My darling husband, Striphe, apparently wheeled my dead body into his closet after BarbieDoll's spell failed to make me her eternal friend. Perhaps that's why she left my body behind. Striphe had his bodyguards gather me up and take me back home, where my gilded cage became his closet. Oddly enough, he even wheeled me out to touch up my lipstick.

At some point, I separated from my body, my soul floating freely about. I didn't see a tunnel of light or a dark pit leading to Hell. Maybe this was my Hell: haunting Striphe for all eternity.

I soon discovered I couldn't escape the grounds of our home. Apparently, even in death, I was still expected to stay where my husband wanted me. How typical.

I have yet to discover the limits of this world or what powers I may or may not possess here. But one thing is certain, not even death can pry me away from his world.

I did enjoy the lovely wedding dress I wore, and I must admit, being able to glide about the house has its advantages.

For now, I'll simply await hubby's return from work.

He's got some splainin' to do....

Chapter 2 Unauthorized Office Tour

Mrs Corelli grew bored waiting for her husband to come home. It was nothing new of course. Even with her dead Striphe made her wait. What was he off doing celebrating with his capos? So she wandered the house.

Then at some point Mrs. Corelli found herself in front of Striphe office door. All the years of marriage never granted her access to the secrets that were hidden inside. There were no guards posted at this moment. Curiosity got the better of her and Mrs Corelli reached for the handle. Strangely her hand slipped passed the handle into the wood.

Startled Mrs Corelli stepped back. "Wait my hand went through." .. maybe my body can slip through. A new amazing power was discovered. A smile rushed onto her face. "Let's see what surprises you've been hiding from me Striphe."

Mrs. Corelli pushes her body through the wood to get into the room. Only Mrs Corelli found herself half stuck in the heavy wooden door. "I can't believe this," she said with a sigh. "I need ghost lessons. Didn't all the ghost books say a ghost can glide right through. Hmm maybe I was supposed to rush at the door?"

Mrs Corelli attempts to back out of the office door only to get further trapped. "No this can't be." She surged forward to drop into a pile on the floor inside.

"Well at least I'm finally inside," Mrs Corelli said exhausted. "It feels like all my energy drained. " I'm not an old ghost. Is there a stamina limit," she pondered.

From the floor Mrs. Corelli gazed around the room. A massive dark mahogany desk took up most of her viewing space. Looking up she saw a green shaded bankers lamp on the desk edge. Finally Stephanie felt energy returning. She was able to rise up to a standing position.

That's when Stephanie's eyes locked on the leather chair on the other side of the desk. Oh no she decided against sitting in the chair after her door experience. Striphe always told his wife that his business was complicated and that she wouldn't understand it. But Stephanie is determined to try and learn all his secrets. Afterall he can't kill her again.

Stephanie looks around. There is so much to Striphe office. There's a book shelf wall. She wanted to laugh as Stephanie can't recall the last time she saw her husband read anything. Maybe they were his father's books.

Striphe actually had a photo of Stephanie on his desk. She found it charming but kind of weird as he didn't seem to be sentimental in his business mode. There were two chairs next to an unlit fireplace. Perhaps for friendly sit downs. A small liquor cabinet setup in one corner. Yet he had one whiskey bottle and a glass on his desk.

That was when she noticed files on top of his desk. Stephanie moved around the desk to view them. She couldn't read all of them in a stack without moving the previous one. On top was a folder titled Tyler Durden. Try as she might Stephanie couldn't touch a single sheet of paper.

After several minutes of frustration Stephanie blew a spiritual gasket. Energy surged forth from her form. The folders were launched off the desk scattered across the floor. "Great let Striphe panic over who's been inside his locked office." Laughter escaped from Stephanie.

Another ghost talent Mrs. Corelli couldn't control. Then she decided," since I don't have a teacher for this ghost worldly experience I'll have to learn as I go."

Finally Mrs Corelli couldn't resist the urge to sit in Striphe's leather chair that probably cost more than her weekly shopping allowance. To her surprise Stephanie was able to sit in the chair. Next she looked at the desk to see what she could focus on to move. There was the whiskey bottle, a whiskey glass that was empty, a heavy ledger and the photo in a frame. She found it odd Striphe had a set of brass knuckles on the desktop and not in his weapons stash.

Stephanie decided the brass knuckles might be too heavy. The glass had more potential as it was closer to the corner of the desk. Stephanie wasn't sure how to bring forth the energy. Staring at the glass as if she could will it to fly off the desk and crash to the floor. Each attempt to move the glass had her glancing at the knuckles as a possible alternative target.

With much of Stephanie's energy expired she lounged on the desk with her upper half of her body. As if she could wish the movement. She tried to convince herself the glass moved slightly but couldn't maker it move without a pencil. The irony didn't escape her. Then without warning Stephanie fell asleep in Striphe's leather chair her energy at zero.

Stephanie Corelli wakes from her stamina drained nap. She found herself half wedged inside Striphe's desk. There were folders aplenty in those drawers. Whipping herself up quickly she was floating above the desk. "Wait how do I get down," Stephanie said in a panic.

Then she fell to the floor in her panic. "Wait are my powers based on my emotions?"

Stephanie got up once again from the floor. This ghost thing wasn't very graceful. "Wait if my emotions affect my powers hubby will have a disaster on his hand!" Stephanie laughed heading towards the door.

"I've had enough fun in here for now. So boring, just paperwork. Maybe I'll come back another time. Now let me tackle this door once more. I better step back and take a quick gliding rush at it."

The first attempt yielded no escape from the office. Stephanie repeated her efforts 3x before actually clearing the door. She almost pass through the wall across the hallway, once she pushed through Striphe's heavy wooden door. "Will he ever show his face?"

"Maybe I should go eat something. Wait can I eat food? Do ghosts eat? Stephanie headed in the direction of the kitchen. She briefly made a vase wobble as she glided passed. One of the maids turned pale pressing herself again the hallway wall.

From behind Stephanie she heard the maid shriek in horror and run away. "What was her problem? Hasn't she ever seen a ghost before," Stephanie continued to the kitchen.

Stephanie found the cook working in the kitchen. She was busy chopping when Stephanie glided inside the room. The cook did react as the maid had so that was a plus. Strangely Stephanie had no interest in the food being prepared. Then she saw the large pot cooking on the stove.

In her curiosity Stephanie moved towards the pot. She couldn't lift the lid. Hmm maybe it worked like the door and she could peek at the contents. Mrs Corelli passed the cook to look into the pot. For some reason Stephanie was sucked inside completely. She had no idea how that happened.

The cook walked over to stir the pot. To her horror she found the late Mrs Corelli's head floating in the pot. She jumped back with a scream. The pot cover slipping from her hand. Stephanie annoyed flew out of the soup pot.

Stephanie stormed out of the kitchen in a rage. " Unbelievable," she ranted. Stephanie never saw all the cabinets and drawers fly open as she left the room in a storm of frustration.

"I'm going to bed I have such a headache.". Stephanie glided up the stairs to the master bedroom. "Let Striphe deal with the crazy staff."

Entering the bedroom she moved towards the bed. Stephanie didn't see her glowing ghost form in her dresser mirror as she headed towards the bed. "I'm done for today. Maybe tomorrow I'll go to the attic and try a classic ghost rattling chains. Would Striphe even notice my efforts?"

With that Stephanie laid down on the mattress. The moonlight shined through the window. It cast an eerie glow in the bed. "Striphe won't even notice me here if he comes back tonight." Then Stephanie closed her eyes to recharge her mischievous ghost battery.

The Attic Has a Few Skeletons

Stephanie Corelli had decided it was time to investigate the attic. Plus she wanted to put distance between herself and the rotting body in Striphe's closet. She was hoping to create herself as a chain rattling ghost. Stephanie could just see how it would annoy Striphe. She smiled making her way to the attic.

Stephanie was finding it easier to pass through walls and doors. But it was still hit and miss. Who ever thought ghostly skills could be a hard thing to master. Stephanie's first discovery was seeing how dusty and full of cobwebs the attic seemed. If she had known while alive it would have been remedied.

Mrs Corelli first noticed a rocking chair next to an old steamer trunk. Mysterious handwritten map lay nearby a dusty old dollhouse and a few other scattered toys. A few paintings lined against a wall.like a stack of chairs. A diary with a jagged torn out page rested on a rickety old suitcase. A box of dusty old books that had a violin case on top.

Then Stephanie saw chains. They weren't on the floor as she thought they might be. Instead the chains hung from an attic beam and reached back to the far wall. What did Striphe keep prisoners up here for, hoping to intimidate them with dust? She laughed slight maybe if they had asthma.

Stephanie reached out to touch one of the chains. It seemed to shake with her movement. Stephanie wasn't quite sure how the ghosts handled physical objects, but she was determined to try. Moving closer Stephanie attempted to grasp the chains. But nothing more than slight jingles.

Frustrated Stephanie Stood below the chains as annoyance rose up. A moment later her ghost body was intertwined with the chains. Not exactly her plan for the day. She struggled against the hold of the chains. They were finally coming together with a little life.

"Well, this is ridiculous!"

Then came a muffled voice. "Would you mind keeping the noise down? Some of us are trying to rest!"

A faint ticking sound interrupted came from the back corner. Wiggling to turn around, Stephanie noticed an enormous grandfather clock tucked away in the corner. Its wooden casing was battered, and its glass face cracked. The hands of the clock rested frozen in time. Freezing up her movement in the chains.

"Who's there?" Stephanie called out from her current predicament.

A little panel near the bottom of the clock creaked open. Two old eyes peered out. "Good heavens! You're a ghost, aren't you?"

"Who are you? Stephanie demanded an answer despite being tethered to the chains.

"Giuseppe Corelli. And judging by your appearance, you must be my grandson Striphe's wife!"

Stephanie was suddenly rather interested. "How do you know Striphe?"

"Know him? He's my grandson! Though I can't say I'm particularly impressed with the boy these days."
Giuseppe began grumbling about his unfortunate circumstances. Apparently, he had been assassinated many years ago, leaving behind a family that had never properly avenged his death.

" It looks like curiosity got the better of you my dear," Giuseppe continued

Curiosity did get the better of Stephanie when she reached for the chains. Unfortunately, things didn't go quite as planned. One awkward turn, a misplaced step and a rather unfortunate tangle later, Stephanie discovered she had managed to get herself caught in the chains. So she couldn't argue with him on that point.

Moving closer, Giuseppe pointed towards the grandfather clock. "That clock! My beloved wife gave it to me as an anniversary present. Do you know what that ungrateful grandson of mine did? He shoved it up here in the attic! Left it among the junk! It's been broken for years, and he hasn't even bothered to have it repaired!"

Stephanie looked at the beautiful old clock. "It must have meant a great deal to you."

"Of course it did! It was a gift from my darling wife. I wouldn't trade it for all the money in the world." For a moment, Giuseppe's expression softened.

Then he returned to his usual grumbling. "And another thing! That boy has done absolutely nothing about my murder. Not a thing! No vengeance, no justice. What kind of Corelli is he?"

Stephanie was beginning to understand that she had stumbled upon quite a character. Yet she was still entangled in chains. " Maybe you could help me here and I could try to get the clock repaired somehow."

Giuseppe studied her for a moment. "You know, I rather like you. You seem to need some ghost training. It took me years to learn all my mischievous skills," he smiled.

With some encouragement Giuseppe helped Stephanie to free herself from the chains. Little did she know that her attic discovery was about to become a rather unusual friendship. Giuseppe, who had spent years hiding away in that old clock, had finally found someone willing to listen. So they would become allies in a Striphe war or at the very least send him a message or two.

Giuseppe had a few ghostly tricks he was eager to teach Stephanie. Thanksgiving was coming up soon, after all. And he had some rather interesting ideas about making this year's family gathering memorable. Stephanie was just glad to gain a mentor in her new state of ghosthood. Both would explore new possibilities together, after all they were family. Striphe could appreciate keeping it all in the family, Stephanie thought with a wicked smile.

An Afterlife Reunion

The living world had finally caught up with Striphe Corelli. His murder marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. With war erupting across the streets, the dead had their own business to attend to.

Striphe found himself standing somewhere unfamiliar. The sounds of gunfire faded into silence, replaced by an eerie calm. He glanced around, wondering if death had finally granted him a little peace and quiet. Unfortunately, peace was never something the Corelli family excelled at.

A familiar figure emerged from the mist.
Stephanie. She folded her arms, eyeing her husband with an expression that could curdle milk. "Well, look who finally decided to join me."

Striphe stared at his ghostly wife. "Stephanie?"

She grinned. "Welcome to Ghost World, darling. And don't even think about hiding in another closet."

Somewhere in the distance, chains rattled. Perhaps grandfather of Striphe is annoyed he didn't get to crash Thanksgiving party.

Stephanie took Striphe by the arm and led him toward the spectral horizon. After all, even death couldn't put an end to a Corelli family reunion.

THE END... OR PERHAPS ANOTHER BEGINNING.
