Therefore, using simple math, there are 33516 twitter users, who follow a follower of MafiaReturns.

This is over 33,000 potential MR users, who follow an MR players due to a friendship/common interest (The Bieber, Football, One Direction) and would therefore, more likely then not, click a link if it was put up by that user.

This is 33,000+ potential gamers. Now I am not stupid enough to think that, if we all tweeted about MR, the userbase would grow by 33,000, it won't. But what if the game grew by 0.1%? That is an additional 35 users (around a third of what, on average is online at any one time).

Now let me ask you a question to the 266 followers (does MR have more followers then active players?):

When was the last time you tweeted about MafiaReturns?

Me? Never. In a year of playing, Ive tweeted about my Arsenal articles, retweeted others Arsenal articles, rewtweeted blogs, retweeted jokes about Joey Barton about to get bummed in prison again. But in 5,000 tweets (at time of writing) I have never tweeted about MafiaReturns.

There is no reason for me to of not tweeted about the game I have spent 9 years (on and off) playing. I just haven't. There has been no incentive. There is an incentive for my other tweets (share information, get hits for my articles, to try and get a porn star to show me her tits) but with MafiaReturns, there has not been a reason.

So my suggestion to the administrators? Create an incentive. And that incentive is simple. FREE CREDITS.

My policy is simply, everyone is entitled to 1 free credit a week for retweeting whenever @MafiaReturns tweets:

"Jun 04, 2012 06:00:21 - No big names died in the last hour... SIGN UP! RANK UP! AND FIX THAT! http://mafiareturns.com/"

Retweet that once, at the end of the week, all those who retweeted it get a free credit. It is essentially FREE ADVERTISING.

To pay for advertising which reached 33000 people would cost a lot of money. We have a way to do it for free. So lets start doing it.

I have put this in OOC rather then suggestions, because hardly anyone (including admins) go to suggestions, yet everyone reads OOC.

So some thoughts on this?

I guess firstly, everyone needs to ensure that they are following @MafiaReturns (and me @KeenosAFC)

Personaly, were I gauranteed a free weekly credit, I would ensure I retweeted about our game...(to start off with, Im even going to drop a quick retweet with no incentive!)

This idea has potential but if like me some people who follow MR on twitter only have a twitter account for the simple fact that you can get text messages for when a high ranker dies or durdens are about to spawn then there wouldn't be much point.

I think it would be a good idea if controlled correctly. I wouldnt mind retweeting the odd tweet now and then (as long as i dont get spammed every 5mins) i tend to block people for that as i have a short attention span and it would annoy me.

But, im now following @mafiaReturns. 1 more friend for me!

As someone who doesn't have a twitter account, who hates twitter, who will never have a twitter account... I don't see anything negative about this idea. Gets lots of advertising, and 1 credit a week is... well, a pittance, so it's not like it's going to unbalance anything.

Not a bad idea at all Keenos. As a very anti-Facebook/pro-Twitter advocate, a simple retweet takes minimal effort and even if it goes unnoticed, it certainly can't hurt. I noticed a majority of the MR twitter followers seemingly created accounts solely for MR, but for those who are active on it, an MR retweet here and there could serve as a nice promotional vehicle.

Keenos; There already is an incentive to re-tweet.. More users. Surely the incentive to help the userbase grow is a bigger draw than a simple credit??

I would encourage all Twitter users to re-tweet MR whenever possible, without waiting to know if they'll get a free credit for it.

That said; I don't think your idea is a bad one, I just think its a shame that people feel the admins need to reward them for doing something that most would try and do anyway. The more users we get, the better the experience here is for everyone.

Technically speaking, yes there is an incentive to re-tweeting in it's current form.

However, the human condition suggests that people don't do anything for free. What's the harm in getting a credit for it if it it helps the game grow?
