Convention for Criminal Operations Started by: Ruby26 on Oct 10, '26 17:00
Ruby addresses the assembly of professional criminals as she stands at front the podium.

Ladies and Gentlemen, today I am addressing a very serious matter; the utterly absurd controversy regarding pickpocketing. It pushes aside the Purging and Bloodlining issues. This has become a very severe issue to the criminal community at large. Especially now that some in the community are starting to protecting their corrupt agents. By using available bodyguards that might be in the area at the time to help the CAs, to deliver a smackdown to the thief.

We as a community have no issue in robbing little old ladies of their purses for a couple of bobby pins to use in our criminal enterprises. Yet a few among us have become whiner babies about anyone learning our profession of pickpocketing. We are the mafia not a babysitter's club! We need the decorum of adult professionals in all areas including the petty annoyance of an occasional pickpocket event. No one loses more than 15k as is our pickpocket apprentice rule.

What people maybe concerned about are muggings. To that I say be prepared! Bank your money don't leave it available in your wallet or purse. Once you have picked someone's pocket, leave the immediate area. Only a fool stands around. It's your professional responsibility to make it a smooth operation and avoid losses.

Whining should probably be a killing offense! If you're not adult enough to be robbed, then why pay dues to our families. No more pussyfooting around. Get out there and do your part in the community economy. Pickpocket without mercy. We are criminals not children playing a boardgame.

While I'm here I would like to recognize a solid professional in the community. Pickpocket, please come forward and accept this award for your efforts. Your trade journal has been very informative to up and coming thieves. You should be proud!

Now did all of you know the history of pickpocketing? Pickpocketing is not a new crime. It goes back to ancient times. It requires agility and stealth to successfully complete a proper snatching of someone's wallet. So if you have been avoiding it to not offend someone, knock that off! Your time to shine is now. Who knows at the next Convention of Criminals we may even hold a contest. So practice now in preparation.

With that, Ruby steps aside from the podium, having
educating the gathering of criminals about the proud heritage of stealing wallets! She starts to hand out flyers to an upcoming bodyguard event.

Archy was walking down the street, enjoying a smoke, when he noticed Ruby26 at the podium. He stopped to listen, and by the time the speech ended, his cigarette was finished too.

"Ruby26, this debate is not new. It has been going on in the streets forever. Every generation had its pickpockets, and every generation had someone complaining about losing fifteen thousand. History is consistent that way. Though I don’t think that’s a huge amount of money. I have wasted a lot more at the dice tables, but apparently that’s someone’s living.

A pickpocket who cries about being mugged is a gambler who cries about the house, and we have a lot of those around, to be honest. I have lifted many wallets and been mugged for it. Both are part of the trade. If you take the risk of reaching into a stranger’s pocket, you accept that the stranger may reach back. Nobody was promised a one-way street.

And to those who believe they are too high to be mugged: rank is a title, not armor. A mugger does not check your family tree before he checks your pockets. If you are standing around with a full wallet, you are not a Don, you are a donation."

Archy paused, realizing he had just insulted himself. He always walked around with huge chunks of money, even after a day of pickpocketing. He laughed it off and lit another cigarette as he walked on.

Jacob stopped near the podium with a whiskey bottle in one hand and a handkerchief against his cheek. He waited for Ruby to finish, then lowered the handkerchief and stood up.

“You’re right about banking your money, Ruby. I Could’ve used that advice an hour ago. I lifted three dollars. Fellow caught me and helped himself to the thirty I’d left in my wallet. Handed the wallet back empty, too. Very tidy about it. I’ve been drinking since, which hasn’t improved my arithmetic.”

Jacob reached for the bottle’s cap, found it already screwed on, shook his head in confusion and left it there.

“But I can’t complain about him catching me. I made a choice and forced him to give me a response"

Jacob tucked the bottle into his pocket and took a sip of his handkerchief and passed out drunk from being drunk before he could finish his response
