| A Monument | Started by: Soseki on Aug 30, '26 23:48 |

Soseki stands in front of a building site in Detroit holding a piece of paper. He looks overly earnest, then suddenly snaps his fingers.
Every time I snap my fingers a Made Man dies because of a rogue. On average. And it'll be 3 days until I click my fingers again, but that's still a lot of Made Men. This is how it's been for as long as I can remember, good people continuously dying in the hope that through this sacrifice we can cobble together a way of doing things at least a fraction better than how it was before. I believe these victims should be commemorated, and so I've purchased this lot behind me and invested the entire tax revenue of Corktown from my time as Godfather ($338,977) into building a monument in their honour. But I need your help. There are literally too many people for me to remember alone. I asked SimontheBastard, thinking "who knows more about getting shot by rogues than the Simons," but let's just say the bastard is no blacksheeo. So here is everyone I could remember:
But before I call in the engravers, please tell me who I'm missing! Who else have we lost before their time to this rogue plague? Do you have friends or family members killed by someone who refused every effort to bring them into the fold, and instead chose to betray the family they swore loyalty to? Equally is there anyone on this list who shouldn't be? The fight against the rogues is a noble one and I'd like to avoid any stolen valour. If someone I've listed died for a normal reason, rather than because the blanket amnesty offered to rogues didn't quite stroke their egos enough, then please let me know. I look forward to hearing stories of your loved ones and adding them to the monument, even if they are already on the list. And I'd like to offer my sincerest sympathies both for your loss and that our way of life is so riddled with the shameless and short-sighted, who refuse to participate on any terms, no matter how generous, short of being gifted a place right at the top. Despite the budget it'll have to be a big monument, but I'm hoping we won't need to build a second. Perhaps we'll find a better solution than chucking lives into the rogue woodchipper until we have a Made Man slurry thick enough to turn into soap for cleaning slates. |
