Hmm, very nice advice there Vadar, I just have a few things to add if I may, to further your class...for one, if you can't get the gender of the CL you wish to talk to, something like this in a mail would still work out ok... Montiego sees (CL's name) and waves enthusiastically "Hello there friend, how are you on this fine day? My names Montiego..." and you can go from there...another good thing is to play a role, you can usually use actions to show this, and actions are usually shown in itallics as above, if you don't know, italics are simple, all you do is put <> with the letters "em" before the message and "/em" at the end of your italicized message, so it will look something like this when you type it... < em>Montiego waves to the crowd< /em> the only difference is you will not use the spaces in between the <> symbols. Role playing is a good way to get the attention of the person you are talking to, if you can take on a role in the world you are just that much further ahead any new mafiosa who doesn't know what they are doing, it's a great leg up, and with practice it can be a fun thing to do Montiego nods to Vadar. "I think that's all I have for the time being mate." |

Thanks for that addition Montiego. Its a very helpful addition. I want to go over a quick tip on everyone's favorite subject, The Gun. In order to receive your gun you must successfully complete 75 petties. Its best to do these every couple of minutes or so(OOC: you have to wait 3 minutes and 15 seconds to do another petty). After about 4 hours or so you will be trusted enough to get a gun. One thing about your gun, do NOT go around trying to wack anyone and everyone for no reason. First off you will likely fail and second off this will only lead to your eminent demise. Your gun is not there to go around killing people for no reason, it is there so that you can help defend you family in times of war. There are acceptable ways to train your gun such as the shooting range(OOC: You can find the shooting range under the War section) or finding people that have for one reason or another gone on vacation or have fallen ill(OOC: after 7 days people will become Inactive(IA) and you can kill them). I will not speak much more on this as it is best reserved for the family to teach you these ways. |

My next lesson will be on how to properly act on the streets(OOC Roleplaying). I am currently looking for some quest speakers to help out with this lesson, so if anyone out there would like to extend their knowledge and experience to those new to these shores please contact me. |

Well Ladies and Gentlemen sorry for such a wait. Mr. Montiego has agreed to be a guest speaker for the next lesson which is all about the Art of the Street Presence(OOC: Roleplaying). It is always a good thing to remember to act with respect and honor at all times while speaking in public. Never try to address heads of Family and other important people as equals. They are your superiors in all ways. With that being said you should also not let people walk all over you. Remember to show respect to all, even your worst enemy, at all times. Doing this will show that you are not a thug but infact a Mafioso, even when putting a bullet in someone you must act like a Mafioso and give them their due. Now Ladies and Gentleman i preset to you Mr. Montiego. Motions for Montiego to come up and address the people. |

Monty walks up to Vadar waving to everybody, he pats him on the should and nods. "Thanks friend, I'm glad to help when I can." Monty looks at the board then frowns a bit as he wipes it COMPLETELY clean. "Now, all of this is great to know, but knowing how to act and work in the streets is one of the most important things in life. The streets are where our life begins and ends, everything happens here. People always come to look at them, and if you are being an idiot in the streets they assume you will behave the same way in their family, so you not only inherit a bad reputation, but more than likely will get yourself killed in the process. Now, don't think this means you should be afraid of these streets, you can also make friends, and build strong partnerships in these same streets, it's all about how you conduct yourself." Monty takes a minute to drink some whater then picks up the chalk and begins to explain things, still not touching the board. "Now, this life we have here, by those on the outside, is called "RolePlaying." This simply means exactly what it says, you take on a role in the streets and you play it out, till the end. With our way of life, you can be anything from the lowly preacher to the favored bartender, or even the toughest hitman, it is really up to you. Now, I could stand up here and preach to you about how respect in the streets is important, because it is, but you have all hear that same worn out line a million times now, I'm here to tell you how to interact in the streets, while maintaining a certain respect for yourself and others around you." Monty finally reaches to the board and writes down a few things. "Actions, one of the most important things in the streets, next to your words. Your actions make up who you are, what you do, how you behave. Through these you can do almost anything, within the realm of reality. By now I'm sure you've noticed that actions are usually written in italics. This shows a certain professionalism and just looks cleaner than putting "*" on both sides of your actions. Italics are simple, before your message you place < em> and after it you place < /em>...this will show everything in between as Italicized...of course, there are no spaces, they were left for instructional purposes only." Monty grins and leaves the board, almost barren except for that note. "Now, to the real point behind today's lecture. You can't teach someone how to live in the streets. Sure, you can dress them up, teach them to talk, show them the ropes, but it still remains up to them to do these things. Life on the streets is tough, it takes a little practice, and a certain aura about you. Some people are gifted and take to this life almost imediatly, as for me, it took a VERY long time for me to be able to work the streets the way I do, and if you ever see me out there, I encourage you all to take a look, you may benefit from it. There are several "unwritten" laws that you can only learn by experiencing them, I can't tell you that everything is black and white, there is way too much grey to be taught. Not everything that involves a role in the streets has to be story oriented." Monty nods at Vadar. "Take this man for example, he is simply a teacher, all he wishes to do is make the street life a little easier for everybody. Me myself? Well, I'm sort of everywhere, one day I may choose to rob a bank, the next I may be sitting in a classroom giving a lecture, and who knows, maybe tomorrow I'll be a preacher. That's my role, I never get boring, but when it comes time for family matters in the streets everything will change. If you ever see your boss post something in the streets it could very well be important, and should always be looked at. Often times diplomatic issues are handled in the streets, and if you see what is happening before it happens you can be ready for the outcome. Me myself, I can't really tell you what I do for my family when it decides to present itself, but you will have your own role, and when you figure out what it is, life will run smoothly for you. Heh, well, I've talked quite long enough I think for now. Everyone take a ten minute break or so, if you have any questions come see me, we'll meet up here again, unless Vadar has anyone else lined up behind me?" Monty looks at Vadar seeing if he wishes to take the stage. |
