A day in the life. Started by: AnthonyReturns on May 21, '12 02:18

Philidelphia. City of something or other. What was it, brotherly love? It didn't look all that friendly. He would have considered it a nice day for a drive, except for the truck. It was driving him crazy. It wasnt the way engine roared at even modest throttles, or the incessant grinding of gears while double clutching. Even the total lack of road worthiness didnt really bother him. It was the roses. Who in their right mind kept roses in their truck. Only her he supposed. Christ, they smell fresh. He tries to put the smell out of his mind as he checks the store fronts. Cheese steaks, hot dogs, a pub, a soup kitchen. He finally stops in front of Ire's Dollah Bill and contemplates. I'll be damned. It was a long drive just to find out the only people who had what you needed in Philly, were New Yorkers. With an irrated look at the roses he rolled down the road again, swearing under his breath.

Report Post Tip

Erida looks up at the clock as the hours go by and she starts to find herself pacing back and forth.

How freaking long does it take to find a place to rob?

She lights up a smoke as she pours herself a beer. Taking a sip from her glass she smiles knowing that soon her bar will have a frosty mugs at least after Anthony actually returns. Suddenly the door opened to the bar and she froze a bit hoping he had finally gotten back so they could go get what she and the entire crew needed.

You know I was starting to think that you had gone ahead and done the job with out me.. She flicked her ashes from her smoke into the glass ash tray as she watched him roll his eyes.

Like the truck by the way? She smiled as Anthony had finally returned.

Report Post Tip

Anthony laughed. Well doll, if I wanted to go off half cocked like an early twenty something wanna be gangster maybe I would have. But instead I intend to find a likely target for our acquisition. The problem, in Philly at least, we could only hit New Yorkers. That be bad, since the best option was Ire's place, real bad. Can you imagine her finding THAT in here? It was Erida's turn to roll eyes. Exactly doll, exactly. So I need the truck again, I think I'll check out The Motor City. Oh yeah, your truck. You can try roses all you want honey, but you just cant polish a turd like that. And, I need some gas money too.

Report Post Tip

Erida's mouth dropped as she heard him call her truck a turd.

At least it smells good damn it.. She threw the keys at him and rolled her eyes. Luckily she had asked for a loan from the boss to find a few things so she handed him over a 5.00 bill.

You know.. I think I know where we can go to steal that fridge. She grinned as the thought hit her.

Its still stealing from a New yorker but I know he has the cash to replace it and not care.

Report Post Tip

Oh no you don't. I see those sharp teeth behind those red lips. He didnt say this, but he thought it. Well, that is an option. Course it isn't as exciting as taking it from someone who does care. Tell you what, I am just going to sort of...drive by Detroit, yeah...then maybe we can discuss what I find when I get back. Till then perhaps you can just ask nicely and see what that gets ya. Anthony winks, finishes his beer and makes preperations to leave for Detroit. This includes smashing the vase the roses where in. Won't be needing any vase's.

Report Post Tip

Erida rolls her eyes at him.

I'm not saying he wouldn't care, and well it would be a lot trickier then just robbing a simple business. Here i'll drive and then you can decide! She snatches up the keys quickly so he can't say no and she grins making sure to show her teeth a bit as she scampers to the door.

Hello.. don't just stand there like a bump on a log!

Report Post Tip

Call it intuition, call it a distrust of dames with sharpened teeth. Whatever it was, as AnthonyReturns followed her out the door he couldn't help but think how wrong this could go. Still, he could handle just about anything. Sort of. He climbed into the passenger seat and looked over at the grinning woman. Well dont just sit there, lets go!

Report Post Tip

Erida started up the engine of the truck and felt it lunge forward. She didn't say much as they drove down the street. She knew he would tell her hell no as soon a she pulled up out front but she couldn't help herself on this one. It really would be quiet simple, or at least she thought.

Being but a block away she parked the truck and felt her smile grow as hopped out of the truck.

"Well common lets go for a walk. We are after all in our own territory." She watched him look at her oddly as he stepped out of the car. Erida shut her door and then quickly began to walk around the corner.

Standing infront of the Outlaws massive head quarters she giggled.

Report Post Tip

Marston sits in the office of his headquarters with his accountant, going over the earnings for the week then the radio sounds.

"Mr Marston sir, this is the watchtower, over!"

Marston picks up the mouthpiece and holds down the button…

"Watchtower, this is Marston, send message, over…"

"Sir, we heard a scrapheap of a vehicle approaching the fort sir… It parked a block down the road, then two guys got out and walked to the front gate, over…"

"Sounds dodgy, what are they up to now, over."

"They're just standing by the reinforced front gate sir, staring at the walls. Over."

"Keep an eye on them Ricketts, been waiting to see someone try scale the electrified barbed wire for some time now… If the get into the courtyard you know what to do… The hounds are looking real hungry today don't you think? Over."

"Yes sir… REEAAAL HUNGRY… Out!"

Report Post Tip

Anthony took off his gloves and hat and ran his hand through the thick blond hair on his head and over his face. This gesture was a precurser to a future one called The Facepalm. He knew they looked suspicious out front of the New York HQ and didn't want to look at all like they were casing the place. Of course it was too late for that kind of thinking.

First off its "wise guy" and this aint real wise for you, gal. We aren't made, hell I'm completely expendable at this point, so are you. That place is a fotress. Barbed wire? Walls? WATCH towers? Do you know what they keep in watch towers? Rifles Erida, with scopes and such. And I bet they even have dogs about somewhere. My plan was simple, trick a shop owner into giving us a freezer to repair. I bet half the shop owners in Philly have no idea I cased the place. But Marston didn't get where he is by missing the obvious. We can walk into an unwary, unprotected shop and get the owner to give us a damn freezer. The New York HQ? There is no way we get in there, and if we did, there is no way we get out alive. With a FREEZER!!

He yelled the last part.

Anthony walked back to the truck and got inside, if he had the key he would have driven to Detroit and let her walk back to the HQ. As it was he just waited.

Report Post Tip

Erida looks over at Anthony's direction and shakes her head.

"Wuz.." She found herself muttering under her breath as she walked up to the guard at the front gate.

"Excuse me sir?" She made her voice sound meek as she peered up at the tall man. "Not long ago I was sheltered here for a very short time and I left some of my belongings in the hq. I really would like them back and I also need to personally return this key to Don Marston himself. She gave a small smile as she shrugged a bit at the guard.

Watching him pick up the phone she held her breath for a brief moment knowing all she had to do was to get inside.

"Name?" The gaurds voice was gruff as he stared hard at her.

"Ohh. Erida sir." She rocked back and forth a bit on her toes as she awaited the guards response.

Report Post Tip

Marston scratches his head looking at the takings and smiles again…

"Wow the money really is rolling in this week, I think we deserve a beer!" He says to his accountant…

"Want me to go grab a crate sir? Are they still in the walk-in fridge, next to the kitchen?"

"Of course, you know we only have one fridge in the HQ…"

The accountant heads out of the door on his quest for beer, leaving Marston alone in the office to relax, until the radio sounds again…

"Boss, this is front gate, there's a young woman here who claims to have left some belongings in the HQ, goes by the name Erida… Over."

"Erida…? Ahh of course… She left some clothes here I tailored for her, send her in immediately, out."

Report Post Tip

To his utter surprise the guards move let Erida in. For just a moment Anthony considers getting out of the truck when she begins to motion and talk to the guard, but it is soon obvious there is only one person entering the compound. Anthony sits as she disappears and the guards just peer, right at him.

Report Post Tip

Erida's mouth nearly falls open as she walks in the hq. It defiantly is a lot different then the one she now called home. She didn't even remember the sheer grandness of the place as she heard her heels click across the floor. Standing in the entrance still she pauses and tries to remember which way the bar was.

Looking to her left she grins as she remember the way. "Three doors down on the right." Her memory never had steered her wrong, but at that moment she was wondering how she would manage to steal an entire fridge by herself. She walked normally down the hall and smiled as she pushed open the door and then immediatly froze in her stance.

"What the hell is that?" She pointed to this massive walk in fridge that now was behind the bar and then huffed.

Report Post Tip

Dominion steps into Marston's office after making his usual rounds that day. He nods to the accountant at the table and greets Marston.

Hello, boss. Everything quiet today?

Marston grabs the days totals and slides them to Dominion.

It's been smooth sailing today. Marston responds The bottom line is looking good and I just got some news that an old friend has stopped by.

Dominion looks over the totals sheet with a smile then tosses the sheet back on Marston's desk.

This calls for a drink!

Dominion makes his way to a small table on the opposite side of the room from the desk. He picks up two glasses and slides a false panel on the wall open exposing the refrigerator that once resided behind the bar and had been secretly moved into Marston's office when the walk in refrigerator was installed behind the bar. Dominion glances back at Marston.

Want yours on the rocks?

Report Post Tip

Unsure of what to really do now Erida slowly back out of the bar and then realizes she has to go to Martson's office and soon or else they might start to think she was up to something. Trying to figure out what to do she walks down the hall her shoulders slumped slightly with disapointment. Reach Don Marston's door she simply with out thinking opens it before knocking.

"Oh my.. I'm soo.." Erida froze in her tracks as she watched Dominion quickly jump up and point his gun at her. Putting her hands up she nearly screamed out as she stared at the barrel of his gun. Frozen still she watched the gun slowly lower and heard him sputtering something at her then realized what stood behind him.

"sorry?" Erida saw the old fridge hidden in the Don's office and suddenly her mind started moving a million miles per hour.

"I just simply came for my things is all, and I didn't mean to just. Err.. I'm so sorry." She quickly backed out of the room and shut the door. Neither the Don nor Dominion saw the clever smile grow across her face as she heard Don Marston laugh and summon her back in.

She let her smile fade as she slowly opened the door and came back in the office. "I really do apologize for that I know better I really do but you see I was just in a simple hurry and completely forgot and again I'm soo." Her words ran together so quickly that even she didn't realize it as she stared at the two men just staring at her back.

Report Post Tip

As Anthony sat in the truck desperatly looking on at the gate waiting for Erida to come out. With the guard at the gate he jumped as someone tapped at the truck window. As Anthony looks their stood a cop. But looked famalier.

"Why dont you step out the truck sir. Slowly and keep your hands where i can see them."

The officer opened the truck door and gestured for Anthony to step out. The officer watched him closely as he stepped out keeping a hand on his gun. Behind the truck sat a polic car so this obviously wasent a joke.

Report Post Tip

Intuition is a worthless if you don't heed it officer, that's some free advice.

Anthony stepped out of the truck with hands up. He positioned himself so the cop was between him and the guards, but more importantly, the cops back was to the watch tower. This had to effect of obscuring his face somewhat since the compound was well let around the walls.

What can I do for you officer, the truck's a piece of shit, but it's legal. Papers are probably in the glove box. Anthony checked around for the cops partner but saw no one. Mind if I put my hands down?

Report Post Tip

JV and Ricketts watch keenly as a police car draws up beside the car apparently stolen from a junkyard. JV looks warily at Ricketts. This meant trouble. The cops are not allowed on the Outlaw's turf without prior warning and he was certain that they weren't warned about this. He watches as the cop orders a guy out of the trash vehicle. He looks at Ricketts.

What do you think they're upto?

Ricketts glances at the car for a moment and turns towards JV.

NO good. That's what they're upto. Those pigs aren't supposed to be on our turf unless they're called for and I certainly wasn't warned about this.

He frowns.

Something has to be done before things get outta hand. I'll arrange for a backup just in case. You radio the boss and tell him we have a situation here.

Ricketts signals to another man on the opposite watch tower and decends the ladder. JV picks up his radio and pushes the button.

Boss, we have a situation here. The pigs are on our lawn. Over

Marston tutts.

Make yourself clear. I ain't gonna get a thing if you speak in riddles.

Boss, a cop car just pulled up by that car we told you about. There's one cop and he has his weapons drawn at the guy in the other car.

He watches as Ricketts forms a small team behind the fences.

And Ricketts has formed a backup team just in case. Over

Report Post Tip

"Straight all the way, you know that…"

As the glass reaches his lips, the door pops open… He looks over at Dominion who has a smug look on his face having apparently beaten the master to the draw, but Marston nods in the direction of his hip, and Dominion's look quickly changes to disappointment when he sees Marston's revolver pointing motionlessly in the direction of their visitor's forehead.

As Erida nervously backs out of the doorway the radio sounds and Marston answers it…

"Okay, good work Vega, keep eyes on; I'll be there in two seconds… out!"

He grabs his baseball bat from behind the desk, then turns around and stares blankly at Erida as she nervously attempts to explain herself, then shakes his head…

"Erida, calm down, you're a part of my extended family… mi casa es su casa…"

She looks back at him blankly, but he has no time to translate for her, the police had overstepped their mark again so it was high time to make another example.

"Dominion, please go grab Erida's things for her… Erida, help yourself to my drink while you wait…"

He points towards the fridge, then heads out of the room gently tapping the palm of his hand with the business end of his baseball bat…
