Crew after the CL is Killed Started by: Grim_Reaper on Jun 08, '12 03:59

I was thinking that in the real mafia when the Don dies the family doesnt disband someone else steps up! Right ? So lets say the Cl is killed then the RHM steps up and takes over the Family and the LHM either stays LHM or moves up depending on which the new CL wants they could rename the family and whatever else they needed to do but this would save time re-inviteing others that could be used pying tribute at the old CL's funeral and getting the family back into order

At the risk of looking simple, i cant understand what your question/suggestions is here pal. If you would care to explain a little further or someone else was too, id be more than happy to give my thoughts on it. thanks.

Ok lets say in war time that the leader of the family is killed then the RHM now becomes the leader and the LHM either stays there or moves up depending on who the new boss wants. But, if Boss, RHM, and LHM all are killed then the family is over does this help any ?

Report Post Tip

i see what your saying but again i cant see what your suggesting we add to the game to better it, or add a feature that doesnt exsist, for the betterment of the game.

Are you saying: is it possible if during a war and a specific cl dies that thier hands take over were they left off with exactly the same hq, with exactly the same members?, same earnings totals etc? (again could be well off the mark... i really am lost, maybe its just me.)

Report Post Tip

no that is exactly what im saying lol :)

Report Post Tip

ok, well we got there in the end.

Well here is how I see, if were talking from a war point of view, id say coding that in would be a waste of time, simply because, as a rule if a cl dies, from the loosing side his rhm/lhm will follow. even if they are lucky enough to survive the first wave their future has most likely already been sealed and they will soon follow the rest of that city/cl to the grave. It may work from a point of view if a cl dies in the line of fire or dies from a gun malfunction. although, see below...

From a rp point of view id say it doesn't really work, take earnings as a sticking point, your new cl would never had had the money that you have donated to your old cl, it will prolly be already gone, so the earnings would be incorrect for that crew, which in turn is not really a true reflection on what you have done for that specific, new cl. Also for the sleeping members, how would they magically end up in the new crew(from an rp perspective it couldn't make sense)

I can understand the logic, but for me the rp aspect will always outweigh and rational.

well u made a few good points one id like to point out

If the cl dies hen the rhm and lhm will most likely follow

Report Post Tip

Not sure if this should be coded, but I have don't agree with you here with you here Orion. From a roleplay perspective it makes perfect sense.

Here are two reasons why this could be implemented, I'm not saying it should because it would change the way the game is played entirely.

1) A coup! Any RHM, LHM or maybe even any other Made member of the upper structure could take over power by plotting a coup if they think current leadership isn't fit for leading the family. A coup can be done with outside help, instead of tearing up a family only people that should be removed, are removed from positions. (Maybe the way wars are fought would change and we will end up with less collateral damage)

2) Gun malfunction or retirement! Any Made member of the family should be able to take over when this happens.

It's all about keeping the family name and bonds in tact. I hate it when a gun malfunction happens to my CL and my family is split up to join other families. All that hard work gone to waste!

.... take earnings as a sticking point, your new cl would never had had the money that you have donated to your old cl, it will prolly be already gone, so the earnings would be incorrect for that crew, which in turn is not really a true reflection on what you have done for that specific, new cl. - Orion

You earn money for the (strength) of the family. As a (replaceable) CL you are just lucky to be at the top of the pyramid and get the biggest part of the juice. So with this particular idea earnings could be coded in a way it goes to the family instead of directly to the CL. You could have a earnings breakdown just like the upper structure, in which the CL will get the largest part or anything he seems fit.

Also for the sleeping members, how would they magically end up in the new crew(from an rp perspective it couldn't make sense) - Orion

There is no new crew, just a change of leadership! If this idea should be implemented a family should be coded less CL dependant.

I think RHM should take over if something happens to CL.

Report Post Tip

yea people who agree thx for seeing what I mean GaiusAdams

Seen this suggestion at least once before... here's the reply that sums up how I feel on it...

And if the Right Hand is not Made Man or higher? The decision who takes the crew over in the event of the death is that of the city head, as it should be.

No one in their right mind would take over the crew without the blessing of the city head.

Thats why there needs to be more order which this would do in times of war the a smart CL when have some goomba being their RHM knowing they could prolly die any sec

You are essentially taking the decision away from the person that runs the city. Today Caveman died and his family was taken care of right away by those in charge of the city. There was nothing automated needed. The community works together when things like that happen.

A Right Hand is not chosen for their rank, they are chosen for their abilities and the trust that the leader has in them. I have seen many instances over the years where a right hand was chosen based on rank over someone the leader trusted and it usually ended up with the leader's death because of something that high ranked Right Hand did that the lower ranked, trusted, person would not have done. Some will remember the Fallen 40 of Ganelon's crew in 04... The right hand, who was chosen based on rank not trust, HQ wacked 40 of Ganelon's members before he was able to be shot.

If you have been here for any period of time you will know that the Right Hand is usually shot in the first wave, regardless of rank, during a war. It's the strategy any smart war general plays. We all live a life where we can die at any moment during a war. You go for higher ranks and known hitters first.

What you are proposing has been proposed many times and shot down every time. We try not to automate things here that way the game is truly run by the players not the code. The people that play make the decisions and determine the outcome.

You have left me scratching my head though... You are asking that a crew automatically goes to the Right Hand upon leader death thus circumventing the chain of command of the city represented by the leaders then some babble about the need for more order and leaders making "smarter" decisions regarding their choice of Right Hands.. And I'm really not seeing the correlation between the two.

Godfather I respect your opinion greatly and understand where you are coming from with these statments but dont u believe it would make someone think more before starting a family and more about who there RHM is

Report Post Tip

I think that people already consider who their Right Hand is a fair amount before selecting them, as the actions of the Right or Left hand man can directly lead to a leader's death.

You also have to remember that just because somebody is happy being the Right Hand, does not mean that they would be happy being a Crewleader - so introducing a system where if the Crewleader dies the Right Hand automatically takes over, could be forcing someone into a position they never wanted or asked for.

No need to address me as Godfather here, this is an OOC forum. Here I am just DeadlySin, a player with an opinion :)

Report Post Tip

Ok deadlySin and that is a very good point i didnt think of when I wrote this

Report Post Tip

This is something i have wanted for a long time it is what happens in real life and we are role playing real life mobsters are we not ?

In real life the RHM or Number 2 would not be anyone who isn't a made man but i think this would only work with the admins completing the other feature of CL's deciding your rank to reflect your place in the family and not your in game level

It would also mean when a RHM dies the LHM would take over as RHM a most trusted Capo would move up to LHM,

This wouldn't make sence as things are now but it read this

http://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread229826

With this feature things will make a lot more sence and be easier

Cl = Don

RHM= Consig

LHM= Consig/Boss

Varius Capo's

Made Men

Report Post Tip

It may be what happens in real life, but you have to remember that ultimately this is a game - and concessions have to be made to balance realism against fun.
