire need of some time to grow instead of constant bloodshed that had been happening often. |

I'd have to be brutally honest and say that I agree with Mr Ghost_Form_Of_Billy_Bathtub, aka William The Tank/Kaboom, when it comes to the division of Iris/Kangaroo/Daera and Alessia/LargeHamster/TM-Scarface/Czar. In fact, the only independent family right now would be DaKine, if you were to ask me and he's remaining very silent in his corner of New Orleans. StonedSilent and Kaboom both have points though. SS says that surely any member of a family to get auth would have a certain amount of loyalty to that family that has raised them through the ranks and given them the opportunity to acquire the rank and auth that they achieved. But the authed should, as FlyingPig states, should be as diverse as possible. It is difficult for a crewleader to do this, as it may involve the auth of potential threats to them and others, but if it brings something different to the crewleader coffeeshop, and brings something extra to the world then surely it's a risk worth taking? A division between two sets of crewleaders isn't something I'd wish to see, I know that. Mind you, I'm sure Daera, Mr Scarface, and The Hamster would want to come out onto the streets and beg to differ that they are still strongly affiliated with their old crewleaders, despite being a completely independent CL in their own city. Maybe. We'll see. |

Marietta approaches the small group, listening to the speech as it is delivered. She feels the itch to say something on the subject, but remains silent and allows a few others to have a say before raising her hand timidly. I have a few things to say, if no one minds? Just a few comments about a few things said here and there. "Nothing is wrong with stagnancy when trying to create a popular and safe world for those arriving to shores." Right. There is nothing wrong with a small period of growth to gain a higher population. Yet stagnancy leads to just that: stagnancy. The word itself usually brings a negative tone to whatever sense it is used in. If everything gets too comfortable people start taking things in this world for granted. Less businesses are opened and operated, less debates and speeches are seen in the streets, and people begin sleeping for days at a time, waking up only to knock over a few 7-11s and plan a truck heist or two before hibernating once more. You state stagnancy is a good thing; stagnancy has proven in the past to lead to our world growing boring. People need that excitement, people need that edge to keep their adrenaline flowing and to give them a reason to wake up in the morning, to drag their asses into the headquarters each day and to continue to play their role in this society of ours. "Then ask yourself another question, is it right to to question a leaders decision publicly? I would assume you know that answer being you've waited until an untouchable rank to bring it to the public." It would appear that the person who delivered this speech did so on the behalf of a ghost from the past. And what's wrong with asking questions? If you don't ask questions, you never get answers. When people are killed for speaking their mind, then someone around here is taking themselves a little too seriously. Seriously. Glances around the small gathered group with a raised eyebrow. Anyway, onto the actual point of this speech. I agree... to some extent. I can see this trend of "remaining a solid unit" happening with some families and captains, but not as much with others. In the case of one of the pairings you mentioned, at first I think there was a connection between the Leader and the Captain, as there was expected to be. As the days grow longer I feel the Captain become Crew Head is growing into the role and flourishing, independent of his old family. In the case of the other Mob Boss and Captain-become-Crew Leader, I see it as more of a 'mother bird' type of nourishing. A situation almost like 'I'll be there for you, to cuddle you between my wings and shield you from the world outside the nest I have created for you'. I rarely see the former Captain take responsibility for their own actions, and seldom do they have to even answer to anyone but their former Boss. I agree we need to break away from the latter type of authing. In fact, we need to break away from authing the Captains to become full city leaders all together. I'm not disagreeing with the ones that have already been set in place within the past few weeks, as most of them have proved their salt several times over. The position of Captain, though, is one granted to someone highly loyal to the family, and someone highly capable of running their own faction of the existing crew they belong to. This position was not designed to have one prove their loyalty, then be thrown into the next available city as it appears. |

Captains to Full Crew Leader Authing sounds logical on the surface. Being a Captain is an ideal testing ground for being a Crew Leader. If you are a Crew Leader and you have a Captain, who takes on the role and excels in it, why should this person not be eligible for full Auth? They have proved their worth to you, clearly are trustworthy and they understand the basic concept of running a Head Quarters, though as a Captain this is under the rule of their leader. Though I see the reason behind Authing Captain and would appear to be in favour, I like to play devils advocate. The reason I disagree with it is simple, when the Leaders Auth a new Crew Leader, the reasoning behind said auth is not always "because the city is empty." Traditionally, a new leader is named, when the world needs a new Leader, i.e. there are too many homeless getting shot and housing must be provided. Authing a Captain does not resolve this issue. On a side note, and this is just opinion, I would personally like to see all cities full before Captains are named. Why? I'm not 100% sure and honestly can not justify the statement fully. Something just nags at me having a city with a family of 80 plus members in one city, when there are cities empty. |

Stagnant? Let's see. It seems that as a whole, the population considers these to be some essential rules: Do not mug anyone unless with permission from both parties involved. Do not whack anyone unless it is authed and everyone is ok with it. If you are mugged, rat on that person to their boss so they get whacked. If someone tries to whack you, tell on that person so they are killed. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE GET WHACKED, REPORT IT TO YOUR CREWLEADER ASAP!!! I'll tell you what has made this society so stagnant, too many fuckin' rats. If you mug someone your own crewleader whacks you for it. You whack someone and you can't trust anyone here not to say anything. Omerta? No one here knows what omerta is. The good ole' days were good for a reason. No one talked when someone got whacked. No one had a hissy fit and bitched to their crewleader because someone tried to whack 'em, they whacked 'em the fuck back! I remember by the time you made earner you had already had 5 attempts on your life and 5 less enemies to worry about. Now you just get whacked by crewleaders and their hit squad. No one fights anymore because at least back in the day you had a chance. Now you just die. |

| As far as the crewleader arrangements, I'd like to see a lot more crewleaders. If I were in Iris' or Alessia's position I'd be cranking out captians like a mofo. If I were in DaKine's position I'd be cranking them out even faster to remain competative. While two families control most of the cities, everything eventually comes to an end. It may seem impossible now but it's only a matter of time before the families are broken up and there are several competing factions again. | |

The problem with your utopia, Justino, is that it is not "someone" getting mugged or wacked, but instead it is a connected guy. We are all mobsters here, thus the victim of any attack is usually another mobster, unless for some reason he is unsponsored. Being a rat does not apply when you are protecting your family. Organized crime is organized for a reason. All actions are subject to the approval of the higher-ups. In the mafia, you don't just wack whoever you want, especially if it is a Made guy. If you mug someone who is connected to another family, there will be hell to pay. You are taking money out of their Bosses pocket! Your perspective might be valid if it was someone mugging or wacking a citizen or an unaffiliated thug. When it comes to people connected to the mafia, and when those people are the targets of violence, it is different. An attack on one is an attack on all, and each act has repercussions. If a mobster attacks another family on his own, how do you think his Boss would respond to that? Again, you must remember that it is not just some Joe Schmoe on the street that you are mugging or wacking, but someone who is connected to powerful people who could destroy everything your Boss has worked for. Omerta? Omerta has its place, but that place isn't in keeping your mouth shut when you need to be reporting to your Boss. |

Noob listens in on all the speeches as they take their seperate directions, until he finds a pause to which he fills I do not agree with anyone when they ask for captains not to be authed. Hell captains are a good way for families to expand and TAKE power through expansion. Having captains SHOULD bring in more money and thus allows leaders to be better protected. Thus being a leader and having a captain is advantageous. It also allows people to be tested. It gives a great indication to how well they would cope with the strains and pressures of running a family of their own. If a captain makes a mistake it is easier for their Boss to punish them accordingly when they are captains rather than fully fledged Family Heads. I would like to remind people here that, although we are here to better the well being of everyone that walks this life of ours, we are here to become powerful and have a legacy that people will remember, this should be done however individuals see fit. People can say anything, but it is worthless until they have walked a mile in that person shoes, being it in this life or their fathers. Noob steps back a little and waits around on the street corner to see if anyone else has anything to say |
