| Mass Telegrams, Titanic, and the LV Business District | Started by: JonBoutcher on Nov 03, '26 13:46 |

My lineage is one that contains numerous stories. Tales of people like Scooter, who was perhaps the first competitive writing competition fatality. His story, like many others, was captured at the time by a thriving newspaper industry. Then, there is the story of the first recorded death of an allied pro-wacker. In the fog of war, that only one fell is a story rarely told. Enemies have been bested time and again. We think of TheBeast, FrankCastiglia, Douglas_MacArthur. We think of others who were murdered needlessly, their deaths a strange combination of recklessness, impulsivity, and a burning desire to annoy and irritate the Lincoln_Lawyer lineage. RIP LostBoy.
We think of Father-Teq - who came, and then left this thing of ours: never one for convention, he seemed to want the best of both worlds. And we think of Father_Jack, a man best described by others.
One only has to go to the Las Vegas business district to see the innovation that my friend and colleague Otto is engaged in. In the finest traditions of this thing of ours, Otto is keeping alive the gentrification of long established businesses and making friends with the wordsmiths who frequent them. Yes, Otto is a good man.
And that, in part, is what I have come here to talk to you about. As far as I'm concerned, a good LHM is one who sends out telegrams en-masse to everyone he is able to. In the absence of the thriving newspaper industry that, we can all agree, was the very glue that held this thing of ours together, the mass telegram sending is at the very least, a sensible and effective way to bring people together and encourage and facilitate debate.
I am not here to cause rancour, or division. Whilst I am interested in exactly why Monarch felt it necessary to murder ArmieHammer, and also wish to know who Monarch's relatives/friends are, it is not to do him/them any harm, or even write in an unpleasant way about him/them, it's simply to try to understand what would lead a recipient of a mass-telegram to murder.
I have ambitions and they are sequential. Firstly, I want to become a good example of what can be achieved by being a LHM. Secondly, I want to get to a position where at least 80% of those in receipt of a mass-telegram are happy with receiving it. Finally, I wish to have under my command an entire city in which there is no individual telegram sending - everyone is send via mass telegrams. This may have some logistical challenges, but so too did building the Titanic, and that was done. We have all heard of the unfortunate sinking of the Titanic, but has anyone considered what mass-telegram sending might have done to prevent it? If there was a dedicated Morse-code knowing, mass-telegram sending ice-berg detection vessel in the waters prior to the Titanic sailing, then Dundee might not have lost a local man.
This, of course is a metaphor. We are all the Titanic, and we all need a telegram, the same as next man (or woman: here's looking at you Teq) to save us.
So, what do you say? Who's in favour of sending mass-telegrams?

You make a lot of great points, JonBoutcher. Mass telegrams are among my favorite things to both send and receive, of just about anything sendable or receivable. Man was made to communicate massively, in every sense. Loudly, proudly, on the groundly. I can think of many incidents, such as the slaying of an allied pro-wacker (RIP Weezer), where a mass telegram could have prevented a fatal mistake. And many others, such as the death of an offending crewleader at the hands of Monarch, where it helped facilitate a hilarious tragedy. A mass telegram is a flexible, uncontrollable thing. Once sent into the world, it takes on a life of its own. When a painting is shown at a gallery, it becomes the interpretation of the viewer as much as the intent of the artist. I hope that when I pass, a mass mail is sent in my honor. Something like, "Please make sure none of the TBMRPGC gang are given invites. They should be buried with their leader, like a pharaoh with his riches. That was his last request." |

It shows that you are on the forefront of innovative Mafia-statescraft, JonBoutcher, that you would spearhead such groundbreaking methods of communication and leadership. We all know that baking a good pizza begins with COMMUNICATION. The chef has to communicate as directly as possible with his cooks. They have to settle on the pizza's ingredients through COMMUNICATION. Billy wants pepperoni, bob wants prosciutto, and salvatore the mentally stunted hunchback wants pineapple. They have to exchange ideas, the chef has to choose. The Mafia is no different. The crew is one big kitchen. We have our chef, TextBasedMafiaRPGMan. We have our hunchback, InnocentLambKofta. The idea for exclusive communication-through-massmail is welcome one. It's the closest we can get to becoming a hivemind, but I think we can do even better. I want to take this thought experiment a step further: I hope to live to see the day where massmails become deprecated entirely, and TextBasedMafiaRPGMan can beam his thoughts directly into my head at all times without any need for my permission. Hell, I hope that we can all beam thoughts into each other's minds. Think of how wonderful it would be to constantly hear the internal monologues of every single crew member all at the same time. I would never have to feel lonely anymore. |
